White Sox vs. Orioles, 7:10pm, CSN
He shouldn't have hit Jones. Gavin is having trouble putting hitters away.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) I'd give up Soxtalk for Matt Wieters. That dude is going to be special. I think a lot of teams would like to have Roberts, Markakis, Wieters, Jones, and Scott. Unfortunately, there's not one pitcher I'd really want from that team.

I've noticed that Carlos has changed his stance around. He's open now and he's a lot lower to the ground. It has resulted in some hits for him.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Why do the O's f***ing suck? I'd donate a testicle for about 40% of their roster. Because the other 60% suck. lol

Nice job there by Paulie. Horrible base running by Jones.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
Manny would definitely put butts in the seats. The revenue from the tickets in the last month can pay the rest of his salary and then some.

Why Do the Sox Suck Vs. Central Division Teams?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I give up. For a mod to post what he did, to discourage discussion is beyond me. Thanx for your post, chw. I read your take. He's not saying you shouldn't post, he's saying you should put more time into your part of the post instead of just asking questions. And that's a completely valid request.

Why Do the Sox Suck Vs. Central Division Teams?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Why would you waste your time with a post like this? Did my post offend you? You start a post to get some discussion going on here and a mod tells me that? Grow up, please. Is trying to be educated against your beloved rules? He's saying you should do more research on your own instead of asking everybody.

Why Do the Sox Suck Vs. Central Division Teams?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) Barring a miracle, the White Sox will not win the Central again this season, primarily because of the team's play against Minnesota, Cleveland, KC and Detroit. The team also sucked against Central teams last year. The question is why? Are there any statistical reasons the White Sox reek against their Central rivals? Do the opposing hitters in the division stack up well against our type of pitchers? Do they have us scouted well? Do their pitchers understand what it takes to get the Sox out? Or is it simply the fact the White Sox are the only team in the division to win a World Series in a while and opponents simply want it more than the Sox do every single night when the teans play? Is it Ozzie getting outcoached by the other skippers? What is the reason for the White Sox ineptitude vs. the Central? I think the better question is why do the Sox suck against AL teams? Oh yeah, we don't have a real DH while they do.

Brad Hawpe put on waivers...
Hawpe would be a good pick up for us for the minimum. He can't field at all (Adam Dunn kind of bad), but he should be able to hit a lot better than Mark Kotsay.

8/22 Danks vs. Frustrated Royal
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) Sorry for the three threads in a row but I was just reading the game thread. All this criticism of Ozzie for stuff like this is insane IMO. If he didn't argue or rip umpires then people would say he doesn't stand up for his players. You know why we lost today? We couldn't get a clutch hit late when we got the guy to second base. f***ing Linebrink walked the guy. How many times have walks come around to KILL US? He walks the fastest guy on the Royals who gets to third base in a hurry and scores on the bloop. Linebrink may be the most overpaid employee in the history of employees. But as far as you ripping Ozzie for ripping on umpires???? All good managers speak up EVERY TIME they think their players are wronged. It's fine that they speak up, but you don't have to go overboard with it like he has. He's gone really far with his comments about certain umpires.

Can anyone recall a more gut-wrenching few weeks?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) 2006 and 2008 had some serious gut wrenching, it's over weeks. 08 was the worst. That final week sucked so f***ing much.

8/22 Danks vs. Frustrated Royal
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) I believe that QuesTec judges balls and strikes. The ESPN study I am referring to did everything BUT balls and strikes. And of those plays, only 66% of the time did the umpires make the obvious right call. Oh, then it's completely different. For close plays other than balls and strikes, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they were only right 66% of the time.

8/22 Danks vs. Frustrated Royal
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Actually, ESPN did a study during a 2 week period, and then discovered that umpires made the right call only 66% of the time. They reviewed every close call of all the games over that 2 weeks. It was like 184 games or something. I thought Questech or whatever says the average umpire is right on calls 95% of the time?

8/22 Danks vs. Frustrated Royal
QUOTE (Real @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) Ozzballs prior profanity-laden tirades against guys like wendelstadt, cuzzi, and west. Go for it guys, keep wondering why pitch f/x never goes our way. You should never make enemies with the people who can decide your fate. Unfortunately, Ozzie's not that smart when it comes to that stuff.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) seems like a lot, what is the typical number in a game The average umpire has a 5% error. West was at 8.7% today and that's kind of a guesstimate.
