Carlos Lee hurt; Olivo full-time starter
UofIChiSox replied to Jabroni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Having A.J. sure makes me feel a lot better about the Olivo loss. Olive was a fun guy to watch though, I hope he and Reed are both successful. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) How ever did you notice that? Click on this link, then go to the second link there labeled as "Chicago White Sox pitcher Brandon McCarthy warms up before facing the Texas Rangers in a Cactus League game at spring..." The open fly kind of jumps right out at you seeing as how it's centered and you can't even see his face.

it's crazy, you think these are isolated incidents, but there are a ton of Cubs fans like that!
-
I LOVE making sports bets with friends. I bet a Cubs fan friend of mine a couple years ago that Moises Alou would NOT win the Triple Crown. The dude actually bet me that Moises Alou would WIN THE TRIPLE CROWN. I was flabbergasted, but the bet was only a pizza. Cubs fans will never bet me, even relatively safe bets, like Cubs having a better record than the Sox the past couple years.

Please excuse my laziness, but I don't wanna look through 55 pages to find this, but..... Has anyone figured out pretty fair ratings to give Iguchi when you create him?
-
He'll never pitch in the majors if he can't learn to zip up his fly.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) I heard the subpeonas are going to any player named in Juiced. If that's the case, Boone, Bonds, Wilson Alvarez, Dave Martinez, Ozzie Canseco should be going too.

People down at U of I, be host to Jim Caple

Too bad I'm leaving that Friday to go to Tucson for some White Sox baseball!! The things I give up.... -
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) Anyone heard why Frank has to go? Did they just draw names out of a hat or something? Other than him, and probably Schilling, the other guys are Steroids Poster Boys. Chances are Congress wants to hear both sides of the story. Frank is a big, powerful guy that by all accounts and evidence has never touched steroids. He's also been a fairly vocal anti-steroids guy. It makes sense to bring in both guys who more than likely take/took steroids and guys who didn't. I'd really like to see Selig and Fehr going in there too, so Congress could flat out ask how they let this happen, how they "didn't notice", or if they've just turned their backs on it.

I like the loyalty to the team that he and others are at least saying he has. I'll pull for Willie, and he can still get a ton of PT this season if he can play middle infield and outfield.

Who does Ben Gordon remind you of?
UofIChiSox replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think he has aspects of Jordan's game more than aspects of any of these other guys. Similar position, HUGE CLUTCH FACTOR. I don't think he's the caliber or even on pace to become the caliber of Michael Jordan, but nobody has made the types of plays Gordon is making for the Bulls since Jordan left. -
ps2, not till wednesday after my business law exam though. BTW, I had the rosters from ps2rosters.com for baseball last year with all the minor leaguers. It was sweet, but throughout the years the players who should have developed didn't. Player development was so screwed up last year though that I don't know whether there was anything the people who made the minor league rosters could have done about it. I have used ps2rosters for college football, college basketball, madden, and mvp rosters, they are all way better than what comes on the game, especially the college ones.

I'm pretty sure it's quite normal for northern colleges to play that many away from home before being at home. I go to U of I in Champaign, and our first home game is game #17, with the first ones all being in tournaments down south.

Frank Thomas mention in Canseco book.
UofIChiSox replied to UofIChiSox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Ditto, Frank was a rookie for the Sox when I started really watching baseball he is by far my favorite athlete of all-time. When he is inducted into the Hall of Fame I will be in the crowd at Cooperstown cheering him on. I was at the hall of fame this fall and decided right then that the next time I would be back was for Frank's induction. -
I have a sharkport, it consists of a USB cable and cd's for both the PC and the PS2. It allows you to save games on your hard drive and then send them to memory cards in your ps2. Sharkports are really hard to find and the ps2 disk is the old blue back type and only works with some systems. I have a new slim ps2 and the sharkport CD doesn't work on it. Also, the website mentioned above, ps2rosters.com, has a lot of info on other options, including Gamebox rosters. I think with a Gamebox you can use something called an Action Replay, but I really don't know much about those.

Frank Thomas mention in Canseco book.
UofIChiSox replied to UofIChiSox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) If that's the only mention of Frank Thomas in the book, good deal. I would be absolutely crushed to hear Frank's name involved with steroids. I haven't read the whole book, but that story is the only pages on which Frank Thomas is mentioned according to the index. Frank has been his size or close to it since playing football at Auburn, so I have never really worried much about him and steroids. Although maybe some 'roids would help him heal more quickly! -
Just a story about Thomas ridiing with Conseco in his Ferrari after a card show in Miami, they were challenged to a street race, were going 130 and came to a curve on the expressway and Canseco lost control, went into a spin, but then saved it before they hit anything. Funny quote about Thomas though:

We have to enjoy this game too, because the rumor is that a company other than EA is in negotiations to get the exclusive license for MLB like EA got for football. IGN article about MLB rights

The Chicago White Sox of Addison!!

I'm in quite the pickle with this. I hate to straight up lose it, but I'll feel dumb wearing it at games.

what with living two hours from the stadium as it is, what's another half hour to me? Personally, I would rather keep stadiums closer to downtown and the actual city though if at all possible. It's neat to be able to look out from your seats and see the skyline towering over you and what not.

I have had a great time in Tucson the last two years, and one thing to remember if you choose to only go to the Phoenix area is that a lot of times the entire team doesn't travel up to the games in Phoenix. Two years ago I went and saw the Sox play the Royals at Surprise and there were only a couple starters there. I prefer seeing most of the team in Tucson, but that's me, if you're more into the prospects and stars of tomorrow, Phoenix games may be better.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) I heard tickets were going to be something close to 100$ per seat -- could be wrong, but I might have even heard $200 -- one of those two numbers. Sorry, I know that's a broad price range, but I either heard one hundred or two hundred... I think you get full food service with waiters/waitresses, much like club level. From the article linked above in this thread:

Hey, I don't post too often in the offseason, too many rumors and little real action for my taste, but I was just wondering if there is any chance Konerko would be involved as well. I hope not, because I felt it was time to deal Lee or Konerko, not Lee and Konerko. Thanks for the info.
