  1. Well, a good justification for that is that the human polls suck because you pretty much can never drop unless you lose. They really don't take much into account how teams played except looking at the W or L. Anyways, what's more a travesty? Oklahoma, the #1 team in the nation for months being denied a Sugar Bowl berth or USC, the #1 team for a week?
  2. Good one, Heather. I'd poke fun at ISU, but they lost to the Fighting Illini. That's more than enough. I don't know why I have to keep saying this, but I really couldn't care less if Bradley had a football team or not.
  3. Hopefully they do so all the babies that whined about Webster and Rupe will shut up.
  4. The markets that pulled out used some bulls*** excuse that they couldn't air 90 minutes for Al Sharpton because then they would need to air 90 minutes for every other candidate. NBC has said they worked all that legal mumbo jumbo out a long time ago and that there was no problem. Specifically with the markets in Iowa, I think one NBC lawyer said, "I guess their lawyers haven't finished law school," which is funny because A) ripping on Iowa is always appreciated... It is possibly the worst place in the world and B) it exposes most of these for their "truer" intentions.
  5. We had a discussion like this earlier at WSI... I'm not going to reitterate the whole shpiel (cwsox could do that better, he wrote a very eloquent piece against the whole concept of a play-off), but it really isn't needed in football. That, and how many games can you expect these kids to play? Most Div-1 teams play about 13 now. Adding 3-4 more for a play-off... You would have to drop some regular season games which would just hurt the smaller schools more, anyway. There is no need for a play-off, nor is there need for the BCS. College football was fine the way it was.
  6. The Irish are sitting to pretty to join a conference.
  7. Willingham is still dealing with recruits mostly brought in by Bob "The Genius" Davie. Give him some time. You're not going to make the program by adding instability to it and firing a coach every couple of years. If he can win at Stanford, he can win at Notre Dame.
  8. Until yesterday, Oklahoma was the most unstoppable team in quite some time. They are still the best team in the nation. Who did LSU and USC lose to? Oklahoma deserves a shot at the crown. There aren't two teams in the country better than them. I'd say LSU vs. Oklahoma. You don't stay #1 in the nation from September to December by accident. Anyone who honestly believes they don't deserve it is completely and utterly insane.
  9. ARGH... f***ing Blues... How could they give Detroit a tie? Bah!
  10. Never said UNC wasn't another vastly overrated team, either.
  11. What? Illinois is the most overrated garbage team in the Big 10 this year. They'd have lost to Duke by about 80.
  12. OVER-RATED (clap clap clapclapclap) OVER-RATED... Not just MSU... The whole Conference that Can't Count.
  13. I don't think I've ever had as much encouragement to go to a church and pray.
  14. Anybody that pays someone $5 million when he's one curveball away from needing a bionic arm is an idiot. My bet is he ends up in Texas after they get into a bidding war with themselves and sign him for around $8 million/year.
  15. The NBA needs to drop this silly conference format... There's nothing worse than watching the anticlimatic NBA finals after a good Western Conference Championship Series...
  16. Well those are the worst preseason picks I've seen ever. Meh, the Trib just has a Big 10 bias.
  17. Does the BCS strenghth of schedule update every week? By that I mean, does it not count teams on your schedule you have not played yet (for example, with tOSU, Michigan) and then add them on after the game or is strength of schedule always measure the full season? If they update, an Ohio State win locks it for the Buckeyes, IMO.
  18. No offense Heather, but all ISU is good for is your major. When I visited the campus my senior year of high school they told me I didn't have to write an essay to get in because I scored higher than a 26 on my ACT. I promptly got up and left the meeting and went home.
  19. Western Illinois also has a very, very good business department, IIRC.
  20. It's a complete sham that the U of I is always the cheapest option in state just because it is the state's public university. Most private schools, though having a higher base cost, give away a lot more money in scholarships and grants. With a 29 and being in the top 10% of my class, I got BU's best scholarship. Compared to my friends at UIUC, I pay waaaaaaaay less than they do (I think the descripancy is over $6,000/year) and I go to a better school for my major (education). The rule of thumb that says a state university being cheaper than a private is very misleading. I have no idea about Illinois' business program, but I know Bradley has a very respectable College of Business. Don't put blinders on your options.
  21. He IMed me last night and said the same thing (about me swearing in chat rooms) and since I don't think I've ever been in an AOL chat room, I caught the little f***er's bluff. I was piss ass drunk when he messaged me, though, so I told him off hardcore style and then blocked him. Probably a pimply-faced 16 year old.
  22. Dez White needs to be benched for at least a game for being a total dips***... When do they start telling you to get your ass out of bounds late in the game and you need to savor seconds? :fyou Idiot.
  23. Right. Denial isn't just a river, you know. Anyways, the guys at WSI are right... This has all to do with jacking NBC around and none to do with joining a conference.
