  1. I guess you're right, but it sure seems to me like opposing teams should just call up three minor leaguers for every series against us!! We'd end up 0-162!
  2. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues yet, so none of us know, maybe he could be. I just hope he's successful, obviously Dontrelle did amazing stuff last year and is again, I would love to see a guy like that emerge. Maybe it'll be Diaz, maybe not. We'll get a glimpse tonight.
  3. Yeah, it seems like we always have to wait for years on these guys. Buehrle is an exception I guess, but he was even a reliever for most of one year before becoming a reliable starter. Maybe Diaz can be our guy to do well from the get go. I just hope we aren't waiting for him and Honel and other guys to settle in like we have been on Garland, Wright, and Rauch for years now.
  4. I don't know how many threads there would be on here if it wasn't for all the anti-media stuff!!! We need something to talk about I guess.
  5. Last time we had a doubleheader I found out after the fact you could see both games for the price of one. Is that the deal tomorrow too? I wanna figure it out, because a have tee time, but I'll cancel it if it's a good deal!
  6. I don't want to turn into the guy who always b****es about lack of media coverage, and I liked seeing his photo, but in the article, we were still talked about being a team that struggles at defense. WE aren't that bad at D!!! It was awesome to see big mo on there though and I hope he keeps his average up all year. Then he'll really turn some heads.
  7. Yeah, I didn't even know there was a Spiderman sequel. Now that I do and see them putting ads on bases, I'll be sure not to see it. Didn't like the first one much anyhow.
  8. My take, but then again what do I know? Burke is up now, but in two days Jose will be back, so either Burke or Dransfelt go back down. The FutureSox blurb said that it left Charlotte's infield thin, but they will have one of those guys back soon. I'm happy Wright is gone for now. I am starting to think that those 14 wins were a fluke and the 12 losses were not, as are most of you. As for the four man rotation, if they can do it, fine, because I think that so far each of those four guys have given us a good chance to win the vast majority of the games they start while Wright has not and another completely unproven fifth most likely would not.
  9. Time for MAggs to end this with a walk off homer
  10. Yeah, Adams may be old, but he made three great pitches on Gload. The best he could do with the first two would be to foul them off, the last one was just tough if you haven't seen his curve yet.
  11. Well, I was originally a Cardinals fan when I was a little guy, more of an Ozzie Smith fan really, then he retired and I realized I didn't like the team that much anymore. Then through the magic of WGN and Sportschannel at the time, I was introduced to Frank Thomas and his Chicago White Sox. Frank easily replaced Oz as my favorite player and I've been Sox to the bone ever since. PS- the hatred for the Cubs started when I was a Cards fan and has only grown.
  12. Exactly what I wish more people realized. It's tough to come through in situations like that. Maggs is a guy who does it a lot, but you certainly can't rip on him for failing twice.
  13. As well as Gload's done, although I know it is early, maybe it sucks that we can get stuck with Thomas for $8 mil next year. Maybe we should rip up his contract like he wants.
  14. I think it's too early and we're definitely not into any type of panic mode or anything, let these guys get settled into roles a little.
  15. At least Koch doesn't have delusions that he's pitched well. I know I said I don't care much about power rankings, and I don't, the fact that we're seventh doesn't matter to me at all, but I do love reading the amusing quips to the right of each team, that's for sure.
  16. Does it seem wrong to anybody else that here we are 13 games into the 2004 season and already we can vote for All-Stars? Fan voting for the All-Star game is dumb. Vote for your South Side All-Stars
  17. The only rankings that matter: CENTRAL - RACE W L PCT GB Minnesota 9 4 .692 - Chicago Sox 8 5 .615 1 Detroit 8 6 .571 1.5 Kansas City 5 8 .385 4 Cleveland 5 10 .333 5
  18. I would think that if they had been too close when those reports first surfaced the deal would be done by now. Hope I'm wrong and we hear about Maggs being brought back soon.
  19. I was gonna say Shoeless Joe too. Possibly the greatest hitter in Sox history. Don't know if they could retire something for him though since he is banned and what not? He should definitely be on that wall in left center though.
  20. I would never put out the information that our record for sellouts in a season is 8.
  21. I just rounded up a few guys to go at about noon, now I'm starting to get nervous, I don't wanna make the two hour drive from Champaign there to sit in the rain, so it's not going to rain, it's not going to rain, it's not going to rain.
  22. We might need it with no Frank and no Valentin if they can't go, but I'm sure Uribe will be fine at short and Gload can do well at 1B/DH too.
  23. Yeah, Frank Thomas is the reason I am on this board today and a diehard Sox fan, I would/will cry if I see him in another uniform.
  24. I agree Reddy. If we haven't seen em, we can hardly ever beat em.
  25. When I got back from work the score was 6-0 I watched till it was 6-5, then went to el baño Return from el baño, it's 8-5, leave for class. Go to class, check cbs sportsline, watch Koch blow it, come home. Get home and watch bottom of the ninth. So the only runs I saw scored by us were in the ninth, It sucked to watch the game for me, but there was a happy ending
