  1. He seems really really nervous.
  2. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) I was going to get MLB 2K10 because it has all three levels of the minors, but read that there are roster edit limits. Basically, you can only edit so many players before it cuts you off. That's a deal breaker for me. I'll stick with MLB 2K8 and the two years I've put into a White Sox franchise. The only drawback to that is that Winston-Salem is still the Warthogs instead of the Dash. I don't like eit limits because I like to have accurate player likenesses and names for the minors. 2K8 just suits me best. Although I have a $50 gift card for Best Buy and don't know what to spend it on. It only pertains to names. You can edit everything else but names is what it restricts. There's a guy over on MVPMods who is going to make a roster editor for the PC. Don't know how he will transfer it to the 360 though.
  3. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) Agreed, but to say he's more critical to their success than Joe freaking Mauer is just wrong. I think that's quite obvious. But he may be more valuable than somebody like Scott Baker.
  4. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Yeah, I am also really enjoying MLB 2K10.. the My Player thing is awesome, I havent even touched franchise mode yet and that is usually the first thing I do.. I have two players right now, one a SP and one a C and both are a blast.. My only complaint with it though is that they leave you in to pitch a CG almost EVERY time you play.. Im still pitching in the 8th inning and struggling quite a bit yet they just leave me out there.. I have only been pulled once, and it was when the Yankees were kicking my ass when I first got the call.. Yeah, they just leave you out to dry unfortunately. The game is a huge upgrade overall. I'm also getting realistic scores. Like I've played 4-5 full games so far and the most lopsided one was 10-3. I'd much rather have the Show, but where am I going to get $400 for a PS3 and the game...?
  5. Carlos also hit the crap out of the ball for a couple of weeks in 09 before he started struggling. It's a great sign, but we'll have to see.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) for those who didn't watch the game or monitor the game thread, when Hendry was in the booth with Len and Bob, Len dropped a nugget along these lines "The Cubs never over-hype their prospects." It good a funny reaction in the game thread. I love irony.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) And those 5 innings a week, are usually the most important 5 innings of the week. This is a very interesting thought and I tend to agree with it. Not every inning is the same. This is where value gets a bit screwed up. With stats like VORP or WARP, they tend to undervalue relievers because they pitch less innings. However, I think that the late innings are far different than the early and mid innings. It's more of a mental thing, but in baseball, mentality might just be half of the game. If the Twins do lose Nathan, we should see a pretty big dip in their wins, mostly because Matt Guerrier will end up closing games, resulting in a domino effect of Rauch, Crain, and Mijares setting up, which thins out their middle relief. So basically, everybody is expected to do something out of the ordinary and that's when stuff starts going crazy. We saw this with the Sox in 08. When Jenks went out that bullpen shat itself and was never the same afterwards.
  8. Boldin and a 5th rounder go to Baltimore for a third and fourth round pick. Man, it would have been great to get Boldin.
  9. Skip please. I'd rather give that money to Vincent Jackson.
  10. If they have to do it, bring Arizona back.
  11. This is so unlike the Bears. Let's just hope that they make the most of whatever they spend their money on. I'm really liking this Chester Taylor move if it's done. I'd like to see what he can do if Forte sucks again this year.
  12. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Here how the prospect scores were devised: The article was very interesting and one of the few things on Bill James' site worth reading, here's the direct link: http://www.billjamesonline.net/ArticleCont...Code=James01009 Not a subscriber .
  13. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) So an interesting question, barring any trades to pick up a quality left handed power bat how would a future outfield look like if both Mitchell and JDanks2 pan out? Do you switch Micthell to a corner spot? This would be a good future to bet on only if both develop offensively as well. Unlikely but anything is possible. I don't think you can lose either way. It all depends who has the stronger arm in the end I think. Range between the two is close.
  14. Our prospect score was 0? lol
  15. I have a feeling they'll pick somebody who will make the stereotype of White Sox fans worse...*Sigh
  16. I actually want Bradley to succeed this year. It would only make Cubs fans even more bitter.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Jeez. I almost pre-ordered it yesterday but didn't want to because of the late April date. It's a lot more realistic. The destructible environments are a great touch. The game is a lot harder than MW.
  18. Every time I watch a gameplay video of the Show on defense, the camera seems really weird. It seems like it's way too zoomed in.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 06:23 AM) I thought I recalled reading somewhere that Danks would make us forget about BA and his defense... Don't get me wrong, both can be great outfielders. And I think we as Sox fans really overrated BA's defense.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 01:28 AM) I'd bet my left nut, as of right now (not to mention from watching both in college, though Mitchell was a RF and I saw Danks alittle bit in high school from scout tapes), Danks is the much better CF. Mitchell is still raw there defensively. Not saying he could potentially be better (he does have much better speed), but Danks is the much better defensive CF right now. They both have the projected range that could make them good CF's (jump, ability) etc.. to answer the other posters question BTW. We'll be extremely lucky if one, yet alone both ever make it. It'll be fun watching Mitchell develop there though. He was talking about projected range and such. If we're talking about the future, Mitchell has much better tools to be the better outfielder. He's just much more athletic and his range should be greater than Danks'.
  21. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 01:08 AM) Do either Jared Mitchell or JDanks2 have the projected range that could make them good CF's? I mean do they have the jump and ability to run good routes in the field? Yes and yes. Mitchell's better though. While we're on the topic of awesome underrated fielders... How about that Ryan Sweeney?
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 04:04 AM) Why were the fireworks circles completely black? And something seemed...off? For Castro and Ramirez in terms of how they look. And Nix was playing. I'm doing a roster revamp. I put those guys in the lineup to see if the batting stances I changed matched their real life stances. I think they do for the most part, but I'll let you be the critic. The game doesn't actually have them playing every day, lol. And no, there were no fireworks from what I've seen.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) You seem excited. As am I, but I'll have to wait till after baseball tryouts tomorrow (How do you get your mind off baseball!? MORE BASEBALL!). 2k10, however, seems to not fair as nicely http://ps3.ign.com/articles/107/1073296p2.html No check swings and my player mode seems to suck. Reviewer failed for mentioning trading draft picks. No Gordon in this video, but you get to see Danks pitch with Kotsay, Castro, Pierre, and Ramirez up to bat.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) Morneau, what the hell are you talking about? If you're going to praise us, at least praise the rotation. Geez.
  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I was thinking about this about a week ago and it makes a ton of sense. First of all: I expect the Astros to suck and be probably ~8 back of the Cards by July. Lance took a step back production wise last season at age 33 and will probably put up similar numbers in '10 (~.880-.900 OPS) eliminating any possibility of the Astros picking up that $15M option of his. Would they even offer him arbitration? He makes $14.5M and he'd get the same from an arbitrator, if they're not willing to pick up the option and pay him $13M for 2011 ($15M salary - $2M buyout) would they risk him accepting and making that same number if not more through arbitration in his age 35 season? If they're not going to get anything in return for one of the greatest players in the team's history when he walks at year's end then they have to sell him off at the deadline for a couple very good prospects, you can't just lose a commodity like him for nothing. By mid July he'll be owed about $6M for the remainder of the season plus his $2M buyout, certainly doable financially (there's always the possibility of getting some cash thrown in in exchange for a little more talent). He's still a kickass left handed hitter (.291/.436/.546/.982 line last season) and would be a hell of a consolation prize when the Sox miss out on Adrian. I thought about this too. It's definitely worth a thought if Fielder and Gonzalez aren't obtainable.
