  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) The sick thing is his BABIP hasn't gone down very much in the last week. Ha, cause he hasn't put anything in play.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) Cell phones have been like this for a while now -- we also can't see the 400+dpi range they use now on 1080p screens, but people don't seem to care. Any screen below 50" that's 1080p is a waste. I went back and forth between a Moto X and Nexus 5 recently. There is a noticeable difference. The Moto X has a 316 ppi screen and the Nexus 5 a 445 ppi screen. It's not night and day or anything, but if you put the screens next to each other, you notice the difference in sharpness. I can't say the same for a QHD screen, because I haven't used one yet, but I thought this video was interesting:
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) Just briefly looked up the new LG G3. Is there some big improvements I am missing? I mean, I love the G2, best phone I've ever had, but comparing specs between the two, it seems like a better screen is the only real difference, other than things like being able to remove the battery and adding external storage (both of which absolutely needed to happen). I didn't see anything about it being waterproof, which was always a feature I wanted to see, so I guess it's a good thing my G2 is still running like a champ *knock on wood*. More RAM, better processor, less crappy-looking software, faux-metal plastic instead of that awful plastic on the G2.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) Tesla announces that it's turning all of its patents over to open source http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/all-our-pa...-are-belong-you That's so refreshing in the era of patent trolling. Tesla is an awesome company and I'd totally get one if the infrastructure for electric cars improve.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) Also, re: WWDC. Something I saw mentioned a while after the fact that could be a big problem. We're assuming the iPhone 6 will be a significant size increase - I think I saw reports of 4.7" screens being manufactured. Between TouchID and the fact that iOS 8 shows no signs of on-screen navigation buttons, we're talking about a device with that big physical home button being huge relative to screen size. It could rival the LG G3 in footprint while still having a smaller screen than all competitors. It's nowhere near the size of the G3, it's about as big as a Nexus 5. The leaked model that's been floating around is very thin though, around 6 mm. However, its height and width matches that of a Nexus 5. Due to the home button, there's a lot of bezel.
  6. Greg Oden sighting. See guys, they were just saving him for the Finals!
  7. If only the Spurs made their free throws in game 2... Hopefully the Spurs can put this team away in game 5, because if they don't, I'd start to worry a bit.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) Nate Silver's 538 calculates each teams's odds to advance from the group stage and stay alive in each knockout round. http://fivethirtyeight.com/interactives/world-cup/ 34.5% of the US getting out of the group...I'll take it.
  9. Wow, Abreu caught that falling down.
  10. No more runs Johnny.
  11. What an inning. We scored 6 runs with 2 outs.
  12. Conor just can't catch a break...still no homers.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Fathom, what do you want Ausmus to do? Can't take Verlander out. Verlander won't allow it. Just like Peavy. Let Krol (a lefty) face Eaton... Krol's a decent pitcher.
  14. Verlander's just not the same pitcher. He's still got good velocity, but his location with his good fastballs is all over the place. He has trouble putting hitters away.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) LOL at Hawk going nuts over De Aza's routine catch. I think Hawk thought it was going to be smoked off the wall. lol that was about as routine as a play could get.
  16. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 06:56 PM) Reports now of the heat big 3 all opting out and taking reduced salaries to get Carmelo Anthony to join them. I think that happening would finally cause me to stop watching the NBA. That'll never happen. Plus, I really doubt Melo is going to take a 50% paycut to be LeBron's wingman. The Player's Association will also have something to say about it.
  17. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Huh. Shows what I know. I always thought the guy who did the wavy arms thing was the guy to get it. OFer does have priority in that case. However, Lexi had that easily.
  18. Jesus Christ De Aza...WTF?
  19. I'd trade Noah for Love in an instant. Noah's stock is never going to get higher. He just came off a season where he made the All NBA first team and won defensive player of the year. He's going to be 30 next year. Kevin Love is 25, offers way more on offense, is a monster on the boards, and can definitely improve defensively under Thibodeau.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 11:04 AM) Holy god what a throw For real, he threw that ball 100 yards on a line.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) 5 game minimum. All because he thought Donaldson tagged him too hard. Prick. Let's not forget he would have thrown his helmet at Donaldson if his momentum didn't carry him towards the ground. What a douche.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) I'm having the most first-world problem... I'm pretty sure my HTC One is water damaged and bricked. In this case, my dad is happy to use his upgrade to get himself a One M8 and give me his old iPhone 5. ...and good god do I not want to use an iPhone. The daily frustrations will kill me. But I can't turn it down, for now. Bleck Something similar happened to me recently. My Nexus 5's power button decided to go crazy, turning it on and off constantly. Unfortunately, I had no backup phone as I had sold all of mine. I bought a Moto X off Amazon for $340. Then Motorola had a 32 GB Moto X for $385 that I could customize and I decided I'll buy that and return the phone I got off Amazon. A day later, I contacted Google about the issue and they replaced my Nexus 5. So now I have too many phones... But a serious alternative, if you can spend around $350, is to buy a Moto X. It's a good phone with a few drawbacks (the camera is horrendous and the AMOLED screen sucks in bright conditions), but it's pretty much stock Android and you get great features like Touchless Controls and Active Notifications. And unlike the OnePlus One, you can actually buy one. Of course, the other alternative is a Nexus 5 or even a Moto G (Moto X without Active Notifications or Touchless Controls). They did just release a Moto G with LTE and a micro SD slot for $220 on Amazon, that's pretty enticing.
  23. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:42 PM) dont know if its just me, but i thought nothing of donaldsons tag and no reason for to machado to get so worked up about it? play I swear, baseball players get offended over nothing these days. That wasn't even that hard of a tag. And Conor Gillaspie should watch what Donaldson did on that play. Cause that's what he should have done last Monday, except Conor didn't even have to tag the runner, all he had to do was tag 3rd.
  24. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Given the knowledge bomb Hickory Huskers just dropped, I don't see why we'd go underslot at #3. Leave that to the Marlins. Give me Sands at 3 and 4+ can be undersluts I don't care. What's an underslut?
  25. We played one of the better teams in Austin tonight and won in 9 innings. Time expired after 5, so we played 4 innings of 1-pitch ball. Our pitcher only walked one and our defense was brilliant in the extra innings and we pulled out a 18-16 win (we were up 16-2 at one point). We had gotten beat by these guys 30-3, 20-4, and 17-10 the last 3 times we played them, so this was a really satisfying win.
