  1. The Padres are a lot like the 05 White Sox. But as somebody else said, they're a lot younger. I don't think they have a shot at a WS, but I can see them competing in the NL portion of the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) Predictions of post season awards? I'm going with: AL Manager Ron Washington AL Rookie Wade Davis (if eligible) AL CY David Price AL MVP Josh Hamilton NL Manager Bud Black NL Rookie Jason Heyward NL CY Adam Wainright NL MVP Albert Pujols Wade Davis has a 4.41 ERA this year. I'd rather give the award to Austin Jackson.
  3. Alexei got screwed there. Strike 1 was a ball.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Cowley: Vizquel left the game with an upset stomach. Day to day. He should do what Chan Ho Park did earlier in the year.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) I wish Freddy would teach Edwin the splitter. I think that would be a ridiculous wipeout pitch if he added it. His slider acts a lot like a splitter.
  6. Too bad the Twins destroyed Cliff Lee today.
  7. I'm glad this didn't happen. Hoffman's been really bad this year.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) I was just thinking about that this morning. Being so pumped up for Frank Thomas Day, then Manny debuting in the 3-hole for the Sox, awesomeness. What would make it even better is if we were on a 3 game winning streak going into that game looking for a sweep of the Yankees.
  9. This is pretty much a must-win. If you lose 5 of 7 to the Orioles, then well...
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:03 AM) http://www.baseballmusings.com/cgi-bin/Lin...440&Model=0 A lineup of: Pierre - Gordon - Manny - Paulie - Rios - Quentin - Omar - AJ - Alexei is 5.133 runs per game. Our current Runs Per Game is 4.504 wOBA doesn't equal to OBP though...
  11. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) I thought everybody rejects the White Sox... Manny is different.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Well, the Rangers simply have to beat the Twins now...because it doesn't seem like we want to beat the Orioles. The only chance is if we can face Simon again, but I don't think Showalter will allow that to happen again. Uehara will end up shutting us down.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) He got a good one to hit last night. Bam. He put a good swing on a mediocre pitch. That ball was chest high.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Cause they won't let me be me without a reprimand, so when I get insulted, I will mention it back as well. Guess who didn't even chime in on Bobby's performance last night? I see you're quite paranoid. And do we have to bring back the Bobby Jenks stuff AGAIN?
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) You know you are the exact opposite of that right? Except BigSqwert actually uses some sort of numbers to back up whatever he posts.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) How do you know he's not doing well because of the way the manager has used him? The manager has had faith in him all season when just about everybody on here wanted him sent down to the minors. Read the old threads. Putting him in the 9th spot, even when he has been hitting better, can't be too good on his confidence. Thing is, you and I don't know if Ozzie hitting him 9th is good or bad for him. Hell, nobody truly knows. But from the looks of his numbers since the ASB, moving him up would be a good idea. He can't be getting any good pitches to hit with Juan Pierre behind him.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Why would that be? Also whats the guarantee that Manny is going to be very effective in September? He's 0-7 with 3 ks since coming back. Last Sept. he hit .218 and I would imagine since his right leg has landed him on the DL 3 times this season, there's probably a good chance he's going to be missing some games when he gets here. That's $4 million that could've and should've been spent last offseason. Also there was a rumor going around the Sox claimed Trevor Hoffman on waivers. I don't know if its true, in fact, its probably not, but if true, they would pay Hoffman more for 1 month than DJ Carrasco would have cost for the entire season. Ewww Trevor Hoffman. No way would I want his 5.5 FIP in this bullpen.
  18. Please be true, please be true, please be true.
  19. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) The Score thing about the cardinals sounded like more overheard speculation than a rumor Where would he play in their OF? He'd play right field. Yikes...
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) I actually have given my take on this but thought it would be a good thread. Obviously a good thread is no thread this season on here, except in the non baseball areas where the discussion is civll and actually pretty awesome like on the Blago thread. My take was that as the biggest and best city in the division and the team to have the most recent WS title, teams get up to play us and we pretty much sleepwalk vs. the teams in the Central. I'm not always big on the mental aspect of baseball, but arguably teams really get up for Chicago, evidenced by how many teams in the division throw at our hitters. So many people are commenting on what I do and don't do I'd think they'd remember my position on this matter since they seem to know so much about my posts. I don't think that has much, if anything, to do with it. Because our combined win% against the Central since 2005 is .523. Although we should probably be better, that's not a horrible mark. BTW, the team was above .500 against the division in 06, 07, and 08. They had a win% of .557 vs the Central in those years. It's only been the last two years that they have struggled. If you take a look at it your way, you'd think that the White Sox would be worse against the Central in 06, 07, and 08 since those were the three years after they won the World Series. That's not even close to the case.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Most of our fans realize it's just Ozzie being Ozzie. Sox fans that watched him as a player and a manager know he says a lot of things. One of the great things about him is how worked up he gets. On here? I don't need some guy who thinks he's all hot s*** telling me off by telling me to take my ball and go home if I don't like his insults. I recognize it as kyyle being kyyle. So what's the difference?
  22. The only power hitter who is hitting is Konerko. Let's hope we solve everybody on this Orioles staff the second time around. We did yesterday.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) But he has a well documented history of never doing the research on his own. This. It's fine to ask questions, but you also have to bring some of your own research to the table once in a while.
