  1. The job is and should be Willie's to lose, but it never hurts to have Uribe breathing down his neck.
  2. Shoney looked alright last outing against the Dbacks. He cruised through the first two innings then got a cut on his middle finger pitching hand that bothered him in the third, but he was able to settle back in. Remember, Shoney is a guy who threw 205 innings for Anaheim a couple seasons ago when he was a starter. He did real bad again today though, let's just hope he can find his stuff because we need a guy to eat up innings, especially with inning eater Colon gone.
  3. Hi-Corbett was awesome because nobody was there. I was also at the game on Friday. My buddy's favorite player is Todd Helton, and we walked up and got two front row tickets a little behind the Sox dugout. Lee and his wife and kid walked right in front of me after he was done, he is a huge guy out of uniform. Has some monstrous legs. The highlight for me there though, was that the entire away team (White Sox) got off their bus and crossed right through the concourse to get to the locker room. Got really close to a lot of players, got some sweet pics. Also I liked the ability to go down and sit 3 feet from the bullpens rather than looking down on them like at TEP. Overall, spring training is awesome and everybody on here should try to go next year. Tucson is an awesome town too.
  4. I'll definitely be happy so long as he is a dependable teammate that loses a bunch of games!
  5. IF Sweeney and Reed are for real, maybe losing Maggs next year won't be so bad. We'll get $$$ for pitching, which we could definitely use, though none of our pitching investments have worked out too well thus far. Either way, after last year with Reed and this spring with Sweeney, I'm very excited about the future of the White Sox outfield, even if we lose MAggs.
  6. Bartolo did as bad or worse than E-Lo, thank god we got rid of him. What if we were stuck with them both!!!
  7. Everybody talks about the big question marks at the end of the rotation, but the White Sox also have one of the biggest question marks at the beginning too. Is E-Lo an ace? I sure hope he can come back somewhere near where he was last year, but it's too early to tell.
  8. Maybe I dreamt this, but I could have sworn when he was first coming up with Toronto that he had the 102 MPH fastball and that he could through a wicked slider at like 94 as well. Is this right? If so, what happened to the slider? And I, like most of you, am baffled as to where this velocity has gone.
  9. I'm a big fan of investing money in Maggs who has been a steady contributor over the last few seasons rather than Griffey who has been anything but. The way I look at it is that we still have a chance to get Maggs and give him the money he deserves. Maybe Kenny is letting him realize that he won't be able to get 15M and is gonna sign him later, we don't know. It seems VERY unlikely to me that we could add Junior Griffey now and retain Maggs next year. I'll take the steady Maggs over Iffy Griffey hands down.
  10. Sweet, thanks a lot for your help.
  11. Griffey is an awfully long way from his old self. I don't see us wanting to increase payroll either. That's just my two cents though.
  12. I've been to spring games before, but this year I kind of wanna go and check out lthe minor leaguers and stuff, not just the games in the stadium but the stuff on the practice diamonds too. What is the deal with that stuff? Is it easy to get in there, lots of room to watch, or are spectators frowned upon? Also what times are best to catch that sort of stuff? Thanks a lot in advance!
  13. #4 on the list interests me, if only we could add the $3 Mil, I wouldn't mind getting Ramon Ortiz for lower level prospects.
  14. I love Rowand, I love that he's a little white guy with an amazing work ethic. I think he's gonna break out this year and become a solid major league outfielder. not a superstar, but certainly not the liability that a lot of people have portrayed him as after Everett left.
  15. That would be pretty cool, especially if Hawk got pissed and they fought!! I would like to see how they meshed with each other. I also always like to hear the other team's perspective and opinion of our team.
  16. I was watching the game with one of my buddies who said "Wow, Ozzie looks like he should still be playing rather than managing." I'm excited to see what he can do and have a leader with charisma for a change. It'll be something new for this team, because the on field leaders, like Maggs and Thomas aren't the most fiery guys, so Ozzie will be awesome.
  17. Of course he's biased, so are Hawk and DJ. I think our team has a stigma that we stink at defense and it will take a couple years of not stinking to get rid of it.
  18. My exact quote after seeing the highlight was "Holy s***, he went opposite field". I haven't seen a lot of spring training games but from what I've read and the little I've seen, I'd say he definitely deserves to be on the ML team. He can play 1B/DH/LF/RF, Uribe for the other infield positions, Sandy to catch and then another OF. Sounds like the team to me, other than pitchers of course.
  19. Amazing how this war started all because I said I'd have to split time between the Illini game and the Sox-Cubs game!! I realize there are a lot of cocky, ignorant Illini fans, but the same can be said of all schools I think. Anyhow, I try to keep everything here White Sox. I'm keeping the Sig though!!
  20. This is the hardest question I've ever been asked, but being a senior at U of I, I don't think there would be a better way to go out than with an NCAA Title.
  21. BLAST, I'll have to flip back and forth between the beloved White Sox and the beloved Illini.
  22. Yeah, awesome. I was really just expecting links or something not for you guys to go through a bunch of work. Thanks a lot though.
  23. I know I can get names, numbers, physical stuff, and stats there, I can go by the stats on the batters I guess to guess ratings, I guess I really just wanted like pitches for the pitchers and maybe projections for how good they might turn out to be. The top 50 articles are pretty helpful, but where could I find the top twenty of those guys. I'm only seeing 21-40.
