  1. I'll play devils advocate, the other two parts of that trade are significant contributors to the M's this year. Morse is hitting .325 in 45 games and Jeremy Reed has played in 91 games. I agree with you though in that our feelings are going to be different now, tomorrow, and next season.
  2. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) The royals are not allowed to have multiple Brian Anderson's (Brian Andersi?) Definitely Brian Andersi!!! The bottom line is that even after trading Jeremy Reed last season, our major league and high prospects outfield is still clogged.
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Screw the trade deadline. Stay focused on winning and let's win two consecutive games on national t.v. Go get em' Freddy! Amen! I couldn't have said it better myself.
  4. QUOTE(POTUSChris @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) My three autographed baseballs. Oh....and this picture my brother took never ceases to amuse me. What a sweet pic!!! At first glance I thought it was some sort of Eskimo dude toying with a large arctic sea creature
  5. Our Magic number now stands at 47, that's reason for celebration!
  6. My Frank Thomas jersey I got in Seventh Grade, which I have of course outgrown, but was able to get him to autograph at spring training a couple years back. It's hanging on my wall in a sweet Sox case.
  7. I don't care if he throws a 54 mile per hour fastball as long as he has an ERA of 1.80 and converts 96% of his save opportunities.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) I can see the 86 pitch complete game shutout coming already! *note the absence of green as opposed to the post above. I didn't want to be TOO much of a pessimist!
  9. I can see the 86 pitch complete game shutout coming already!
  10. QUOTE(agame @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) What kind of trades can be made after the deadline? How do those work? anybody involved in a trade after the deadline has to clear waivers before the trade can go through.
  11. I get the Fox affiliates from Peoria and Davenport, both are showing the Cards, but as much as I wanted to see the Sox game today, I'm sure that the Cardinals game draws more people, it's a shame they couldn't have a doubleheader though.
  12. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Eric is probably getting traded to Boston for Minor Leaguers to replace the injured Trot Nixon. I doubt Byrnes sees the field as an Oriole. Also a few weeks ago on ESPN News Pods said D Cabrera was the easiest P to steal bases against, I think he had 4 at USCF vs him, so lets get Pods on base 4 times today so he can steal at least 6!!! What's the record for single game steals? Let's see Pods break it.
  13. Page 2 MLB Pledge of Allegiance. Pretty good article, I'm tired of rumors and fake saviors. I just want it to be Monday and see where we're at. Here's what he said about our Sox:
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Does anyone else worry that two Devil Rays are not the answer? Yes, I agree whole-heartedly with this.
  15. How about Dusty Baker? Thinking the fans booing a former player is going to cost them future free agents. That's just silly business. Seems like if Baker keeps going the way he is, he's going to screw up the biggest thing that the Cubs have going for them, the undying support of their dumb drunk fans.
  16. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 07:45 AM) I don't know if this is just me but talking about Frank Thomas having played his last game with the White Sox or in his career just makes me mad. The docter said its not career threatening and I hope hes right. I am rooting for the big man to heal and be ready next season. The sox need to atleast sign him to an incentive based contract for next season if its true that it isnt ending his career. For the people who have something against FT keep those thoughts to yourself, Thomas is a big part of the Sox franchise. I'm a big Frank Thomas fan, don't get me wrong, but there's no way that we can pick up a $10 million option on him for next year. That would just be silly. We have a $3.5 million buyout for the contract, I just pray we can negotiate something.
  17. I'm starting to think this trade season might turn into the White Sox always being the bridesmaid but never the bride.... You know, close to pulling off a lot of different deals and ending up with none.
  18. I agree with you that I'd like to see us make a hard push to win this year, but at the same time, our core of guys aren't so old that we have to win now or not win at all, and I don't feel like there are enough quality possible acquisitions to make a really over the top trade.
  19. I thought all of them basically sounded the same. IT really doesn't point out mamy major differences from one GM to the next.
  20. Not bad, but also a fairly small sample size to try to base a judgement on.
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) More like 30 minutes tops. 27 up, 27 pitches is all that it will take. Bank it. And this Willie Harris is quite the prospect. Maybe it's his time. Trade Gucci man and let this Willie man play. BEST 2B EVER!!!!!!!! It just takes time for us to score 14 runs!
  22. I had to put it up, too many threads about national media disrespecting us, and not enough about them respecting us.
  23. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) right because everyone wants Mesa and Baez. I believe that if this deal for Burnett happens than KW will probably talk to shingo and say "look homey, we just traded marte to the marlins and we need another reliever, if you report to charlotte than baring something very surprising happening you have a 99% chance to be called up very soon." Would KW really call Shingo Homey?
  24. I sure hope we don't give up a lot for a rental player, who I'm not even sure would be enough of an upgrade to push us over the top.
