  1. Sox at Cubs August 21-23 (3 games) Cubs at Sox (September 25-27) 3 games
  2. The two players that tested positive did so on their intake exams. The tests were positive on Wednesday when players reported I believe. If it's Moncada, it's because he showed up and was positive initially
  3. The youngest brother is supposed to be the best of the bunch and the Sox are reportedly signing him too. It's 2022 though international draft could mess up those plans potentially.
  4. The youngest brother is supposedly the best of the bunch. He’s rumored to the White Sox as well but an international draft could put a wrench in those plans.
  5. It's impossible. MLB can play because they will get paid their salaries due to television revenue. You can't have minor league baseball without fans. The operation itself can't pay anyone without stadium revenue. The hope was that an extended fall league in Arizona would occur. You could have a team full of prospects for each organization. These ideas were focused on Arizona and Florida however and doing anything in those states appears to be unlikely at the moment
  6. George Costanza?
  7. There is a DH in the NL this year. Not next year though.
  8. When would Yermin Mercedes play? That's my only issue. Collins makes more sense because he's a left-handed bat. Yermin could be on the roster to pinch hit potentially. But you can't justify starting him over Grandal, Abreu or EE.
  9. What? They don’t need 16 position players. It’ll be 16 pitchers at a minimum and maybe 17. There’s no reason not to carry that amount
  10. I feel like they need another lefty. I would've had Adalberto Mejia on there but he's not an option currently.
  11. I think the White Sox were pretty much down to one spot back in March so this might not be hard to predict. I'm thinking they'll carry 16 pitchers and 14 position players initially. Starting Pitchers Lucas Giolito Dallas Keuchel Dylan Cease Reynaldo Lopez Gio Gonzales Carlos Rodon Michael Kopech Relievers Alex Colome Kelvin Herrera Steve Cishek Aaron Bummer Jace Fry Evan Marshall Jimmy Cordero Carson Fulmer Ross Detwiler Starting 9 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Yoan Moncada 3B 3. Jose Abreu 1B 4. Yasmani Grandal C 5. Edwin Encarnacion DH 6. Eloy Jimenez LF 7. Nomar Mazara RF 8. Luis Robert CF 9. Leury Garcia 2B Bench James McCann (C) Zack Collins (C) Danny Mendick (INF) Adam Engel (OF) Cheslor Cuthbert (UT)
  12. The White Sox have room to add 16 more names. Zack Burdi, Matt Foster, Bernardo Flores, Seby Zavala, Micker Adolfo and Blake Rutherford are all on the 40 man and not on the initial 44. Some others who seem like options for the next 16: Luis Gonzalez, Gavin Sheets, Jake Burger, Jonathan Stiever, Garrett Crochet, Kodi Medeiros, Jacob Lindgren. That leaves these guys unaccounted for right now: Jaycob Brugman, Daniel Palka, Alex McRae, Adalberto Mejia, Bryan Mitchell, Brady Lail. Jared Kelley, Matthew Thompson and Andrew Dalquist could be options as well
  13. He means if they went over. They could’ve gone 5% over which is like $380K and then paid a 75% overage tax on that amount. They didn’t do that this year. Honestly though, this draft only cost Reinsdorf $360K right now. Rest of the bonus is deferred
  14. Auburn southpaw Bailey Horn was the 3rd best player in the Sox draft class. They signed him for $150K. I wrote about him here: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/28/white-sox-give-fifth-rounder-bailey-horn-third-biggest-signing-bonus-of-their-2020-draft/
  15. This is pretty much what I'm looking at for today. The full 40 man roster will be part of the 60 player pool. I'm guessing Lambert goes on 45 day DL whenever that's allowed. Seby Zavala and Jose Ruiz could have 40 man spots in jeopardy. These are the options in my opinion for the other 20 players. Position Players Nick Madrigal Andrew Vaughn Gavin Sheets Luis Gonzalez Jake Burger Cheslor Cuthbert Nicky Delmonico Daniel Palka Andrew Romine Carlos Perez Jaycub Brugman Yolbert Sanchez Pitchers Codi Heuer Tyler Johnson Jonathan Stiever Garrett Crochet Will Kincanon Jared Kelley Andrew Dalquist Matthew Thompson Jacob Lindgren Drew Anderson Ross Detwiler Tayron Guerrero Brady Lail Alex McRae Kodi Medeiros Adalberto Mejia Bryan Mitchell
  16. Does anyone really care that much? This idea never really moved the meter for me. I think the movie is terrible though.
  17. This isn't actually the truth though so, no. When was it denied? I've heard similar to Danny. He never reported that it was happening. He said that the White Sox are planning on having fans in the stands this year that's true. So are the Cubs. The governor is allowing it at 20% capacity. The mayor is not as of now. They won't have games for 4 weeks though. If Illinois' numbers stay where they are and Lightfoot allows it, the Sox will absolutely let 8K people into the ballpark as another revenue stream. One month from now, filling a stadium in Illinois at 1/5 capacity won't seem as crazy as it one month ago.
  18. 1. Robert 2. Kopech 3. Watching Yoan Moncada play baseball
  19. The rumor is that he was going at 13 to San Francisco if the Sox didn't take him. He didn't really have any incentive to agree to an underslot deal.
  20. They didn't have to. I think 5% over was like $388K. That's why I was expecting a better player in round 3 and 4. They could've easily signed 3 guys for $150K or so instead of what they did. They needed to make sure they had the bonus slots for Kelley though I was suppose.
  21. There was nothing to worry about in this case. The Sox met his asking price prior to draft. Has been a done deal.
  22. Jared Kelley signed for $3 million and Bailey Horn is getting $150K. The White Sox saved Reinsdorf $7K and didn't go over their pool. I'm sure he's pleased.
  23. Josh Norris of Baseball America joined us recently. We talked about the White Sox draft, some thoughts on expanded fall league and Baseball America's top 30 list which includes lots of young guys: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/24/futuresox-podcast-ft-josh-norris-of-baseball-america/
  24. We talked to Garrett Crochet on the podcast this week. He was very good. Lots of good stuff in here: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/26/futuresox-podcast-ft-lhp-garrett-crochet/
  25. The players do not get a year of service unless they play the 61/66 days. For example, if a player plays in 40/60 games, that player would receive .66 of 1 season of service. Anyone who stays in player pool all year, and doesn't play in any games, won't receive service time. It's the 40 man roster plus 20 additional names. Guys can be removed from player pool but they can't be added again once they're removed.
