Sox ranked #24 in Fan Graphs organizational rankings
Last year's #24 was Washington. They're now #11 this year. Things can change fast. And let's not forget the dreaded #6 organization. The Mariners were #6 two years ago and fell on their face. The Twins were #6 last year and also fell on their face. Whoever's #6 this year might be screwed too... In other words, FanGraphs rankings give a good idea of which team will fail badly (the #6 organization that is) and really doesn't tell you too much about anything else.

Danks named Opening Day Starter
QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) I am a little bit worried about Danks in that first game. First opening day start and playing against his ex-team. Hope that I am wrong. Win that first game and we can win that series. Danks hasn't been bad against the Rangers. He's got a 3.81 ERA against them in his career. I remember him throwing some gems in Texas.

Santiago to be the closer? Hmmmm....
Whatever happens, please don't make Crain the closer. There's a reason Twins fans nicknamed him Crainwreck. I'm willing to give Thornton another chance now that Juan Pierre is gone and won't miss routine fly balls anymore.

Oh and I also saw the new Spiderman trailer when I went to see Hunger Games today. Emma Stone actually looks really good with blonde hair. That movie's a must-see for me.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Blah? Did you see some of the games he had last year? This is a great signing. I'm almost curious is we are letting Forte leave after next season with this pick up. Love to keep em both for a long time. Bush saved my fantasy team after Jamaal Charles tore his knee open.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) and not a ton of mileage for a guy who has been in the league 4 years - good goal line back....pretty solid deal all around. I have to think this means bad things for forte -franchise forte this year, maybe again next year, draft the next long term RB in the next 2 drafts, and have bush around to back up Forte for now, and maybe start if need be for a year after Matt is gone I think the Bears made the right business decision in not giving Forte a deal last year. Running backs don't last forever and a long-time (not to mention pricey) investment in any RB is a risk. It certainly sucked that Forte hasn't gotten his big payday yet, but he's making, what, $6-7 million this upcoming year?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) Kind of a blah move to me. I wouldn't trust Khalil Bell and Marion Barber again. Bell's alright, but it looks like he coughs the ball up way too much.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) Brad Biggs @BradBiggs #Bears have agreed to terms with RB Michael Bush on a 4-year contract. Total value $14 million. Deal includes $7 million guaranteed. Nice bruiser to go along with Forte. Not too expensive either, I like it.

2012 AL Central Catch-All thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Quit yelling at me and talking down to me. Two weeks ago nobody was saying s*** about how the Royals had to deal Soria. He was to be the dominant closer on a team expected to be good What is so hard to understand about keeping an all-star closer? You don't always have to trade guys just because he's a closer and expected to get hurt at some point. KC on paper has a way better team than our beloved Sox and he was to be the automatic save man. Brandon League was an all-star closer last year...just so you know. All-star closers pop up out of nowhere all the time.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel Tebow-Sanchez would get along fine, both have documented interest in working with high school kids So does Brett Favre. o.O Those two shouldn't go near high school kids, especially not Tebow. He'll mess up their throwing mechanics.

2012 AL Central Catch-All thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 06:37 AM) Man, even when we explain it to you, you dont get it. The Royals could have had a really nice haul for Soria, and could have players in his place that could move them forward towards competing in the AL Central. Instead, they held on to him and now they have nothing to show for it but an expensive guy on the DL getting tommy john surgery. Why is this hard to understand? It has nothing to do with Murphys Law, it has to do with being smart with your assets. I've always said that Dayton Moore doesn't know how to run a Major League operation. He sure as hell can run a minor league one, but he doesn't know what the hell he's doing 90% of the time when it comes to ML ball players.

When they try to get me involved I tell them that to give them a chance I'll take Scottie Pippen against James or Kobe. What's fun is at some point I can toss out 6 rings baby I imagine it goes something like this... "Call me when LeBron has six championships." - Tex "That's your only argument?" - Student hypothetically named Shawn "It's the only argument I need Shawn!" - Tex

Miguel Cabrera takes grounder in eye
QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) Dammit this might mean rethinking Cabrera at third. I wanted to see that disaster this season The Tigers were stupid to even think about it. Inge should be playing 3B with either Fielder or Cabrera DHing. Their DH is Andy Dirks anyways, so it's not like they're missing out on anything. If they got anything out of it, it's that Cabrera finally lost some weight...

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 04:51 AM) If you put Ryan Anderson next to David Lee, that would be the worst interior defensive combo in the NBA today. So I can see why the Warriors did what they did, they could have gotten more talent for Ellis but Bogut is pretty much a perfect fit for their slow-ball system IF he can stay healthy. I think Anderson will get 10M from the Nets in the off-season and the Magic will try to sign someone like KG (IIRC he's a FA after this season) for a 1 year MLE deal to replace him. Yeah, I also thought about that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) I am currently in the process of downloading comics 1-88. I'm too hooked on you folks knowing everything and I can never avoid stuff in spoiler tags, so I might as well enjoy them! If you want to know what's going on without wasting your time, there's a Walking Dead wikia page with a nice synopsis of the comic books. Beware, it has some typos near the end of it...
