Happy Blackhawks Opening Night!!! OK, maybe it's preseason. And maybe Toews, Kane, Hammer, Hossa, Crawford, Panarain, Keith, Seabrook, etc., aren't playing. But hey, hockey! I've never gone to a preseason game, but figure if there is any better time to take a 3-year old to her first Hawks game, it's tonight.

JJ Watt re injures his back, likely to be placed on IR. Back injuries are never good, see Crede, Joe.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Yep. Marchand just got 8 yrs for 6.1 mil. Do it and worry about the cap later. (Bye bye Kruger/Seabrook) Once Trump wins the election, the rich will move to Canada, the Canadian economy and dollar will prosper, and the salary cap will skyrocket. Problem solved.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) With Sale struggling in his last start and Kluber coming out of his last one with an injury. I think it's safe to say that Porcello is now actually the front runner with Kluber and Sale closely behind. The voters have already voted, so any performances after the fact will be irrelevant. All 3 will finish the season with around 5 fWAR. So I don't think it'll be a travesty if any one wins over the other. Porcello's string of hot starts in September has put him within the margin of error in my opinion. Before that stretch, I thought he'd be an afterthought. They vote a week before the season ends?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) A bag of signed Jose Fernandez baseballs, also containing his checkbook, washed up on the shore yesterday about a mile from the accident. Quick, somebody alert CNN, maybe he was on MH Flight 370? Sorry, too soon?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) Wilson Ramos leaves with a knee injury. Everything is coming up Cubbie this year. Torn ACL right before free agency. Cross one off the Sox list

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) Welp....that debate was more embarrassing then I ever suspected. We lost as a country. What horrific candidates we have on both sides. As an American and a voter, I feel like I should have watched it, but I just can't. I don't like either candidate, don't want to vote for either one, and it makes me not care. This rigid two party system sucks. Even when you get a 3rd candidate, his chances of competing are 0.00001%.

Reggie Lewis and Drazen Petrovic come to mind. Neither was as good as Fernandez, although Petrovic was about to break out before his car crash

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) I know...but the defense couldn't stop anything all night. That was clearly a time to depart from traditional strategy based on information available at the time. Again, this is John Fox and the NFL we are talking about. Processing available information to depart from traditional strategy is not an option. Look how long it has taken to finally get coaches to go for it on 4th and inches.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) Are we just going to ignore yesterday was his last game at Dodger Stadium? Got a little choked up when they played his version of "Wind Beneath My Wing". Of course miserable internet people want to take this time to say Vin isn't that great and talks too much etc, because that is what this is about. /eyeroll No, that's Hawk.

I went to the Braves game right before the All-Star Break, and have watched about 5 minutes of Sox baseball since then. I get Yahoo Sports score alerts and follow the beat writers on Twitter, so I still kind of know what's going on sometimes.

If I didn't need another reason to root against the Cubs, it's all this David Ross tribute s***. A career journeyman backup catcher, two years in Chicago, many fans thought a waste of a roster spot, but he is best buds with Theo and Lester, so treat him like Carlton f***ing Fisk.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Looks like Howard is now the preferred back. He was such a beast in college on bad teams. I would much rather let him take over instead of Langford.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) Can't win 1 home game a year and survive. Yeah, you're telling me, I have tickets for all those home games! I guess it depends how long they will give Pace. If you are gonna let him hire a new coach, he probably deserves at least 2 or 3 years
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Fox looking like a bad bad hire. I think the roster is a bigger problem than the coach. Two high first round draft picks for Pace are still wild cards, that's not good on today's NFL

When your favorite team gives up 3 rushing touchdowns, but zero from the starting RB on your fantasy team. ..

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Where was the off-sides? You should be able to review that somehow, what a bad call.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Bears win tonight. How? No idea, but that's just what they do. We talk about a QB and a top 3 pick, they will somehow win 6 or 7 games and get the 10th pick. Or not.
-
Arnold Palmer, 87

Damn, I lived at 2nd and Green senior year, was always in the area.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) Coast Guard going on ESPN SportsCenter at 930. If anyone can watch and give a summary, that would be great. Around 3 AM a 30 foot boat was spotted upside down on the rock jetty. Two bodies under the vessel, one in the water, dead on the scene. Weird press conference, lots of giggles before it actually started.

Whoa. He was gonna win multiple Cy Youngs. Whoa.
