  1. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) I'm liking the early trade winds, love hearing Hahn is asking for top prospects from each team, if we are able to get Xander (BOS), Bundy (BAL), Russel (OAK) that's a start of an amazing return all 3 of those guys are going to be legit stars. Personally like I said last night it will be Boston or St. Louis it just makes too much sense for these teams. I would like it to be STL Or Bos. Personally if we can get Martinez (size ?'s or not this guy has electric stuff, I see him as a Pedro Martinez type) and/or Adams or Wong + 2-3 prospects in the 15-30 range. I believe Hahn comes out on top and we will be talking about his first deadline in a few years when these guys are all hitting the field. If Bundy is the centerpiece of a Peavy deal, then Rick Hahn failed miserably. I don't care how talented Bundy is. You don't give up the top pitcher on the market for a guy who just had major surgery. The Sox aren't trading Paul Malholm here. Not everybody recovers well from Tommy John either.
  2. Tigers trade for Jose Veras from the Astros, so /thread
  3. QUOTE (tylermichels13 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:35 AM) Hello everyone! My first post here and it is going to start with a bang. "In any case, the Orioles' aggression is notable. Sources say the team is even willing to move one of its top prospects, right-hander Dylan Bundy, for the right return. Bundy, 20, underwent Tommy John surgery last month, but the success rate of pitchers recovering from the operation is quite good. The Chicago Cubs acquired right-hander Arodys Vizcaino from the Atlanta Braves last season just four months after he had the surgery. Vizcaino, 22, was the centerpiece of the package that the Cubs acquired for left-hander Paul Maholm and outfielder Reed Johnson. What follows is speculation: The Orioles wouldn't trade Bundy straight-up for say, a year-plus of Peavy, but they might include him as part of a larger package in which they could get another player, perhaps second baseman Gordon Beckham, in return." - Per Rosenthal. http://sports.mobile.msn.com/en-us/mlb/art...49&pg1=5001 Welcome to Soxtalk! Peavy has way too much trade value for the centerpiece of a deal to be a guy coming off Tommy John. The success rate is good, but it's no guarantee. It's funny how he says the Orioles wouldn't trade Bundy straight-up for Peavy, but there is no way in hell the Sox would even think about that deal either.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:33 AM) Just as an aside, I want to meet the team that says to itself "What our bullpen needs in the playoffs is Kevin Gregg". Well get your dancing shoes out of the closet because you will meet that team this week. He will be traded.
  5. I like Jake and do think he is a great pitcher, but I just feel like his bark is greater than his bite. Throughout his career he has not performed well in big games, yet everyone wants him on the mound in crunch time because he is "competitive". Injuries are bad luck, but considering his salary I would say his tenure with the Sox has been a wash due to all the missed time. It is great that he always gives 110%, unlike some (Rios), but I'm sure a guy like Axelrod does too, yet he doesn't have a fan club.
  6. I must be the only one on Soxtalk who isn't enamored with Peavy.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 05:38 PM) When the payroll is over 100 million, yes he should. He's getting a free pass because he's Robin Ventura. If Mark Parent or Joe McEwing got the job at the same time, and the team was playing like this, everyone would be calling for the manager's head. He's getting a free pass because he's a 2nd year manager who replaced a loud ego-maniac and half the fanbase doesn't give a s*** right now anyway.
  8. Peyton Manning's center tore his ACL. #Injurywatch2013 continues.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Hanson returned to the dugout. It was just Montezuma's revenge
  10. Kevin Gregg just pitched three days in a row. I guess the Sox aren't the only organization that lets trade bait actually take the mound before the trade deadline.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) CJ Edwards strikes out first 7 guys he faces in his debut for Cubs minor league team Were all 7 at-bats against Kris Bryant?
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 05:15 PM) Konerko with a gem: https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/361609448223031298 A+
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) They also have Joakim Soria Has he even pitched in the majors yet?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) Dunn hasn't homered since the All Star break. I wonder why the Sox suddenly have no power. Sox are really defenseless unless the pitcher hurls a shutout and we don't get many of those either. Jinx
  15. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 4m For Peavy, Sox targeting tip-top prospects. Interested teams figure price will come down and see Sox taking multiple instead. Need depth.
  16. Jeff Passan tweets that a deal is not imminent, Hahn still talking to multiple teams. Asking price higher than Garza deal.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) That way he's set for the next 2 months. I get that, but he's getting traded across the country, not across the world. Have some stuff shipped buddy!
  18. Two home runs for Wil Myers today. Ho hum.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) Pujols having an MRI on his foot. Wow, and Josh Hamilton has a sub-.700 OPS on the year. Albert probably out for the season. That contract may end up worse than A-Rod's.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) Bruce Levine sez Peavy brought 5 full suit cases on trip and feels today is the last day for Peavy with the Sox. 5 full suitcases??? Those are some hefty baggage fees!
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 11:46 PM) Kirkjan was just on Baseball Tonight and he said he thinks Peavy goes and Rios stays because he's not a big enough difference maker to championship ball clubs. That's what they said about Geoff Blum!
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 11:08 PM) DBacks get spanked by the Padres. Skaggs lit up for 7 earned. Panic mode for them yet? They have BMac & Cahill at AAA rehab starts already, they will just wait for them.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) Maybe they've just resigned to the fact that we can't scout/develop position players "f*** it, we just won't allow ANY runs!" That's the Giants gameplan and they have won 2 of the 3 World Series. Unfortunately, the Sox play in a hitters park, in the AL, with Miggy Cabrera in the same division.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) DeAza's pretty fast too. But it's still station to station with absolutely nobody getting the hits with men on base. The White Sox are 9th in baseball in batting average with RISP. They are 27th in OBP. They are getting hits when runners are on, it's just that people aren't getting on base very often.
