GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) Nice to see the clutch hit. Now the pen needs to do their job..... Not a fan of Beckham giving up ab's There's a 5% chance Beckham hits into a DP. There's a 35% chance Gordon gets on base. There's a 28% chance Gordon gets a hit. There's 65% chance he gets out. It didn't make much of a difference anyhow, but yeah, you get the point. Bunting was stupid.

Smith sure pitched well after that home run.

That slider Smith just threw to Konerko had some mad late movement.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) You have to be f***ing kidding me. I HATE YOU OZZIE GUILLEN! I don't know what it is, but I have never hated Ozzie this much before. It must be the sabermetrics.

I'd much rather have Pierre try to steal. We gave up one of our best hitters.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Yes, he does. Anyone ever read or hear an interview? I've not. There was one on MLB.com. Oh yeah for those wondering, the game is now on CSN. Cubs game is over.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) I don't care if Pierre gets gunned down. He should be running. I sort of agree. Smith doesn't have a very slow delivery though. Pick your spots, I guess.

Cubs fandom intelligence fail... 35% in a CSN poll think Marlon Byrd will hit the most homers for this team. Unless Lee and Ramirez both get hurt, I really doubt that.

Alexei had two cookies and missed them both. Oh weather, why must you suck so much?

Holy crap these umpires are bad. What's funnier is that we're still not winning.

This team still sucks at situational hitting. Surprise, surprise.

Masterson was pretty good tonight.

Michael Brantley is starting to annoy me. He's like a left handed Carlos Gomez. And Andruw made a pretty bad throw. I'm pretty sure Rios makes a better throw there.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) I stand corrected. Do you guys think he can stick with the big guys coming straight from AA ? No. He has bad plate discipline.

Who will be the last Sox starter to get a hit?
Either Kotsay or Teahen.

You can definitely argue that.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Ozzie said that he asked the players and they consensus was that is was Jones. Maybe 5 years ago. Jones is one of the best CFers in this past decade.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Our best defensive alignment is pierre, rios, and jones from left to right, i have little doubt. I'm rather high on jones defensively and think he will be more than fine (plus defender) in center when out there. Now do i think rios should be in left in favor of jones? Not so much, it's borderline asinine. Hopefully though jones pulls back two at the fence today and makes ozzie look like a genius, it wouldn't hurt my feelings any. In regards to dhing pierre. I would really have no problem with it if pierre was batting ninth rather than first. But it is what it is. Our problem is this now guarantees our worst hitter in the first place the most plate appearances, and now he has a pretty mean handicap against himself. The problem is dhing is incredibly hard and makes even the best of hitters (vast majority of the time) worse... considerably. I see it like this, carlos quentin dhing would hurt us more offensively than pierre dhing ever could. But then again you have to consider the defensive differential between the two, which does come into play. Positional adjustment in runs per 600 PA. This too. This is why you don't put some bad hitter at DH and just say whatever. It's because the average DH is much better and your team is losing out on production if you put a crappy hitter there. More so than putting a crappy hitter anywhere else. That plus the fact that Pierre is a better defensive outfielder than Quentin makes this a really bad move.

Why Kotsay shouldn't Bat 5th
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) no reason to boo the guy. he was here for a few seasons, had some nice moments. but it was all at the end of his career. he wont go down as a sox legend. i consider him more of an afterthought as a sox player, sorta like a zisk or gamble. I was being sarcastic, lol. I wouldn't boo him. If you want to blame anyone for him being on the Twins, blame Ozzie for being ignorant and Williams for lacking balls to override Ozzie's ignorance.
