QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:51 AM) Since this is from Rogers I'm not buying it, but in theory, Crain could have a couple rehab appearances, get traded while still on the DL, and then the Braves could still have him some more before coming back. I assume they can do a conditional PTBNL. If Crain makes this many appearances, you get this guy. But if he suffers a setback, you get this lower-level prospect.

Crain & Lindstrom get traded. Peavy, Rios, & Alexei stay put. Soxtalk crashes the night of July 31 from all the anti-Rick Hahn threads started.
-
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:33 AM) 670 the Score just reported that if Crain can prove he is healthy that there is basically a done deal with the Braves for Crain. Per Phil Rogers I saw it as a credible story until you added the last 3 words.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 01:15 AM) LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Tim Brown @TBrownYahoo now Yankees close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano, according to NY Post. If Soriano waives his no-trade clause. He said no to a trade to the Giants last year, who needs a WS title?

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 7m Addison Reed on the White Sox trading Jake Peavy: "It's probably going to happen." Story on Peavy and Rios on the way soon... Details https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien Since when is Addison Reed the source on who the Sox will trade? Does he know Trade Winds has a thread about him? -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) The obvious implication is that something must have happened while the sample was in the collector's home. If he hadn't brought the sample home, then there wouldn't have been a problem, Braun would have no excuse.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) Who else had access to it and how could he follow protocol when protocol requires him to ship using a company that is closed? I don't know, I wasn't at his house. And it was determined that there were FedEx offices open in Milwaukee that Saturday night.
-
He refers to the collector and the entire process, and since the collection wasnt shipped immediately, it could have been ruined by Laurenzi or by anyone else. The collector didn't follow protocol and ship on Saturday, he is not the victim.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) He followed the correct procedure and his work was sound by international standards. However, MLB had not clearly spelled out the procedure in their rules, so no matter what he did Braun could challenge it. Anyone else could have challenged a positive test if it occurred after the close of FedEx on Friday if they'd had a good enough lawyer. But he didn't need to come out and say that there was some horribly suspicious thing he'd found out about the tester. He questioned the entire collection process, of which the collector was part of. He didn't specifically accuse Laurenzi of sabotaging the sample himself. MLB's rules may be stupid, but an arbitrator ruled that the process wasn't performed correctly. IMO he does not owe him an apology at all.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Taking steroids is one thing but to try and literally ruin someone's life by being a lying asshole is just on a whole other level of jackassness. Um, the collector f***ed up and didn't follow correct procedure. If he had done his job correctly, Braun would have been suspended last year. Braun may still be a jackass, but facts are facts.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) With the money they'll have to spend, they're going to use a lot of these prospects to go after the likes of David Price, etc. Their organization is in a far better place now than it was a year ago, despite the lack of improvement by Castro. Especially if there are two PTBNL and Ramirez is one of them, this was an incredible deal by the Cubs. The Rangers are giving up more for Garza than they did for Cliff Lee. Justin Smoak was a top-15 prospect in all of baseball when the Cliff Lee trade went down, which is hard to believe if you have seen him play for the Mariners.
-
His positive drug test came after game 2 of the 2011 NLDS, a series in which he slashed .500/.571/.889
-
Very convenient that the Brewers suck and Braun has been battling an injury all season. Probably the best time for him to cut a deal.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) It's amazing how much more the Cubs got for Garza as opposed to Dempster last year. Garza has recently proven himself in the AL, I would argue he's a much better pitcher than Dempster. Plus, that was at the deadline after the Cubs flubbed the earlier trade, so they were more desperate.
-
What exactly are the Cubs gonna do with Olt? 1st base is locked up, and if I am to believe the hype, Bryant should be in the majors at 3B very soon. Can he play in the outfield?
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) At least you get Sale vs. Scherzer. Should be fun to watch. I was gonna say, I might actually tune in tonight for that pitching matchup.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Charlie Weis cut a good line today at Media Day. Asked how he has managed to sign some decent recruits at horrific football program Kansas, he said something to the effect of: "they want to play. I tell them, 'Have you seen that pile of crap' out there? (on field for Kansas).'" Not bad in this day and age of P.C. Yeah that's awesome. Way to call out a bunch of college kids who weren't recruited by you, but now mostly have no choice but to play under you. Just when you think Weis can't be a larger horse's ass, he proves you wrong. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) I know, he should have been there right? The starting RB was dismissed, if anything thats a positive trait of Urban. Zero tolerance. Hyde wasn't dismissed, just suspended from team activities pending investigation. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 01:06 PM) Hard to argue, though Posey's megadeal scares me off as a catcher (and megadeals are scary in general) I agree although I must admit that I never realized how good of a hitter Posey was, catcher or no catcher.

The top 10: 10. CarGo 9. Goldschmidt 8. Stanton 7. Harvey 6. Posey 5. Longoria 4. McCutchen 3. Machado 2. Harper 1. Trout

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) Let me put it this way... The last time Grady Sizemore played a full season was the last time Frank Thomas did. Aaron Rowand has hit a home run more recently than Grady Sizemore has.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:38 AM) Wow, what an amazing back 9 by Phil to win it, and nobody deserves it more. He took the drama out of it, but it was awesome to see such a dominating peformance to win.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:37 AM) Princess Kate in the hospital in labor. I think they send up black smoke every few hours if there is no baby yet, and then white smoke when there finally is a baby. Are they gonna pass the royal baby around England like the Stanley Cup?
