  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Regardless of the reasoning, I'll take the guy with the .381 OBP hitting 3rd vs the guy with the .331 OBP. Ozzie, without question, is making the right call here. All good for conversation... Might I suggest however that Dunn is even slower than Konerko and can eat a bag of raw meat before getting home vs. Rios, who has speed. Doesnt matter if he has a higher OBP if he can't score from 1B. Just saying, think he is a true clean-up guy and you protect him with TCQ until Ginger Kid's prophesy comes true and then you put Rios or Beckham in the 6-hole
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Regardless of the reasoning, I'll take the guy with the .381 OBP hitting 3rd vs the guy with the .331 OBP. Ozzie, without question, is making the right call here. Rios is, at-best, a 2/6-hole hitter. Using a clean-up batter in the 3-hole is a waste of his production...
  3. "Spring Training dictates to me where they're going to hit," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "How they feel more comfortable. How the team looks better. I want to protect Adam and PK with Rios, and I can do a lot of things here. Rios can steal bases and stuff, and A.J. [Pierzynski] can hit-and-run with [Carlos] Quentin. We can do a lot of things with them. I'm just going to start with Dunn batting third to see how it works." Protect Adam and PK with Rios? GMAFB
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 27, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) I also don't think this is going to go over well with players, regardless of their feeling for Jenks one way or the other. This is Ozzie doing essentially what Oney was doing, making public a player's personal life and stuff that should've remained behind closed doors. To me it smacks of serious trust issues, not to mention maturity. No question about it, it is really distracting and bad for the club. I just dont understand why he can't figure out to be an adult and manage the club like a professional. Write a book after you get fired if you need to soothe your ego....
  5. I would not be surprised to see Jorge Cantu sign a one year deal with the Sox. Also think he underperformed in Texas and could be a good utility player for us. DFA Teahen ;-)
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Something changed in Dye like 2 1/2 years ago. Heard some places it was marital issues, but he just hasn't been the same guy since. I have a friend who is still in the A's marketing organization and apparently JD loved to take strippers to Hawaii with him, would take them golfing/have them caddy for him, have them strip down and lie down on the green next to the hole and give him something to aim at. He always used to ping me when he would see one of the Boys/Girls Clubs of America ads while he was with the Sox. Full respect. Love JD, bring that man a contract!
  7. Pretty Interesting Overview: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyba...icago-white-sox
  8. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Joba has dominant closer stuff and with the signing of Soriano is expendable. no he doesn't.......
  9. Hard to beat Scottie Pippen Pontiac
  10. Cashman said the Yankees are not signing Soriano because they are not willing to give up a draft pick for him.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) Where is Tampa in all of this. They literally have no bullpen. Tampa draws 4k a game, no one cares, including their management ... Can you say Charlotte?
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I'm happy for Blylevin, but Morris was every bit his superior, IMO ^^^ Absolutely this ^^^ Jack Morris was THE dominant AL starter from the 80s. More importantly, Burt just getting the love because he's been campaigning as a member of the media and is viewed as Mr. Nice Guy. Lame
  13. Soriano chatter? all those who sweat Hudson / hate-on Jackson have another thread.................
  14. Jackson (post trade): Tm 5 Lg W L W-L% ERA G GS GF CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR BB IBB SO HBP BK WP BF ERA+ WHIP H/9 HR/9 BB/9 SO/9 SO/BB 2010 26 CHW AL 4 2 .667 3.24 11 11 0 0 0 0 75.0 73 31 27 8 18 2 77 1 0 7 315 135 1.213 8.8 1.0 2.2 9.2 4.28
  15. I have a different take ... EJaxx had an awesome run with us last year and we now have him + Dunn this year. I would also say that there is a little post breakup hype over Hudson on the board, think Jackson just as good of a pitcher. Additionally, we can trade him mid-year when all other teams are looking for arms if Peavy returns to form ...
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) im fine with getting rid of him if we don't make the playoffs, but if we don't make it it won't be his fault. sorry, what's the point of an expensive manager again?
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) ^^^^^ ABSOLUTELY THIS ^^^^^^ Good Luck Bullwhip
  18. I'm sorry, but 15+ pages about that sh*t a** spoiled little brat Oney, who would be working in a Chavez labor camp if his father didn't play MLB? Enough already. Bobby, thanks for the memories, your 'bull whip' close in game one of WS05 will go down in history. Be glad that you earned last year's contract and that you have a chance to play for a serious contender on another rich 2yr contract. Hope you straighten out your personal life and don't blow all the cash you've earned... Good luck to you in the future. Now can we all move-on and talk about the '11 Sox march to the World Series or Harold's possible last time on the HOF ballot?
  19. Here's another twist ... With the A's dropping out of the Beltre sweepstakes, the Angels are the likely frontrunner there. Additionally, rumors are that they plan to move Torii back to CF, leaving a problem for them in RF. So how bout a multi-team trade: CQ to Anaheim for Howie Kendrick, move Bacon back to 3B, trade EJaxx+ to the Yankees for Granderson (or possibly Gardner for less). Teahen is the utility guy off the bench, 3B, 1B, OF, DH, etc. Lineup: Pierre LF Granderson RF Konerko 1B Dunn DH Rios CF Missile SS Kendrick 2B Beckham 3B AJP C
  20. http://mlb-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssport...297882/26696163 Regardless of how good they think Ivan Nova and Sergio Mitre are, I say they need a dependable SP with some experience under his belt. Hughes is not going to repeat that season and AJB is a cross between Barry Zito and Ian Baker-Finch Everyone on this site thinks I'm crazy, but I still think there is a reasonable trade here involving Granderson and a prospect arm, Pierre/CQ and EJaxx, or something along those lines.
  21. With the Crain signing, think it's all the more likely we are dumping Edwin to the Yankees. Bring on Brett.....
