QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) GTF is amazing, so is their new place GT prime. They had oysters from new Zealand that no other place has, they were incredible. The other food was great too, but damn those small plates add up on your bill quickly.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 07:33 AM) There's more Illini fans on this board than any other team so it's understandable that you guys complain the most but holy hell it's on another level. Every freakin game, in every freakin sport. As an Illini fan, I want to like this post 1000 times. I glance at Illini message boards and I see conspiracy talk. Are you kidding me? All college refs suck. It's just a shock to the system for Illini fans cause they are so rarely in close games. Major fail by Lovie to punt on 4th down, but didn't expect any different from him. The defense had just been on the field for 11 minutes, they weren't gonna stop anybody. Liked how the announcers called it a NFL decision. -
Does it have to be a major announcement? Can it just be a standard end of the season blah blah blah meeting with the press?

Did that Ferentz contract extension say anything about beating Northwestern once in a while? -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Coaching is key and recruiting follows. They will be a force. Last night they were retweeting a Bruce Feldman tweet from 2013. Essentially it said Pat Haden didn't think Chris Petersen would be a good fit with how USC runs things. Oops. He screwed that program up badly with his coaching hires. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 01:00 AM) Anybody getting bored with Ohio State and Alabama dominance? How do they do it every single year? And b.) Miles should have left LSU on his own after last season or the year before. The cliche hit poor Les. Been there 10 years so people with $$$$ get very very tired of you if you are not winning national championships. Good luck to LSU. Their new coach won't do any better, but the cliche hit Les. It was time for him to go; the alums got tired of him. Little surprised OU alums aren't doing the same to Stoops. Anybody getting bored with Kansas and Duke dominance in basketball? The best players go to the best programs. That's why pro leagues have drafts. -
Nothing like Dioner Navarro stepping to the plate in a big moment. Blue Jays lose

Majorly impressive first half from Washington, they look legit. Stanford is shook on the road. Shocking Stat of the day: Christian McCaffrey has zero touchdowns in 12 true road games. -
Parents are taking the kids Saturday night so we can celebrate my birthday. Been on a oyster kick recently, so might try GT FIsh & Oyster Saturday night, then going to the Bears game Sunday.

Amazing. This might be my fav: "Man wasn't even within 500 ft of the park. Dude was just chillin at home and peeked his head out the window."

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) I'm questioning the wisdom of pairing Westwood (aging player not on the top of his game) with Pieters (good young player but his first experience at the Ryder Cup). Why no put Pieters with someone like Rory and give yourself a chance in 2 matches v. basically throwing up the white flag in the match against Johnson/Kuchar? Good call, Pieters/Rory together in the afternoon vs. DJ/Kuchar Speith/Reed vs. Rose/Stenson Holmes/Moore vs. Garcia/Cabrera Sneds/Brooks vs. Kaymer/Willett

I'm more questioning the wisdom of selecting Westwood as a captain's pick instead of someone like Russell Knox. Experience is great and all, but you still have to be good at golf. Westwood is not the same player anymore, but he is buddy buddy with Darren Clarke.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) right, now it is 100% conservatives who ban everyone at the drop of a hat That is because the liberal mods expect us to do all the hard work while they just reap the benefits. Hey, that sounds familiar....

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Arrieta's been fairly mediocre in the second half. If you're Maddon, do you even start him game 1? Lester and Hendricks have been much more effective. From what I have seen the rotation is set as Lester, Hendricks, Arrieta. Lester has a 1.74 home ERA, Hendricks 1.32 at home.

I have never seen the manufacturing economy as bad as it is now. We have customers across various industries, and 90% of them are struggling, seeing lots of hours cut, some lay offs. Hoping it turns around once the election circus ends, but not keeping hopes up.

QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) How did the kid like going to the game? She thought it was a lot of fun, being at the game we see on TV, and all the people wearing Blackhawks gear cheering together (not that there was much to cheer about last night). She doesn't get the sport yet, so after yelling about those pesky Penguins, she did get bored, which is why you bring snacks to keep her entertained for a while. Made it more than halfway though the 2nd period until she asked to get home, so not bad. We did a Sox game and Bears preseason game earlier this year, she likes the sporting events, just not for more than 90 minutes, ha. The funniest part was she was very amused by the beer vendors. "Daddy, you like beer, you should buy one!" OK, so I do. Then it was like, "Daddy, where's your beer? You need to drink more of it, get another one!" I'm just looking around, like I hope nobody hears all of this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) If Reinsdorf were so desperate to win, then he'd be after the manager's head after being told he had a competitive team 2 years in a row and then winding up a 4th place afterthought. At the worst he'd be saying "why not, we're desperate to win, try someone else" Having the organization made of the guys he wants there is a bigger priority for him. Winning is lower on the list than that. Those final two sentences sum up everything about the organization in my opinion. It'sthe same reason Kenny got "fired" into a promotion.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Even though I said this may be a nice way for robin to go out from sox, they could have easily done it without a press leak. Really dumb. It's like Jerry wants to protect his brand of loyalty publicly, completely ignoring that this announcement can alienate the fanbase.
