Honestly, I'm not sure how well DeRozan fits into all of this. It just feels like we're accumulating big name guys to sell tickets. I'm all for Lonzo cause he fills a need, but aren't DeRozan and LaVine a bit redundant role-wise?

It's odd that the Rays, a team who finds relievers out of nowhere, were willing to give up maybe 2 years of a cy young caliber starter for Kimbrel and Bryant. At the time, we didn't know Glasnow was definitely headed to TJS, so maybe it's more like 1.5 years of Glasnow with innings limits, but that's a much bigger name than Madrigal and Heuer. I know the Dodgers were also involved and I wondered what they had to offer after they traded their top 2 prospects to the Nats.

I'd rather have Moncada back in the 2 hole. He hasn't been producing in the 5 hole. Hernandez has more power right now so it might be smart to hit him 5th.

Glasnow only has 2 years of control left after this year and he's going to have TJS. While that deal looks crazy, it doesn't make a whole of sense for the Cubs. They'd basically be hoping he comes back in a year and they can deal him in the 2022 off-season or at the deadline in 2023.

Lamb's biggest problem is that he has no real position versatility anymore. He's a natural 3B and TLR was afraid to play him there. He was probably the worst 1B I've ever seen in the few innings he got there. He's also a subpar OFer. Sheets at least allows you to play him at 1B and the corner OF and he's probably better with the bat at this point.

Sheets plays really deep so he might have actually had a better shot at the ball Chang hit. It's also why he probably has gotten to some balls in the gap that you wouldn't expect him to. He just looks sluggish and slow out there. Goodwin definitely played Chang shallow (I don't blame him, Chang can't hit) which is why he had issues catching that ball to begin with.

Goodwin is still a MUCH better OFer than Sheets and Lamb. Neither of those guys would even get close to the 2 balls Goodwin dropped and I think Goodwin is a bad OFer. Sheets has the range of Nelson Cruz and Lamb is basically position-less.

It's pretty clear he's still hurt. He still winces when he takes a big swing.

Eloy was projected for 2.5 WAR by ZiPS and Robert was projected for 3.3. Robert was on pace for nearly 6 WAR when he got hurt. The projection systems are definitely on the conservative side of projections for younger guys.

How the hell did we win? I don't know. But it happened. Some of the sloppiest and crappiest play I've watched, by both teams. US didn't know what build up play was. Terrible passes, terrible first touches, terrible misses on some sitters. Defense did its job and Mexico choked almost every chance they got. Acosta was probably the best player on the field and it showed on his assist on the goal. It feels pretty damn good to beat Mexico with a full MLS team, but that was probably the worst entertaining game I've watched in a while.

Lopez's stuff looked amazing today. He was hitting 97-98 and dotting it right on the corners against Ramirez and Reyes. If a relief role is going to make him useful, then by all means, keep him there. I think it would be beneficial for him to take over after Keuchel goes 2 times around the order. He basically takes Kopech's old role of throwing the 6th and 7th when the starter can't go that far.
