  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:53 PM) Hawk forgetting that the Sox didn't use Jenks as a closer right away? It took Hermanson falling apart for Jenks to finally get the call. Hermanson fell apart because of the back issue, didn't he? OVA! Nice recovery by Santiago.
  2. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Get Reed warm, please Ackley and Ichiro coming up. He just needs one more out.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:50 PM) He is so not a closer, it's kind of amazing he was able to shut down the Rangers. And the Tigers too.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:50 PM) He is so not a closer, it's kind of amazing he was able to shut down the Rangers. He needs another effective pitch to go along with the fastball that he can throw for a strike. The screwball's a nice pitch, but it's usually not a strike.
  5. Alright Santiago, no home runs.
  6. Yeah, Gordon's hitch is completely gone in his swing.
  7. Gordo looks like he's changed his stance. His hands are up much higher and he got rid of that stupid hitch. Looks like it's working a bit better for him.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Lol, Amare returns, Knicks lose 98-90 to the Cavs This is a bad thing...I don't want the Bulls to play New York in the first round.
  9. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) Lmao Paulie needs to wear the protection on both feet It can't make him any slower.
  10. Adam Dunn: The Resurrection.
  11. I know this is sort of like shameless advertising...but it is baseball relevant. For my Database Systems course, my group and I created a baseball projections website called Advanced Baseball Projections. What we did is take in projection data from systems like Marcel and ZiPS and then combined them to make team projections and fantasy evaluation tools. You can also search individual players and see their projection data. It's a pretty simple site at this point and if I get some good feedback, I may take some more time to make it legit. 12. Alexei with his first walk of the year.
  13. Rios has a .785 OPS? WTF?
  14. Please send him down to AAA to mash against crap talent. It'll get his confidence back up. If he sucks down there, then well...idk.
  15. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) I still don't understand how OPS is a particularly relevant statistic for a lead-off hitter who doesn't hit home runs. Wouldn't Runs Created be more relevant? Anyway, I wouldn't argue that Pierre was in decline, but OPS seems like exactly the wrong metric to use to describe his output - at any point in his career. He never got on base enough for a leadoff hitter. Add on the fact that he hit almost nothing but singles...well you have yourself a crappy offensive player.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) It has to be the hip that makes him slow. Can't a person train to run faster? If he could train to be faster, I bet he would. It boggles my mind how Konerko is that slow. It's not like he's out of shape or anything, he's just slow footed...
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) The Royals pitching just got absolutely abused by the Tribe over the weekend. KC fans starting to grumble a bit about Yost. He was smart to stand up for his players in the bench clearing stuff Sat night cause if KC keeps this up, Yost or GM are in trouble. After losing to Verlander Monday night KC will be 0-4 at home. Royals have embarrassing commercials this year like the Sox "All In" which backfired last year. "It's Our Time" is the motto and KC's pitching coupled with some injury problems make it seem like the Royals may suck again this year. The Royals weren't going to be good this year. Their opening day starter was Bruce Chen...I think that says a lot about how bad their pitching is.
  18. I think Rose's rust is gone.
  19. Not a horrible outing by Sale. Freaking Gerald Laird killed him.
  20. Gerald f***ing Laird...ugh.
  21. Very tiring inning for Sale. Umpire blew two calls in the Raburn AB that could have made the inning a lot easier.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) You obviously don't have even the simplest understanding of how the newspaper business works. The writer of an article is not responsible for the headline. Hence the above statement does not work. We don't, but Joe Cowley does doesn't he?
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) They didn't really hit Floyd much at all. He just didn't want to give them anything to hit, kept the ball down all day, and ended up putting several on through walks and HBP Floyd has owned the Tigers in his career. He's now 7-2 against them.
