  1. I beat the Packers 56-20 in Madden if it means anything. Rodgers got picked twice for pick-sixes by Zach Bowman...I know.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Looks like the Vlad and the O's are close to a deal. http://twitter.com/JimBowdenXMFOX/status/28670852690092033 They've also had a pretty underrated off-season. Ultimately, their success will depend on many of their young guys. But they've supplemented that youth with quality veterans nicely. Looks like Luke Scott will be playing LF. That lineup is gonna be pretty damn good. 1. Roberts 2B 2. Markakis RF 3. Lee 1B 4. Guerrero DH 5. Scott LF 6. Reynolds 3B 7. Jones CF 8. Wieters C 9. Hardy SS There's not a bad hitter in that lineup.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) Danks looks like he got some new teeth this offseason. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...73.photogallery It appears Adam Dunn grew out his beard...
  4. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and John Salmons were still on that team too, way better supporting guards than they have now. In other words, it's a completely different series. That group also had a horrible time trying to defend Ray Allen. Hinrich's a good defender, but the other two, especially Gordon, weren't exactly stellar. I think it's clear that this Bulls team is much better than that one. The Bulls most likely won't play Boston until the second round anyways. I just hope we don't end up playing NY. I'd much rather play the Hawks or whoever ends up being the 7th seed.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Tyrus was hitting jumpers all over that series, wasn't he? He hit one pretty big one and had one or two good games. Otherwise, eh, not really. That big jumper he hit was almost a 3. When he shot it, I was literally yelling "WTF?" Good thing it went in. Boozer's been good in the playoffs in his career, so having him there will make a very big difference.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Yes it is, but Abreu will be DHing. They are going with Wells-Bourjos-Hunter from left to right. That is significantly better. That can actually be a very solid OF. Bourjos is insane. Hunter doesn't have CF range anymore, but I think he can be at least an average RF. Same with Wells in LF.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) wasn't garnett out that year? He was, but the Bulls also had Tyrus Thomas that year and no Luol Deng.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Trading Drabek to shed Wells' salary is a fireable offense. You don't trade the best pitcher in the game in Halladay and get back a prized SP prospect to send him off a year later just to shed salary. Just when AA was doing well, he makes a really weird and fire-able move.
  9. Oh wow. Angels got desperate I guess.
  10. Meh. If we're gonna worry about Ozzie getting questions from the media about his contract situation, then we might as well sign him forever or something. Seems kind of pointless. I'd much rather do it in-season.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) Good LORD. MLB's top 10 right now - Centerfielders...No Rios. Both Ellsbury and Seizmore made the list over him. Curtis Granderson was #3! Matt Kemp #2... Jeez, MLB Nework doesn't hate the White Sox like ESPN, but that was ridiculous... After the year Kemp just had, I don't know how you can place him in the top 10.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! Actually, that sounds pretty badass. All day, every day. For two weeks. I would love that.
  13. Wait a minute... Betalgeuse is 640 light years away. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean that the light we observe from the star is light from 640ish years ago? Because I have a hard time believing that light from a super nova can eclipse the speed of...well...light.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) The Bulls are the ultimate "play to your opponents level" team. It seems like this happens to all Chicago teams.
  15. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) And Teahen starting would be a slap in the face to all us fans... I don't think Ozzie cares.
  16. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) 2 mil + incentives? That's it? I wish the Sox could have come up with that to keep him around. It's Kenny's fault for giving Teahen that stupid contract extension.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Does anybody know how Brent pronounces his last name? At first it was MORel, like morl, but then Hawk changed it to moREL, emphasis on the last syllable. I thought it was the first way forever. I think it's MoREL. Although I like morl.
  18. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) As far as I know, the Joe Randa comps (at least over the internet) started right here at SoxTalk in the FutureSox section, and I made them too. Just seemed to fit so well. But after seeing him I think the Randa comps are selling his pop short. Randa looks like he averaged 10-13 HR or so per season, with his high being 17 and his low being 7 during a full season of ABs. And he just doesn't look like a high average hitter to me at all. Someone on here threw out a Crede comp right after seeing him and I agree with that a lot, except obviously Morel will be more effective on the basepaths. Edit: Randa over his career averaged .284/.339/.426/.765 while Crede averaged 254/.304/.444/.748. I think Morel would be closer to Crede's numbers, only I'd adjust them higher simply because presumably Morel won't have to deal with the back issues that has cut Crede's numbers down. Maybe Morel is Corey Koskie (.275/.367/.458) minus 30 points or so in OBP. I think Morel's contact ability is better than Crede's. I think a compromise in between would be nice.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) I agree with all this, except I see Morel with a lower BA and more power. But he's the kind of player (like Crede) that could really help a team greatly. Because he probably will never be a star, but may very well become a solid regular, he's the kind of guy we could have cheaply for 6 years and then actually extend without breaking the bank. He could end up a nice complimentary piece good enough to keep us from looking for an upgrade while at the same time saving us lots of money. I admit I hated the Brent Morel pick when the Sox made it but each year that goes by he looks better and better, and last season he really impressed me. He's really looking like a great value pick. Kinda like Joe Randa. If everything pans out, that's probably what he's gonna be.
  20. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) Before we get too optimistic, remember that our manager is Ozzie Guillien. Ozzie on whether Morel is his starter at 3B: "That would be a slap in the face of Teahen." - Doug Padilla I think Ozzie really meant Vizquel.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) I think the Royals may have their worst team ever this season and for them, that's saying a lot. Trust the process, says Dayton Moore.
  22. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) Which last year would've been the 10th best wOBA for 3B in all of baseball. This projection is nutty. I definitely agree. I think he should be good for something around .315-.320. And that's pretty optimistic IMO.
  23. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 02:01 AM) From Fangraphs Games/PA/H/HR/R/RBI/SB 141/544/150/13/62/60/10 AVG/OBP/SLG/wOBA .291/.327/.448/.305 I think you meant .339 for the wOBA.
  24. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) New Brett Favre commercial I am not a role model. I'm a jeans model.
