Dee Brown declares for draft
UofIChiSox replied to AssHatSoxFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Somebody before mentioned that he has a son, and on top of that, he also has already graduated, so if he did go to the draft, he'd be leaving Illinois with a degree already. That being said, I think he can increase his stock a lot more if he can lead a less talented Illinois team to success, but at the same time, if Illinois struggles, he may lose some luster that he's gained with the Final Four run. Basically, I think he's doing just what Powell did last year, getting his name out there and trying to find out as much about where he stands as possible. -
I just wish some of the media had the optimist point of view. Our pitching is above where it will probably end up, and our hitting is below, all I ever here is that the pitching will come back to earth, but can't somebody point out that the offense is bound to improve too?

He better hit another one tomorrow when I'm there to see it.

QUOTE(Reddy @ May 2, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) im not sure what i think about this... how is this different from steroids? EDIT: or frank using aluminum bats in BP??? It's a tough line to draw because you could argue that it's not much different from one player using pure, natural, God-given vision and one wearing contacts. The contacts are enhancing the performance of the player with worse vision.

Hell, he can't even count to 2.

I've heard about the need to shorten the season if amphetamines are banned, my question is just how is the game so different from the past when pitchers pitched every day or every other day or whatever. It's amazing how much the game has changed from being more about endurance then to power now.

am I dreaming or did Konerko play a little third base at one time?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) 16-4 /that is all. yours is a lot easier to read.

I'm a statistics kind of guy, we've won 80% percent so far, no reason that that won't continue.. 129.6-32.4
-
Almost every team is gonna win the sixty and lose sixty like he says, but I don't know that there is any way to determine when a game, win or loss counts as one of the sixty or one of the 42. Eitherway, I like listening to Hawk, even if he does get repetitive and made fun of.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) I like what he did this offseason, staying true to his word with the Sox, after being offered more money. I don't follow the Sox or this board as much during the offseason as I do now, who offered him more money and what's the story with the whole situation?

being a baseball fan and growing up in the Peoria area I still hardly ever went to Peoria Chiefs games, who are a Low A Cubs affiliate now but were Cardinals before and had Ankiel when he was the biggest thing in baseball and Pujols for a whole year. They also have a sweet downtown stadium, and I still don't go. It's weird watching guys you've never heard of, even though you know one of them will probably be in the majors some day. I'd take Major League hands down.

Come on, he's the greatest!
-
85-87 wins and contend for the wildcard? I gotta think the Yanks or BoSox will be the wildcard.
-
Carlos is easy for me to root for still since he was traded away to a different league. I hope him all the best. I hope Lee can lead the Brewers over the Cubs, at least he'll have 19 games to kill the Cubs with this year instead of just 6. Maggs is tougher since he's still in our division.

She had some decent nicknames at least: Captain Cheeseburger Sabathia

What a great problem to have though.

That omen seems like a bit of a stretch, but I sure hope it holds true for a fourth year!
-
IT's still very early of course, but all four guys pitched very well, there's no doubt about that. I was nervous about the Cuban Twosome, but they've relieved me so far at least.

Sweet Wallpaper, it's on my background now.... The expression on Rowand's face is priceless.

yeah, Tuesday's at 9:30 Central is right, but on the MTV website I couldn't find anything about future episodes, only old ones, so I don't know when his will air for sure.

At least maybe Mariotti is going to be an equal opportunity basher this year?

Will Konerko record a stolen base this season?
UofIChiSox replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I remember after the steal last year he was quoted in some story about having a goal of stealing four bases in the season, about one a month. Didn't happen, doesn't need to, but pretty funny. -
I was looking at the standings, they're pretty weird.... Every AL team is 2-2 except the ChiSox are 3-1 and the Rangers are 1-3. At least we're on pace to finish with a record of 121.5-40.5

Gameday!! Indians vs. White Sox 4-6-05
UofIChiSox replied to Capn12's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I'm glad to be back from the Final Four, today will be my first regular season game viewing, I don't know how I'll get through class.
