QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) This is the most childish fight I've ever seen on this board. I really don't know why you guys are fighting as our teams don't play in the same division and no real rivalry. Both teams are historically great, Bears floundered this year and the the 49ers excel. Bears have been better over the past decade, but haven't been a model franchise. Both suck at drafting QBs like most of the NFL. Now can it stop? I'll throw the olive branch and say the 49ers had Montana, Young and for a brief run, Garcia...we are the ones who have been terrible at drafting QBs -

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Alex is a free agent at the end of this season. He had a great season this year and won us some huge games. Harbaugh has a lot of faith in him I know, but he's still a game manager QB, you need a QB to win you games though, look at the last QBs who've won SBs, the last game manager who won a SB was TB Bucs Johnson I believe...dunno if you can win with that type of QB unless you have a monster D and I'm not sure if SF has that type of shutdown D, I could be wrong though -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Remember when they drafted Alex Smith and passed on that other QB. What ever happened to that guy? Yeah, first overall pick and they get Smith. We had a crack at Rodgers too and got Benson Rodgers wouldn't have done anything with us though, we don't groom QBs -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) This argument is seriously dumb, this isn't college football, they'll settle it on the field. I know it's dumb but a 9ers fan comes in here and states that we will continue to suck no matter who we hire as GM, like they've been setting the NFL world on fire this decade and the Bears haven't won a division or gotten to a SB this decade. -

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) I've had many Bears fans talk shi* over the years, how the tide has turned and I can't do the same? That's not fair at all..... And I sure will enjoy that playoff run, you enjoy the GM search I haven't really seen that here, our rivals are the Packers, Vikes and Lions, most Bears fans don't care about the 49ers, especially since they haven't been relevant for over a decade. -

Bears were in the NFC championship game last year, lost their starting QB and still lost by one TD to the eventual champs...at least get to the NFC championship this year before talking smack. -

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) I love it when you guys pull up team history, but when its against them its all about what have you done for me lately........ I'll take the 5 Superbowl rings and 18 division championships, along with the first round bye and you guys go enjoy the debacle that is the Chicago Bears......hey at least you guys are 1-0 in 2012..... You started the mud slinging, nobody here gives a crap about the 49ers, and you come in saying the Bears will continue to suck no matter who they hire...that's baiting and we responded. I love how a fan of a team that hasn't done anything in over a decade comes here and starts s***.Even though GoSox05 is a Packers fan and we are the biggest rivalry in the NFL, he shows class and us Bears fans don't mess with him. Enjoy your short playoff run courtesy of the Packers (doubt you get that far though) -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Hard to single them out right now, they(as in George) did what we have been asking them to do for the past 3 years. Besides, Hegone33 is just trying to get a rise out of bears fans right now, since his perennial contender 49ers has shown everyone how to win their division with regularity over the past 5 years like the Bears have. Oh, wait..... Ha! We can accept goofing by Packers, Patriots or Steelers fans but...Niners fans? -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Yeah, I can't get enough. Thankfully, I'm a bastard and called Comcast and told them if they didn't give me League Pass for free, I'd cancel and go to DirecTV, because they made me that offer (they didn't actually make said offer). So, free NBA League Pass all year long! Wow, that is so gangsta -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) It hurts that he didn't get 5,000 yards. I think that the hype is still enough that he will get it - it just won't be as unanimous as previously thought. Rodgers 45% Brees 35% Brady 15% Tebow 5% (that's the ESPN contingent) I would love to know who voted for Tebow if there are any MVP votes for him so we can go out and beat him (them?) with sticks. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 11:21 PM) So, didn't see the Heat lost. Unbeatable. Also, the Big 3 will be dead tired and one is going to get hurt. I don't believe anybody said they would go 66-0, I agree with you, in a compressed schedule with so many back to back games, the Heat will wear themselves out if they try to go all out every game with their still weak bench, this is where Chicago's depth will prevail. The Bulls will again have at the very least, the best record in the EC. If Wade doesn't get hurt in this wacky tight season, it will be a minor miracle. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) If this is the case, then the Bulls REALLY have no shot. If your best player can't consistently get to the cup and either get to the line or get your 'mates open shots, you're done. I chalked up last year's performance to Rose being extremely young and possibly not being 100% physically. But if he can't beat LeBron off the dribble, sorry, they have no chance. And that's a guarantee I agree with your post but I DO think Rose can beat LBJ to the rim, we'll just have to wait and see this year with a more mature, agressive and most importantly, healthy Rose. -

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) How is a team that goes 15-1, outscores their opponents by over 200 points over the course of the season and just beating another playoff team with mostly their reserves on the decline? I understand that since this is a Sox board there are a lot of Bears fans. However, I'd like to hear some reasoning for this "decline" other than just stating it as fact without any actual explanation. The regression on the Packers D can be attributed to a few factors in my mind. First, they lost one of the best safeties in the league in Nick Collins which I believe someone else mentioned earlier. Also, they lost Cullen Jenkins at DE who had a very nice end of the year last year. Without Jenkins getting pressure from the D-line it gives teams a lot more freedom to double guys like Matthews and Raji. Raji has not regressed much in my mind. The issue is that he is getting doubled up a lot and is being forced to play more of a run stuffing role than a pass rushing role. Despite the fact that they are giving up a lot of yardage they still lead the league in interceptions. Also, you do realize that the Saints will have to play outside if they face the Packers in the NFC Championship, right? The same Saints who are 5-3 on the road and 3-2 in outdoor games. The same Saints who haven't scored 40 points outside in one game this year (including the season opener in much nicer weather conditions than it will be in January). The Packers are 8-0 at home and 12-1 outdoors this season. As I said before, they lead the league in interceptions. Brees has already thrown 14 picks this season. He is also much more mortal outdoors vs indoors. Just something to think about before crowning the Saints. Nobody is saying the Packers suck, all we are saying is that the Packers won last year not only because of Rodgers, the defense was was really really good. They never trailed by more than a TD last year, this year the Packers D has given up a ton of points and the O has carried them. Sure the Pack can win by outscoring the other team in a shootout but a team like the Saints or like someone else pointed out, the Giants with their solid D and competant offense, can upset the Packers. I think a lot of people are underrating how good the Packers D was last year and how important they were to their SB run, it wasn't all just Rodgers.
