  1. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) You mean like 06 when the White Sox offense was raping 'erbody out there? Yea, that sucked. Don't ever look at things at a whole man. Just remember the really rare bad times and over exaggerate.
  2. Please let the Seahawks win so we get to play them. Please.
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Do you envision a return to the corpseball days of Thome, Konerko, Dye? Those were the worst, and people used to think that was a good offense. I'm with ya man, I hope this doesn't become Corpse: The Return. I guess we have better players all around so I don't see it being that bad with Dunn. Those three were a vital part of one of the best offensive teams in White Sox history in 06. Corpseball...lol.
  4. Seattle's doing pretty well right now. But I doubt they'll be able to keep this up the whole game.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) It seems like the Sox may try to add Tim Byrdak on a minor league deal/invite to ST. LOOGY's galore! Byrdak's only gonna get a minor league deal?
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Sounds obvious. But it seems like many around here think this team is 10 wins better or something. They're still a lot of question marks. FWIW, I combined the projections out there right now and they have the Sox at 93 wins. That's with pretty moderate projections on Beckham and Quentin and Peavy making 23 starts.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) I won't go nuts over two years and 4 million. But my stance on relievers remains the same. And I'm one that doesn't believe this team is any better outside the massive upgrade in Dunn. If Beckham and CQ don't bounce back and PK regresses along with not having Peavy for possibly half the season we could once again fall short to the Twins or even the Tigers. Well yeah...Not having arguably your most talented pitcher and having two of your better offensive players totally flunk will definitely put us in a bad position.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) What does the bullpen look like with healthy Peavy? Like one the of the deepest, most orgasmic, ones ever.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) I can't imagine the Phillies adding anymore to their payroll. He would make that Philly team unstoppable. Their bullpen's mediocre right now. But if you add Soriano and put Lidge and Madson in setup roles, it would make that bullpen one of the better ones in the NL. But yeah, they don't have the money. Perhaps if they trade Joe Blanton, they can offer him a deal.
  10. BTW, I think the thread title says "sigh" instead of "sign" right now.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Who else were we going to sign for that money that was better? I would love Andruw Jones back on this team.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) That's not so bad. It's the last of the team's free agency money though, I'm willing to bet. Oh well, at least they spent it wisely on a part of the team that needed improvement. Ohman was easily the best left handed specialist remaining on the market.
  13. Projected Bullpen w/o Sale LR Harrell/Pena/Carter MR Infante/Bruney/Gray MR Pena MR Ohman MR Santos SU Crain CL Thonrton Let's hope Sergio gets better next year. His peripherals last year said he got pretty lucky, but we shall see.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) Well, if Thornton departs after 2011, there's still need for LH pitching in the pen for 2012. The Sox should have sured up Matt long ago. Although he's getting up there in age, so IDK. He's a tough situation next year.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) 2 years? Ruh oh. Get ready for J4L rant. It better be really cheap or something.
  16. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) per Rotoworld: The Nets, Nuggets and Pistons are reportedly discussing a deal that would send Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton and Carmelo Anthony to the Nets. What the hell? Just who are the Nets going to give up then? Half their roster?
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) $50 addicting??? $30 on Amazon right now.
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) MLBN during the Hot Stove show basically said it like this. It is a good move for the cubs next year to keep the fans interested but then what? In the long run Garza will not produce enough to make up for the lose of the prospects. They think Fuld makes Upton more expendable. Bowa thinks the cub will try and move 'Z' to the Yanks. Personally I think they have a better shot of moving Garza to the Yanks. I really wonder why the Rangers did not get in on this? Sam Fuld is bad. If anything, the fact that the Rays have guys like Jennings, Zobrist, and Joyce make Upton expendable.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) The guy knows what leadership is on winning teams. They brought him in to lead the young players. I know you disagree but there is something to be said about veteran leadership with a young team. Like OC did for them last year...? They overpaid for leadership if you ask me. The Giants only offered Renteria $1 million.
  20. Gentlemen...I give you this: Moar: http://bosoxgifs.imgur.com/beltre_head_rubs/
  21. They should have a Kids version and an Adult version. Get rid of the slurs in the kids ones. That way, you can have the book in schools without people complaining and still have the original version accessible to those who are mature enough to handle the content.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) Josh Kinney has also been rumored to be one of the NRIs. He had a decent year at AAA Memphis in 2010. 1.80 ERA in 60 innings. 51 K's and WHIP under 1. Remembered he was once a decent reliever with the Cardinals.
  23. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) I wonder what realistic chance either of Brian Bruney or Jeff Gray have at the 7th spot along with Carter, Infante and Nunez?? Bruney might get a shot. I totally forgot those two were even on the team.
  24. Byrdak walks way too many guys and doesn't strike out as many as Ohman. If you thought Ohman walked a good amount, just know that Byrdak's career BB/9 is nearly a half a walk higher than Ohman's. Byrdak's also had years where he went really home run happy.
  25. I can definitely stomach $1.5 million. You have to give Ozzie a LOOGY or else he'll try to use Randy Williams again or something.
