  1. It seems like the only way at this point. Shame Jerry to change or sell the team. Then the team can truly rebuild the right way. I hate that it had to come to this, we're gonna be in the history books forever. But if it really changes the way this team is run, it's worth it.
  2. How was our injury record so good under Herm Schneider when it turned out he was awful at his job (according to Peavy)? It had to be either black magic or pure luck.
  3. The Athletic article pretty much points out that the Sox can't fix Vargas cause the Sox don't know how to fix it. The Dodgers probably gave Vargas a ton of information on how to approach pitchers, where they'll attack him, etc. The Sox probably just tell him to be patient and good luck.
  4. At least the Tigers can bank on at least 3 wins.
  5. I really don't think the article absolves Hahn of blame. But it sure does make his record as GM a bit murky given how KW and LaRussa came into the picture right when things were turning around.
  6. There was probably some sort of hierarchy for the players. Vets like Abreu go first. Makes you wonder if that helped divide the team back in 2022.
  7. It's gonna take a 7-4 finish to tie the Tigers for the worst record in the 162 game era. I don't see it happening, but maybe they have something cooking right now.
  8. At this rate, Benintendi might be tradeable by next July.
  9. I mean Eberflus' defense is legit. I think that's the only reason he still has a job and it's what's going to keep him in this job as long as he stops doing dumb challenges on obvious plays.
  10. He wasn't pressured on all but 1 dropback. That's 38 total pressures on 39 pass attempts. There can be multiple pressures on a single play. That's bad to begin with, but it's not like he was pressured on every single play. It was something like 23 out of 39. Which is still objectively awful, but nowhere near as disastrous as 38 of 39 pass attempts. But like I said yesterday, the TTT metrics are saying he's getting rid of the ball quickly and that's what I saw last night. He's not trying to hit the home run ball on every play. He's playing within structure. It's just that the offensive line absolutely blows and he can't hit the deep shots when they're there. All the criticisms of Caleb's game coming out of college have not really come to fruition at the pro level. It's actually a lot of his strengths in college that haven't translated so far.
  11. I guess Jerry needed a way to incentivize people to watch this god awful team for the next few years. Goes for the Bulls too. But this is seriously really cool.
  12. The Texans figured out we couldn't pick up overloads whatsoever. I don't think Caleb held onto the ball that long in this game. In fact, I think he actually improved on that from last game and I think the TTT metrics will show that. The 36 pressures were mostly a product of a terrible performance from the offensive line.
  13. We ran the ball 20 times for 70 yards and 40 of those were from Caleb's improvising after he ran away from pressure. You can't setup play action without a run game. So getting any easy chunk plays in the pass game is nearly impossible. Add on to the fact that Caleb isn't making teams pay on deep throws when they play blitz looks and it's just open season on him. Bad line + blitzes + no ability to hurt teams downfield = really shitty offense. Caleb is not without criticism because he absolutely should be better. He's looked fine reading defenses for the most part. I was actually surprised at how often he changed things at the line. That's not something a ton of rookie QBs do or even get to do. But it really feels like he has no chemistry with his receivers. Moore and Odunze were obviously not on the same page as Caleb on a lot of those throws in the 2nd half. Moore looked like he wanted Justin Fields back. But the worst thing of all is the accuracy on some of these deep throws. He missed an open DeAndre Carter again. He underthrew Kmet and Moore on his picks. I don't think deep ball accuracy was ever an issue for him in college and you'd think that arm strength and accuracy usually translates from college to the NFL. I hope it's some sort of mechanical issue because that's at least fixable. It's not like he doesn't have a strong arm, he's shown that on quite a few plays so far. But the main problem with the offense is the offensive line. They didn't play well last year, but they were not this bad. They can't pick up stunts or any kind of pressure. What's worse is they can't run block either and that was a strength of the line last year. Until they go back to being a somewhat serviceable line, this team is gonna struggle on offense and Caleb is gonna either get hurt or start seeing ghosts.
  14. Nothing on offense works cause we can't run or pass block. It doesn't help that Caleb can't throw the ball down field. His accuracy on these floating deep balls is so disappointing.
  15. 6 games back with 14 to play. Tonight's game has to be the nail in the coffin for the Cubs.
  16. I have no idea why Kentucky punted down 1 with 3 minutes left at midfield. They deserved to lose just for that despite outplaying Georgia for most of the game.
  17. This may be wishful thinking by me, but Benintendi has actually been decent at the plate in the 2nd half. Maybe his contract will be tradeable with a good first half next year.
  18. I'm surprised they found someone to insure his contract in the first place.
  19. Levis is awful. I expected Caleb to struggle a little bit, but that was a lot. The batted passes and the overthrows seemed so uncharacteristic of him. They've gotta work on him throwing with a higher arm angle on passes over the middle. Hopefully that is his worst game this year, cause doing that against a competent team would have been a blow out loss. Also the defense is the real deal. Outside of like 2 drives they gave the Titans nothing.
  20. That flip to Swift with the defender right in his face was something else. Also the arm strength and accuracy of some of those out of pocket off-balance throws was really encouraging too. I would have liked to see more quick-game stuff and some quick throws though. Overall really good game to get his feet wet and take in some NFL snaps.
  21. Well if it's 120 this year and 115 next year, they'll be competitive in...8 years?
  22. Brebbia's peripherals are at least good. Seems like he's mostly been unlucky.
  23. He's someone that's played the game at a high level at least somewhat recently. Maybe the players will actually respect him unlike Grifol's fake bullshit.
  24. Dude will never get a managerial job ever again. I wouldn't hire him to manage a little league team.
