For those who complain about media perception
UofIChiSox replied to UofIChiSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I take backhanded compliments over him saying that we are going to fade. Shouldn't the best team in the league have to be compared to the other teams? -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Ok Sweatpants, from what I understand is that Frank thomas broke his navicular bone in his ankle. Here is a website showing you what that bone is, and what it is used for. http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp09012.htm Here is some more info: http://www.emedicine.com/sports/topic85.htm Tell me something, do you think Frank Thomas would just fake an injury on a year like the Sox are having? Conversely, looking at the nature of the injury and the subsequent surgery, isnt it possible that Thomas could re-injure the foot very easily and irritate the injury often? I know you might have posted all of this somewhat sarcastically, but it was interesting stuff. I only knew Frank had a bad ankle, now I know more and I thank you.

He's coming around, everyone else will follow as long as we keep it up.

Who would you guys rather face in the playoffs....
UofIChiSox replied to Tadahito Iguchi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd really like to face KC in the playoffs, I think we have their number this year. -
This year in interleague he was 1-0, with the victory against Tamba Bay, and no decisions against TB and Texas.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the continued idea that the AL Central is a weak division. It's easy to see that 32 of our wins are against the Central, but all the teams in the central standings have better or even record than the team in the East with the same spot in the standings. Chicago has a better record than Boston, Minnesota is better than NY, all the way down to KC being a half game better than TB. The Central just isn't weak anymore, but the stigma won't die!

I definitely hate that tradition too, the only good thing would be pissing off all the people around me who would have loved to get that ball.
-
Looking at that lineup, I'm pretty surprised that AJ is still hitting just .245, isn't he a career .300 hitter? I guess I thought that his average would start climbing later in the season but it really hasn't yet. Despite the low average, he has definitely been huge for the team this year though.

thank you rangercal

I was thinking about trying to catch a Chiefs game that Nomar plays in, Thursday is Thirsty Thursday with $1 beers, so that might be the night to go. I'd like to buy a $6 outfield lawn ticket and catch a Nomar homer. Then the only question I'd have to figure out is whether to A. Throw the ball back or B. get Nomar to sign it and try to sell it for hundreds of dollars to some stupid Cubs fan.

Weren't the Twins just giving him a limited opportunity anyway, and continuing to search for a better option? Poor Bret Boone.

QUOTE(SOXFANSINCE72 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Tell me what you think, I found some to be true but a lot just pretty typical. http://chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/mag/art..._id=24048&arc=n I think I don't want to pay to read it.

This is way off of course, but Frank's bat on the bench could be huge in the postseason. We'd play at least two games in an NL park in the World Series, so having a pinch hitter who is a serious power threat would be great.
-
I voted Spankees because I hate them, and would love to beat them, and no matter what their record is, once the playoffs start, every media person will STILL think they're going to win it if they're in it, so we could shove that down their throats.
-
Have you guys seen the pics off of Vida's cell phone? They're amazing.
-
something's got to happen, I can't wait till the 31st so that everything is hopefully resolved.
-
I definitely think keeping Willie and ditching Timo is the way to go. Willie is running the bases better than ever now, I think he'll be very valuable down the stretch as a pinch runner late in close games, and because if needed he can play CF, 2B, or SS.

Very similar to Buehrle's last start in the All-Star game. we got out to a big lead, then held on for a 7-5 final score.
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) yes they did. They came damn close to beating us at home, which is a no-no no one else even came close at home. When TV Guide came out with it's 25 best sports moments in the last 15 years and had the Illini-Arizona comeback at 18, I rewatched the tape I have of it, and it showed our record in games decided by 5 points or less. That was our 37th game, we were 36-1 at that point, and the Illini record in games decided by 5 points or less was....................................1-1. Nobody but Iowa really did come close. They matched up with us really well though.

What is your second favorite team in baseball?
UofIChiSox replied to tony72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I almost took a job in DC, and if I had, I decided that I was going to become a big Nationals fan, I'm still in Illinois though, so while I root for the Nationals, I wouldn't really call myself a fan of them. I have a lot of friends who are Cardinals fans and get down to a few games with them every year, so I guess I'd have to say Cardinals. -
Kansas and Roy Williams could be in trouble
UofIChiSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8586946/ IT's cool how Kansas punishes the Women's Basketball and Football programs by taking away scholarships, but the Men's Basketball program just has to have some education on NCAA Sanctions. They know where their bread is buttered. -
QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Gordon looks to be heading to OSU and I'm hearing Collins is really interested in IU and Iowa. I don't follow the recruiting that closely, but I know all three of those guys are very high on Illinois, time will only tell.

Thanks a lot, I would try to avoid the blisters, because that'd piss me off so bad. I'm not gonna let Contreras' good game last night cloud my judgement, I've been nervous everytime he takes the mound, and I'm still nervous when he does, so I wouldn't mind seeing this move. Marte looked damn good last night too though.
-
Alright, this is a stupid question, but is it Beckett or Burnett who gets freakin blisters every other game?

Here's what she wrote on the White Sox: I think it's kinda funny, obviously not true, but kinda funny. Decent sarcasm. And I do like the "larcenous" Scott Podsednik.
