QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) It's strange how different everyone reacts to getting their wisdom teeth out. Some people are back to work next day, some are laid up for a week I was in college, my experience was as painless as can be. I didn't even need the Vicodin they game me. (Yet it still disappeared )

Chargers announce the signing of Joey Bosa. Bummer, I was hoping for the drama of a season long holdout.

I did a 16-team NCAA football draft last night. If all my guys are still on the depth chart this Saturday, I call it a success.

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 07:27 AM) They didn't. That's just them airing an international feed; in this case BT Sport. Basically, unless it's Arlo White, you're hearing the English language feed that's broadcast all over the world, not something in-house from NBC. Interesting, good to know. It's probably because he does all the big US games, but he's my top soccer broadcaster to listen to. -
I usually avoid even watching all preseason games, but we took my 3-year old to the game Saturday, so I can't un-watch what I saw from the offense in the 1st half, so bad. But it is just preseason, and given the veteran coaching staff, I still think they will be at competitive in most games, just like last year. Only chance for the playoffs is to win every single close game.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) People always say this, but I don't quite get why it would be somehow easier to win a playoff series with these starters when we can't seem to win regular series. I tend to think we would lose 2-1 or 3-2 when Q pitches just like we do in the regular season. I can't argue with anything you say shack. It just seems like the type of rotation you see get hot in the playoffs and win it all. Maybe a couple home run hitters start feeling it to get those couple of runs needed. Or Kluber/Carrasco/Salazar win every game 2-0 like you said. Just get there for once!

This conversation is silly. In the past 15 years, only 3 times has the team with the best regular season record won the World Series. (Ironically, two of those were Red Sox) The Cubs are the best team in baseball, but anything can happen in the MLB Playoffs, especially with a best of 5 series thrown in there, potentially against Kershaw twice. That's why I like when Theo originally said that his goal is to build a playoff contender year after year. Baseball is too fickle to try and build a one-time champion, give yourself as many chances as possible in the playoffs. (The 2005 Sox did the one-time thing, but the last ten years have shown us differently.)

I'll say it again. Can somebody please get the Sox in the playoffs so we can see Sale/Q/Rodon in a short series? The playoffs would be the easy part,:getting there is a b****.

Awesome that NBC hired on Ian Drake for the Premier League games -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 12:22 AM) Jeez Bryant might be the best player in baseball this year Mark Appel = Sam Bowie

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) I legit just thought about paying $3.99 on Comcast to rent The Departed instead of going upstairs to grab the bluray. #firstworldproblems #humblebrag

The Blue Jays are getting the old band back together!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) Yep. He will be a top pick again and sign with a team that isn't run by f***ing morons What's to stop the Chargers from picking him again?
-
Yasiel Puig or Jeff Francoeur?
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) If he had some good Latin influences like Abreu and Melky to set him straight, I don't see any reason why Puig couldn't thrive in Chicago. The Dodgers starting catcher is from Cuba.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) I don't think it makes any difference. He skips a year of wear and tear of the NFL and is just a year older for FA. Not playing for San Diego is probably worth that Unless he gets picked 3rd again, his rookie contract will most likely be smaller. That doesn't matter for the mighty Bosa tycoons though. The funny thing with this offset language argument is that so rarely matters anyway, especially with the 3rd overall pick.

Bernstein: Sources say White Sox might be for sale

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) I'm confused, was Berlin actually a Sox fan growing up or did he become a token one when became a limited partner? That whole article to me read like a business man choosing investments, nothing to do with real fandom. -
If there is any team that I could see calling a player's bluff it would be the Chargers. They have shown a very cheap side, their whole stadium/relocation situation is in disarray, so pissing off a fanbase about a draft pick isn't that important right now. If Bosa doesn't need the money, I could see him sitting out the season.

I have no idea what trigger warnings or safe spaces are, but I still don't get how this will stop protesters from disrupting speeches. If 300 kids come in chanting and screaming and refuse to leave a speech, are they actually going to arrest them? Is that what this is hinting at?

Dodgers trade AJ Ellis to the Phillies for Carlos Ruiz among other players. I get the offensive upgrade but wow, Ellis was Kershaw's personal catcher and best friend.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) I think it will eventually be the Rate or GRate. One I thought was good was the G spot. The bad attendance jokes write themselves with that one.

New European soccer season, time for a new thread that no one cares about cause it's soccer. Champions League Draw today. Legia Warsaw made it! Now they get to be curb stomped by Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Maybe they can salvage a point against Sporting Lisbon.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Ok...all of you are beyond ridiculous. If this were 2005 and the White Sox were winning, no one would care. The reality is this gives money to keep the stadium nice, making it a more attractive place to watch the game, while also providing the Sox with some additional revenue opportunities (other cell deals + the fact that as part of this they inked a separate deal with Guaranteed Rate). And you know what, none of you have to call it anything other then Sox park or Comiskey. You can call it whatever you want. This deal has absolutely zero correlation with the White Sox current track record / on field performance and if anything, should give some slight positives in the sense that they should have some additional revenue that could actually go to the club payroll as a result of this. No fan is not going to go because of the stadium name, etc, and no player is going to play worse because there is a downward arrow on a sponsor's logo (and if they are creative they can tie it into some marketing, where Sox pitchers ERA's continue to trend lower..just like the rates you can get on your next mortgage from Guaranteed rate. I realize the Sox suck, but all of your a bunch of overreacting whiners who would whine about anything vs. focusing on whining about what matters (the product ON the field). But they aren't winning and they do suck and we've all been complaining about the product on the field for years and nothing has changed. This is just like an extra (albeit minor and silly) nut punch from a franchise going nowhere.
