  1. Charlie Morton went from 9 ERA crap pitcher to borderline all-star. How? Because he decided to pitch like Roy Halladay (literally). http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writ...morton.pirates/ I saw him pitch earlier this year and thought, "hey, this guy pitches a lot like Roy Halladay". I joked about it with a couple of my friends and said that he probably just decided to copy a better pitcher since he sucked so much. Turns out I was right. It sure is rare to see ML players imitating another pitcher's mechanics.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Cito would replace Ozzie No way in hell should that ever happen. I'd rather have Ozzie here instead of Cito sleeping during the damn game.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) We're not going to get anything for Ozzie. He'll go there on his own with the blessing of management. He may even get fired this year as a favor to Ozzie to get started with his new team. And he'll do great there. You all (not all, but most) will b**** about the next manager because that's what fans do, b**** about the manager/coach. Sox need to start thinking who will be the right fit. I'd say we will be in rebuilding mode, so it will be a guy like Quade who will have to take it on the chin for a while and be the scapegoat. So who will be the next manager? It'd be easy to just name Bell or Cora. The future looks s***ty for the White Sox so you all will have a lot to b**** about Ozzie's replacement. Greg Gilbert has spoken again.
  4. Logan.Morrison. I can dream right?
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Edwin Rodriguez done as a Marlins manager. Writers are reporting Marlins want Ozzie long term, but will hire interim and go after him in the offseason. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YESSSSSS YESSSSS. MERCY!
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) Considering he had an .840 OPS last year and has improved tremendously this year, I think those MLE numbers are a little too conservative. Where you find those btw? There's a calculator. http://www.minorleaguesplits.com/mlecalc.html And I agree, it is very conservative. Viciedo should be able to put up a .850 OPS without too much trouble.
  7. Viciedo's MLE numbers update: .285/.324/.458. CALL HIM UP.
  8. Some writer texted Kenny during the game last night and asked about Viciedo. Kenny responded by saying he's going to give what Ozzie needs. Either Ozzie has more power than Kenny or Kenny needs to stop playing games. Seriously, if the Sox don't make the playoffs this year, both should be fired for playing this stupid ass ego game.
  9. There really is no excuse for Pierre to play instead of Quentin. Dunn in RF might end up being a disaster. Humber doesn't exactly miss a lot of bats. BTW, Collmenter sounds like bad news. He's a guy who throws 87 and uses his change 25% of the time. Hopefully, our advanced scouting told our hitters.
  10. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) ok 5-4 COL with one out remaining but Miggy up at bat Street got Cabrera. 4.5 back of Detroit.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Better name on the Tigers...Charlie Furbush or Al Alburquerque? Furbush, by far.
  12. Anybody notice a change in Thornton's mechanics? It's hard to explain, but when he was struggling with location, he lifted his throwing arm a little bit higher when he is performing his leg kick. Now it's more stationary and he seems to be throwing more strikes. Could just be my imagination though.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Quinarvy and chw will be happy to know that none of the Wii U dev kits are final versions and to expect the system to get "beefier". That's good. I have nothing personal against Nintendo. If they make a better machine, then good for them.
  14. I just saw the replay of Drew's double. Holy s***, Danks is one tough motherf***er. You'd think he would have gotten a concussion from that.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Do the Bulls have an offer that can top that without including Rose? Deng, Noah, + somebody else? IMO, that's WAY better than the GS offer.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) Forget Jackson/Hudson, time to win some ballgames. Duke has a 5.61 career ERA vs. the Sox. Saturday's lineup from tonight's Twitter updates Lilli - LF Morel - 3B CQ - RF PK - 1B Alexei - SS Rios - CF Castro - C Beckham - 2B Danks - LHP Well...this lineup is...different. No Pierre = good though.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) The White Sox have had the fortune of playing KC, Cleveland, and for the most part Detroit 18 times a year the past 10 seasons or so. 84 wins should not be acceptable. Except for 2005 and a couple of other years, the pattern seems to hold true. You think they have a good team. They fall flat on their face, play crappy ball for 3 or 4 months, rally to get back in it and fall apart at the end. They win 83 or 84 games and 5 years later the year is called a success because in the 70s the Sox really sucked. I call BS. Win the division. Make the playoffs. You have had a big advantage over your division foes for years and have squandered it far too often. 2005 is something they will always be able to hang their hat on and rightfully so, but if a couple of crazy things didn't happen against Boston, like a ball going through Graffinino's legs and El Duque, a guy KW didn't even want on the postseason roster not pitching out of a jam, they might still be looking for their first postseason series win in 94 years, and I'm sure Ozzie and KW would have very little support from anyone on this website.
  18. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Im surprised no one has mentioned this years NCAA and how awesome the new coaching carousel looks.. I love the new HDR lighting scheme. Too bad it won't be in Madden.
  19. I really don't have anything against Jackson, but the question of last year's trade was basically...why the hell did you have to give up Daniel Hudson AND David Holmberg for Edwin Jackson and his 5.5 ERA at the time?
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) One of the first of many offers I'm sure; That offer is a joke.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) So, if this ever happens again, do we say that the pitcher is having "Jake Peavy" surgery? He'll have his name in the history books for something other than the 07 Cy Young then.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Pierre -- LF Ramirez -- SS Quentin -- RF Konerko -- 1B Pierzynski -- C Rios -- CF Beckham -- 2B Morel -- 3B Jackson – RHP Everybody other than Ramirez, Quentin, Konerko = black hole.
  23. I was faced with the decision of buying either Dead Space 2 or Bulletstorm today. Both of which I already have on my PC (but that's not available to me at the moment). I finally gave in and decided on Dead Space 2. BTW, EA Store has both for $24 bucks today tax and shipping included. Not a bad deal. I'll end up beating it and trading it in for 18 bucks at Gamestop next month.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) Didn't people say the exact same thing about him last season? He didn't have a 70:9 K/BB ratio last year.
