  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2009 -> 06:18 AM) I think biting on it is supposed to increase concentration or relax the rest of you in some way. I thought I heard this as the reasoning too. Just searched and came up with this... The Pure Power Mouthguard, which is what Byrnes wears, was developed by Anil Makkar, a Nova Scotia-based dentist who has studied neuromuscular dentistry. He told the Canadian Press last October that the mouthguard doesn't increase strength, but that it can unlock an athlete's potential by enhancing strength, balance, endurance and oxygen flow. "The jaw joint is actually the focus of power in the body because that is the most used joint in the whole body," Makkar said. "So what we're basically doing is trying to find the most comfortable position of that lower jaw. ... It relaxes all the muscles in the face and allows you (to) use more of your upper and lower body strength." Full article http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbac...html?&wired
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) The way that Getz was hitting, there is no way he isn't the regular leadoff hitter. Getz is the grinder that Ozzie has been searching for. If Pods can hit and get on base like he used to (i know it's doubtful), I think Getz is better suited as #2 hitter. He could be the new Iguchi.
  3. Nice work. already on my desktop. thanks!
  4. The new youth and speed will break our "never seen this pitcher" curse. After winning 3 of 4 in St Pete in a dome, we're bucking the bad habits of Sox past. Who's with me? Let's get a hand in...Go Sox!
  5. Thanks Sox. Good year...had potential that we never fulfilled. Time to get rid of some of these old slow guys. i'm very excited to see what Kenny does in the offseason. As sad as I am that the season is over, at least I can get back to my life and some semblance of productivity.
  6. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) That is the direction I was heading. Also remembered that the local little league has a lot of teams so I might be able to borrow some game pants and jersey for the "white sox" team. He was going to be dearth vader and then the light went on this morning and he said he wanted to be AJ. I was ecstatic. Thanks for the tip. Make sure to paint his little caboose red.
  7. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) Hey, don't blame Steve. Any way he wants it, that's the way he needs it..... well done!
  8. Agreed. Polite golf clap would be appropriate. Booing is understandable after giving up the lead the offense just gave you, but in a game he isn't starting...
  9. Challenging Javy didn't work last time. This time Ozzie should convince Javy that this game doesn't matter. "We're gonna lose it anyway Javy...so just go out there, and do whatever. You know I don't even want to win today. I'm too tired. Just mail one in, so we can all catch a nap on the bench. Do they have a Fogo de Chao here? This game is of so little importance that I'm playing Griffey in center. On turf. That's how little I care. So eff it man...let's go bowling"
  10. If i was a Twins fan, I'd be upset about the 10-8 thing...but still. It's not as if MLB invented this rule off the cuff. That's the rules. Amazing that this might come down to a coin flip. Both of our teams deserve it for our terrible play the last month.
  11. Pretty funny. Thanks for posting this! and I agree that I wish Swisher was good enough for me to like him more...i wanna like him...i do.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) WTF? I guess the agenda behind some members is to make sure they make top buck first, then get Sox fans there secondly unless they're willing to make top buck. take it easy. phone calls to my brothers.
  13. got 4 in the uppertank. not sure i'll need all 4. got some phone calls to make
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) Ya know...it's been a WRENCHING past couple of weeks. And regardless of what becomes of these last possible games I've understood every single one of everybody's f*** you's, you suck so and so, etc...and I've been right there with ya. But bottom line what I've come to realize tonight sitting rationally discussing tonights events with my lady...bottom line is we're ALL Sox fans and bleed black and silver and love this team no matter what we say in a fit of rage. So I guess this is my little shpeel that no matter what happens the next few days...just realize that this team is a REAL passion in your life. Good or bad...it's still a passion...and better than having none at all. Right now I hate this team. I say that knowing that deep down...I still love it. That's just us. We're bipolar. We're White Sox fans. We want the best. And if we flop the next day or two...we'll be right back up on that horse come spring training. I've really enjoyed the banter you dudes have provided this year! Well said. What I'm wondering is, how excited I'm going to be if we do make the playoffs. I don't know that I can muster enough happiness, knowing that we don't stand a chance. Call me a bad fan, but this team, this month, has shown me that they can't be counted on. I'll always be a Sox fan, but they broke my heart so many times this year, it's foolish to expect otherwise.
  15. Buehrle's pitching fine...these are bad luck hits...the Sox look livelier today... let's get em.
  16. uggh, Griff in center. His homerun last night is gonna cost us this series.
  17. Let's do it! Made my own crappy photoshop. no offense.
  18. Let's throw Boone Logan into the f*** you pile.
  19. QUOTE (Bhay99 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) worst thing a pitcher can do in baseball....why would anyone shut up about it....it's borderline retarded. it sucks I agree, but we effing know it...let's not harp on it. it's painful enough to watch it.
