  1. QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) Then what do you think the market for a slugger who will be 36 years old on opening day will be. Hes not getting his 5/60 again, Abreu got 2/18 about this time last year at age 33 after a season with 30HR and 30SB. If Konerko wants 3/30 we will sign him, yeah ok if he demands his 5/60 again he can go play for someone else. White Sox and JR will absolutely be the best offer he gets. Smart to be positioning the way he is, but don't see a lot of teams stepping-up for these big numbers. Over-saturated position and despite the year he just put-up, he's too old for someone to take a late-career gamble with an expensive long-term contract other than the hometown squad where he draws fan support, etc. He will be back....
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Ozzie has no right to run this show for another year. ^^^^^^^^^
  3. QUOTE (Allsox @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) And Reinsdorf knows who the White Sox face of the franchise is and that's Ozzie (Whether fans like it or not). No way he lets him go, esp in light of weak attendance figures this yr Think they learned that a line-up including starters like Omar Vizquel, Juan Pierre, Andruw Jones Mark Kotsay and Mark Teahen doesn't excite people all that much. Ozzie, don't let the door hit you on the a** on your way out. Good riddance you self-absorbed wind bag. Take your adult ADD elsewhere...
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Ozzie better start playing the youngsters. However, I'm sure Omar will be playing every day. What are you saying? That might take ABs away from Kotsay.........
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 06:32 AM) Teahen is underrated by so many people it's ridiculous. So what that our hot streak coincided with his injury, it was pure coincidence. The Sox have just misused Teahen this year. You sir are out of your frickin' mind!!!
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) One of the single biggest blunders in White Sox history. If we win that game 1-0 behind Britt Burns' incredible performance, LaMarr Hoyt wins the deciding game and we probably win a WS way before 2005. Most heartbreaking game / series in history ... Dempsey is my Buckner

  8. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) He's slumping right now, the sky isn't falling. Correct, it already fell
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Yeah, that''s not cool. I hope he meant something else by it Right, I'm cheering for his drug use ... he's currently drug-free and a rover in our organization

  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) La Marr Hoyt made this interesting quote in the Sporting News that I found checking on Hoyt. I also think he got busted for drugs either after leaving baseball or while with the Padres "Aw, in the summer when it'shot, I'll throw a few 'natural spitters' - just use the sweat that's runnin' down my forehead. No big deal; it's all legal. I don't use any foreign substance - just sweat. I'm not going to live and die with the pitch; it's too hard on your arm. But if it's hot and I?m tired, I'll use it. It's just sweat. It's legal." - La Marr Hoyt in The Sporting News (April 22, 1985) I'll just add this from what I found: Other Resources A right-handed pitcher, Hoyt had two fine seasons with the Chicago White Sox, climaxing with the AL's Cy Young Award in 1983, when he led the league in victories with a 24-10 record. He had also led in victories with a 19-10 record in 1982. The White Sox won the AL Western Division in 1983 and Hoyt pitched them to a 2-1 victory in the first game of the league championship series against the Baltimore Orioles, but Chicago lost the next three games and Baltimore took the pennant. After a 13-18 record in 1984, Hoyt was traded to the NL's San Diego Padres. He was 16-8 in 1985, but slipped to 8-11 the following year. In 1987, Hoyt was suspended from major league baseball for a year because of three arrests for drug use. He spent 45 days in prison and was then invited to try out with the White Sox in 1988.Shortly afterward, however, he was arrested again and convicted of possession of marijuan and cocaine.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) He either has to be the DH next season or traded. Or DFA'd, he sucks
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) If the Sox can sweep the Twins they are far from done. Its a big if, but if they deserve to be in the playoffs its something they have to do. sign Crede asap
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Mike Quade's shown more balls in 3 weeks than Ozzie has in the last 3 years when it comes to handling players. Duensing mowing down the Royals now. At least we no longer hear from people how the Sox starting pitching staff is far superior than that of the Twins. ^^^^
  15. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Am I the only one who hates Omar hitting second? But yeah that is what your 3-4-5 should be. I'm not wild about it either, but at least he gets on base from time-to-time....

  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) Is Kotsay and his .175 batting average still the worst in baseball with RISP? Is Kotsay the worst in baseball? Without a question...
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Although SUPPOSEDLY Konerko could have played tonight. Ozzie is saving him for an important game
  21. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:07 PM) okay you ozzipologists, let me hear ya...tell me once again how kotsay > thome Ozzipologists will never admit that he even ever makes mistakes, let alone that he is an awful manager. The Kotsay thing is such an abortion, he should be non-stop booed every time he's on the field. He flat out sucks.
