  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) .815ish OPS, not that fantastic. I just never thought he had the talent. Raburn's a historically slow starter. Then he turns it on late in the year and rakes for a month or two.
  2. I'd like to see Hawk be a part of a franchise-player draft.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) Ahh yes, "The Process." I always seem to get that mixed-up. Regardless, The Process does seem to finally seem to be working, but I doubt it's through any help of Dayton Moore's. I could be drafting these kids from where their draft position has been. I'm not really sure there are a whole lot of moves at the MLB level that Moore has made that really impress me. Even the Greinke trade...I think Escobar is going to be a bust, and I have argued this before, I don't think he is anywhere close to where Elvis Andrus is (whom people seem to enjoy comparing him to). Maybe being bad to get those picks is part of Moore's plan.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Man, are the Sox going to get rained out AGAIN?! Ugh, I actually miss the Metrodome. Scattered T-storms. Hey, if we can not play the Twins right now, by all means, let it happen.
  5. Any Carlos Gomez-like player.
  6. Hell, I'll trade Ozzie for Emilio Bonifacio.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) That's actually a lot more powerful than expected (although you can really tell nothing from that article). You guys are kidding yourselves if you honestly believe anyone anymore would be including top of line tech to be a selling point anymore. In fact, it never really was. PS360 are the exception. Every console before them used years old tech and I'd expect we start seeing the same again. The potential tech in these consoles evolve at too fast a rate to keep up, and even developers cannot make games that fully utilize them. Not to mention graphics haven't been the major selling point of the last two gens, so there is no point include top of the line stuff from a business standpoint. That's all not even bringing up that consoles are powerful enough that they are potentially going to start seeing diminishing returns in terms of graphics. The Wii U looks about at least 2x faster than the 360 ( I don't really know how to compare it to the PS3). That's a ton of power, and more than enough to run the two top engines out there now. That's the biggest thing. Essentially, look at it as a PS2. If will likely drag behind the competition due to being released first, but games can still scaled down for it. That was not possible for the Wii. It all depends on what the next Playstation or Xbox will feature. The new Battlefield game will be one of the first games to really push the newer generation video cards on PC. It is not economical for the Wii U to feature a new gen. card given its expensive controller, but I feel like Microsoft and Sony will definitely put something a lot more powerful in their next gen. machines.
  8. http://deadspin.com/5811983/german-newspap...etto-basketball Some German columnist writes how Dirk defeated ghetto basketball in the NBA. The translations are funny as hell.
  9. They have a long way to go for .500 still. Slow down.
  10. Oh you meant a .784 OPS. He has a .333 SLG against them...that's so sad.
  11. Pierre has a .784 slugging against lefties? lmao what?
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) When was the last time you had a good feeling going into a series in minny? I can't remember. 2005?
  13. I have a bad feeling about this series.
  14. The new Wii U will feature a custom ATI chip that will be similar to those on a Radeon HD 4870. That's 2-3 years behind, basically. There's already a 6800 series. It's a hell of a lot better than what's in the PS3 and 360 right now, but for a system that will come out in a year, that's bad. Once again, Nintendo chooses to not go state of the art. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/wii-u-gr...h-is-still-pre/
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) And to continue yesterday's discussion, that means the Heat would potentially have the best 3 active Canadian centers in the NBA to go along with Magloire and Anthony. That is quite the feat. Bill Wennington just jizzed.
  16. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Rios as leadoff is a bad idea. You need someone who can actually get on base. For some reason, i see Alexei as the best option. That's the other thing. I don't care how you get on base, just do it. At this point, you're looking at a .350 OBP from Alexei and a .260 from Rios. Even if Rios started to hit well, his OBP wouldn't be any higher than .340 - .350. That's just the kind of hitter he is.
  17. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) BB per plate appearance should have more significance in this case when we are viewing the 2 players. As the ability of drawing a walk between both players are pretty similar. A 2% difference in walk rate in 600 PAs is 12 walks. That'll change your OBP quite a bit. Alexei's average at it right now, Rios is below average. So the difference is note-worthy.
  18. Just let Alexei leadoff.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcJN9LzRT68...embedded#at=180 rofl parody of Dan LeBatard's speech after the Heat got the Big 3.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) The ad about Miami winning makes me think that in some 3rd world country Lebron has been Champion twice now, and MJ never won one.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Dwight is no Shaq, but hed still be a significant upgrade over Noah and Ive never liked Boozer so Id do anything to get rid of him. The only way the Bulls can make it happen would be to trade Boozer for hopefully something Orlando wants, and then put Noah + picks and whatever it takes. Barring that, I think the Bulls should try and move Boozer for a solid sg, and then use whatever picks they have left to take some shots on guards or forwards. Ideally, if you deal for Dwight you want to keep Boozer. Dwight can probably make up for a lot of what Boozer fails to do on defense and Boozer's a better offensive player than Joakim.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Other than Heads and Joecool, nobody on this site thought Humber would be worth s***. And NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY!, thought Lillibridge would morph into a 2009 Ben Zobrist clone. So the haha I told you so bit doesn't fly. That said, the White Sox are in third place. They're still below .500. And they still have a lot of question marks. Let's wait until they're in first place by a few games before all the I told you so's start rolling in. Go look in the Catch-All thread, I had some slight optimism towards Humber, which you immediately tried to shoot down. I did say Lillibridge sucked when he got called up though.
  23. Nice article by Woj: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ap_O...a_finals_061311 Nice burn at the end.
  24. Padres just DFA'd Aaron Poreda. Good thing we didn't hold onto him.
  25. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Ide be interested to see these comments I made as I don't remember being a dickhole in any of them.. the only thing I did was say that I liked the Heat and would be following them as my team now.. I wasn't talking s*** to anyone.. and me saying "well that sucked" isn't a "hater" statement.. believe it or not, not everyone hates the Heat.. why don't you get off the sour grapes of the Heat wiping their ass with the Bulls and relax So you bandwagoned when the Heat got Bosh and LeBron?
