QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) So in your opinion he should take the worst deal offered since the CBA began? Tom Condon isnt going to let ANY player do that (but of course everyone thinks Joey is doing the negotiations himself). People have to remember as well, Joey has a father and uncle who played in the NFL, they know the business side and they also dont NEED the money at all. They are very well off. The Chargers have zero leverage. If him and his family are comfortable enough to risk all that guaranteed money and sit out this year, then all props to him, go for it. I've never said the Chargers were right, I just wouldn't be the one to take that stand. I think American sports are the only profession where you are taken out of college and given zero choice where and for whom you want to work for. Other than the military I guess.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) I think Trump watched a couple of 90s hood movies, reruns of Good Times, and binge watched the Wire and decided he's ready to start talking to black people. I can't wait until he drops the mic at a debate and screams "DYN-O-MITE!"

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) National Park Service turns 100 today! Happy 100th Birthday Guaranteed Rate National Park Service!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) So you think Guaranteed Rate was the White Sox first and only call? Maybe these other companies don't see value in putting their name on a stadium. It probably would be very hard to determine what kind of business is generated just by purchasing naming rights. I'm sure they took the best deal. I really doubt they were thinking, let's pick these guys because it will really piss some people off. If the White Sox were in first place right now, people wouldn't care about this at all. It's just a case of trying to kick someone when they are down. You're 100% right. But they aren't in first place. And they haven't been very often for the last 10 years. And with fanbase morale dropping lower and lower, the fans feel like they are getting kicked when they are down. People will forget about it if they start winning. That feels like a big if right now.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) Guess you don't remember Mopeface Jones He is not on baseball reference. Are you making him up? Let's not take away Shields title he rightfully earned. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Dodgers put their 27th player on the DL this season tying the all time record. Friedman got $250 million to run a team, but is almost back to running the Rays with these injuries. Impressive they caught up with the Giants when they did

Holy s***. It's just a name, but holy s***. This franchise is just wow.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) They are messing around. They are f***ing idiots. They want him to take a deal that other #3 picks don't take. They want him to take a deferred Signing Bonus but they also want to recoup money if he's injured or cut prior to his deal ending. If he goes back into next year's draft at age 22, the Chargers receive nothing in return. This is firmly on the Chargers at this point. I understand that, the Chargers have a history of being idiots, and the CBA doesn't favor rookies. But at the same time, is Joey Bosa really gonna pass up $22 million guaranteed to sit out and go back in the draft next year? What if he gets injured? What if he gets drafted much lower? At some point you gotta just take that life changing money.

Duncan Keith to skip the World Cup of Hockey to rest up the knee he had surgery on. That's fine by me. I really love the Olympics and I'll probably watch the World Cup, but it's a little harder to get into with the silly Team North America and Team Europe (or rest of) squads.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) Some not so great news for the exchanges: Aetna Backs Off Plans to Expand Its ACA Business Health insurer’s moves underscore concerns about stability of insurance marketplaces Great. Last fall Blue Cross basically told their non-group plan members to f*** off so we had to go through the marketplace. The two best options I remember were Harken and Land of Lincoln. Luckily, I chose the brand new Harken because Land of Lincoln just folded a few weeks ago. Although I don't know if Harken actually exists because I have yet to receive a single claim correspondence, nothing big thankfully. They pride themselves on their wellness centers where every member has free access to their physicians. My wife wasn't feeling well and called to make appointment, they said, sure, we can see you in 3 weeks.

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) The Cubs have 3-4 possible MVP candidates for the next three years. Talk about hitting it big. Its one thing to have cant miss prospects but to have so many that follow through with reaching full potential is remarkable. I'm annoyed with how they acquired those MVP prospects. Rizzo was a buddy-buddy deal because Hoyer was from SD. Bryant was a draft pick because the Astros are complete morons. I'll give Theo credit for fleecing Beane to get Russell, but everyone called that trade crazy from day one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 07:17 AM) Tim Anderson has 1.5 WAR in 61 games, or 3.7 if projected out to 150 games. And he would barely sniff a list of top 10 young shortstops in the game, there's just so much talent at the position now. But if he could keep up that pace, it would be a small glimmer of light for the Sox future.

I hope not, he is fun bad now. I want to see that ERA in the double digits.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Addison Russell looks like he could be a 4 WAR player at age 22. Wow. By my count he'd be the 5th age 22 shortstop to hit 4 WAR in the past year.

QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Haha, sometimes you got to work the system. StubHub will survive I'm sure. I don't think StubHub will lose anything. The person who sold the tickets will. Whenever I sell anything on there, they always put a big warning, that you must list all obstructions or any similar issues with the tickets. If you don't, you can be charged the full cost of the ticket.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 07:14 AM) Why does that bother you? You're not going. Pearl Jam still has a huge following. My cousin has been in their Ten club forever. I just didn't realize they still had such a big following, now all of a sudden their Wrigley shows are hyped like the original Woodstock.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) I'm thinking they shouldn't do swimming and gymnastics in the same timeframe. One of the events needs to happen during the MLB All Star Break, that's the one week where there are no major pro or college sports going on, those sports dominate this country too much. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Pearl Jam rocked my nuts off last night. Before Theo Epstein arrived in Chicago, I had no idea Pearl Jam still had a fanbase. Now they are easily the most popular band in town.

I can't believe the Olympics are already over, so quick. I wish the US cared at all about the non major four sports. They are entertaining to watch but even the track world championships get zero publicity in the states. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) I don't understand how the USA is always so terrible at passing the baton. At least they didn't drop it this year but they cost themselves a bunch of time with their passes. It obviously almost certainly doesn't matter with Jamaica having Bolt at the end but they could have made it close. The baton passing is why a team like Japan can win the silver. They have no superstar sprinters but they are so smooth at the transitions. The US, not so much. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Bolt is just awesome to watch For a split second I thought it was a race and got excited. Then Bolt happened. While close finishes are exciting, it's something else to see somebody so dominant.
