    QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) There are no bad statistics, just bad usage of statistics. In the end, it's things that actually happened multiplied, divided and occasionally added or subtracted together. You can choose to understand what the statistics are telling you, know their limitations, and use them to your benefit, or you can ignore them and just watch the games. Neither statistics nor your eyes are particularly good at predicting future results, though, so there's no reason to s**t on either one. I'd say stats tend to be less biased and can be better indicators of future performance. But you're right, there's no reason to s*** on either one...unless one side decides to s*** on the other first.
  2. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 28, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) I thought relievers were a dime a dozen and wouldn't count as impact players (not directed at you specifically J4L) My perspective is that relievers don't win you that many games (per say), but they sure as hell can lose you a bunch. It doesn't mean that they're not valuable, it just means that I'd rather have a good starter or position player instead.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 10:17 PM) Someone needs to make an avy with this picture: and "NEVER FORGET" written across it for the site to use. Rally Crede part dos. You're welcome.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) Yes! What a steal that was...Zach Stewart is contributing valuable innings while THAT guy sits on the DL! Neener neener! He started yesterday and threw 5 innings of 2 run ball.
  5. BTW, Chris Sale has already eclipsed his WAR (1.4) from last season this year (1.5 before this start today, that will go up by .3 after this start I bet). Good thing we kept him in the rotation.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) 2 and 0 against pitchers with out arms. 2-0 against switch pitchers (ambidextrous). DUH!
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) Can throw De Aza in here as well. Not a youngin but he'll be here on the cheap for a while. De Aza is the newest scrap heap turned gold acquisition by KW.
  8. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 28, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) What are these said numbers? I'm curious. After 0-2 Konerko is hitting .355/.429/.903. Yes, a .903 SLG. That's a 1.331 OPS. He's got 5 HR in these situations to go along with a .286 BABIP. In other words, it's not exactly luck, Konerko's just that good.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) J4L being positive about the Sox? Holy s*** He must have had too many drinks today.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) For those like myself that have chastised this organization without remorse the last 2-3 years for the complete inability to produce young, cost-controlled, impact talent the last decade or so - NOW WE'RE TALKING!!! It's about f***ing time. In Sale, Viciedo and Reed - we're looking at a potential #1 starter with Xbox on speed type stuff, a run-producing offensive beast god who deposits missiles all over the damn place and a Craig Kimbrel like android in which you know once he enters the game that it's time for hitters to bend over and take it like a porn star. These three are cheap and belong to us for the next X amount of years. That's how you build a juggernaut and go on a sustained run. This is the new-age way of running a successful baseball operation. I am for now very please. I still have concerns about Sale's health, but yeah, it appears the White Sox finally have some cheap and young talent around.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) With the surplus of pitches Sale had today anyway they can push his start back a day so we can get Kershaw/Sale??? I'm just being greedy lol Oh man, that'd be an incredible matchup.
  12. You wonder how the Indians score runs with their crappy lineup.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Which hitter besides Scott and Joyce are you talking about? Keppinger wasn't available today, neither was Jennings/Longoria. Carlos Pena. He's easily their biggest power threat.
  14. My question is, why the hell did Joe Maddon sit 3 of his best hitters today? I know that Sale's lefty and those hitters are lefties, but you shouldn't take 3 of your best guys out of the lineup. That just seems a little excessive. Maybe he was trying to give them Memorial day off or something, lol.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) Have you seen his last few starts? He had one excellent start against the Padres. Not a big deal...
  16. It's great to win a close one once in a while.
  17. OVA! Huge win!
  18. That was a little scary...
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) Reed has both righties and lefties hitting .220-ish against him, but 7 BB in 14 innings is really high for him. He had 1 BB in 7 innings in the bigs last year, and at most 14 BB in 78 innings in the minors. He walked 3 in that one outing against KC. Despite the walks, his FIP is still 2.9.
  20. 2 more to go! Joyce and Scott will come in here.
  21. Let's go Addison. Close it out for Chris Sale.
  22. Alright Dayan, get pissed. They're walking A.J. to pitch to you.
  23. Come on A.J., we need a clutch hit.
  24. Fukudome was safe? lol yeah he was.
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) .395 or .396 ish .395.
