QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) Eh I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jays take the next 3. Eh? I see what you did there. It won't be easy, but in that dome, the Blue Jays can do anything. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Well, maybe just the posters who are particularly piqued anytime something positive is said about KC. Last year, the response was they were just lucky, sucked for a long time, wouldn't repeat/flukey, Yost was a terrible manager and emulating their rebuild would require sucking for 28 years. Well, no, it took them six and one-half or seven years to build a consistent contender. Moore became GM on June 8th, 2006, exactly when the White Sox "dynasty" was peaking that year. By year 7, they were ten games over .500 and competitive at the end of the season. Then two consecutive ALCS appearances and the resources to definitely get at least one more. Of course, it has also been seven years of rebuilding for the White Sox and nobody is even expecting .500 in Year 8. And that's with the Royals getting a tiny share compared to the Tigers or White Sox for RSN. They've gone from 26th to 25th to 10th this season in attendance as well. We were 24th, 28th and 26th. Surprise, surprise...winning (even though they lost to SFG) leads to more fan support. Hating on the Royals is so 2014, get with the times. Hosmer and Moustakas still suck, but other than that, whatever. It's funny to see the contrast between them and the Cubs. One team doesn't strike out and always makes contact. The other team hits a homer, walks, or strikes out. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) Eh, I'd say deGrom is their best pitcher. It's Harvey's first year back from TJ and to be honest, he hasn't been that great since his good start to the season. He had a 0.33 ERA in August. DeGrom might be better, but my point was that he seems forgotten since his innings scandal, but that's a pretty damn good pitcher to be a hidden #3.
-
With all the appearances by deGrom and Thor, I kind of forgot about Matt Harvey and the fact that he is probably their best pitcher. Interesting match-up with one team hoarding young pitchers vs. the other hoarding young hitters.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) I thought it was obvious my post was sarcasm. Swing... dat doom reference tho. Well played. My sarcasm meter is on a 3-day weekend. Given that half the thread was complaining about the media coverage and the fanbase, I thought people were actually playing that card a lot.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) If you don't root for your city's team, you're just a hater. Is this really a thing? I honestly don't watch any local news or radio. All of my Cubs fan friends would actually be pissed if I DID start rooting for the Cubs.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 07:43 PM) I still think he wants to end his career in St. Louis or Chicago No thanks, he can go to St. Louis.
-
The Cubs fanbase is at least double the size of the Sox, if not more. And that doesn't count all the more Cubs fans outside of Chicago. Why would you expect the media to spend more time on the Sox?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Mets are going to cost Familia 100 million with how they abuse the ever living f*** out of him. It's not 1900. Haha, you aren't kidding. It's like when every Braves set-up guy needed Tommy John in the past year or two. Delin Betances is next too.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) de grom is a great comp for Carson fulmer, despite the differences in height. Similar arm action. De grom with a better change up, fulmer with a better curve. De grom clearly with better command Fulmer could only dream of growing such beautiful hair

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) If in October of 2005, you had the choice of the White Sox winning the WS and having the next decade go like it has gone, or losing the WS and duplicating the Tigers since then with a WS appearance, and plenty of playoff appearances, but no wins, what do you choose? How about I choose both? A WS win and a sustained run of success? This WS title is gonna end up being a curse to the franchise with fans thinking like you.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Well he hasn't been there before. To each their own but in my world if you hit a homerun like that, do whatever the f*** you want to do. If the pitcher has a problem with it then don't let up the homer. Agreed. Everyone demands that players give 110%, but when they get a little fired up people get mad if they show too much emotion. This was an interesting breakdown about how many altercations involve players of different etnnicites: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...jmUlmjeyXNu7vAA

Jeremy Reed? Bralon Addison? -
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 07:45 AM) This board is going to be ten years of misery. The Cubs are going to win for a long time. They're way ahead of schedule. The Nationals had the NL locked up for the next 5 years too. The Cubs very well may dominate, but s*** happens in baseball.

That performance alone made the Cueto trade worth it IMO.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Lots of vacant homes coming soon to a prediction near you! Get em while they're not baby! Not so fast my friend, he did predict 7-2!

This is pure madness. I don't know what the rule is regarding hitting the bat, but the umpire called the play dead when Odor was still running. How could it count? Stop throwing beers assholes!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) What would it take for him to be considered inadequate? He's been the GM for the Robin Ventura era, except the season they won 85 games, who supposedly has shown all he is inadequate. Gave him an extension. Signed Jeff Keppinger, Belisario, thought Hector Noesi was a #4 starter, likes Avi Garcia, had Gillaspie and Micah starting on opening day, so apparently doesn't think much of defense. Still seems to think Tyler Flowers is a good idea. Blew $4 million on Bonifacio. Blew $4 million on Scott Downs, spent $25 million on LaRoche, the list goes on and on. What he is, in essence ,is Jay Cutler's back up QB. People are hoping against hope he knows what he is doing without much evidence, except for contract extensions, he does. People hate KW, therefore, like RH, when the reality is they probably agree more than disagree. This is pretty much proven on this website. He was lauded for the moves made last winter. Most thought the Sox were a contending team. When that went by the boards, all these moves Rick was lauded for were the idea of KW. So you want Rick Hahn fired? Noted.
