  1. Nobody else has much more than that. I've heard people say he wanted like $4-$5 million. There's no chance anyone can do that.
  2. Heyman said that's unlikely which makes me believe the owners think they'd win a grievance.
  3. This was already known. Bonus pools stayed flat from the previous year. The White Sox are giving $1.5 million to Norge Vera. They're also giving like $1.8 million to 6 players that I confirmed earlier this year. Victor Quezada DR 3B $525K Manual Guariman V C $475K Dario Barrero V OF $350K Adrian Gil V RHP $250K Gabriel Rodriguez $100K Antonio Jimenez $90K. They should have just over $2 million in their pool unless they alter agreements or push guys to the next period.
  4. For sure. MLB just wants to get to the post-season ASAP. It's where the owners make the most money and they think they can come up with a bubble plan if necessary to get the games played.
  5. I'm surprised that the players are going to turn this down honestly. It doesn't make sense for them. They think they should get more than 60 games prorated in exchange for expanded playoffs, etc. I don't think they'll win a grievance though. If they agree to a deal: players get 60 games full prorated (37% of salary), universal DH (extra jobs), two years of expanded playoffs (some money for playoffs), keep some of the advance from March, not allowed to file a grievance. If they don't agree to deal: Rob Manfred imposes season around 54 games (33% of salary), no universal DH, regular playoffs (players don't get paid), return the advance from March, they can file a grievance that owners didn't negotiate in good faith. The owners were worried about this grievance. After the players most recent proposal though, I think they'd lose the grievance. MLB has consistently said season must end on September 27th due to COVID-19 concerns. I think that's mostly bullshit and it's about FOX tv deal. The players proposed 70 games though which was scheduled to go longer than September 27th which is the date that MLB's health experts recommended. I think by the owners turning down that deal and not countering, it allows them to win a grievance based on the fact that players weren't being reasonable by trying to go longer than what MLB's medical experts have proposed. MLBPA must feel otherwise. They have to think they can win this grievance. I think the owners would cancel the season in that case though.
  6. Because their citizens listened to experts and getting sports back is the reward. We haven't done that in this country.
  7. Exactly. There will be positive tests. This is why lots and lots of testing will be key in all of this.
  8. This isn't true. In a lost season, 40 man players will accrue a year of service time. If they were to play 100 games though and Kopech played in 70, he'd get 70% of a year of service. That was agreed to in March.
  9. Multiple Sox guys have been working out at Camelback this whole time.
  10. He's good for the sport. He gets players what they're worth.
  11. The league should just play every game in New York and Chicago now. I remember a month ago when I said Chicago would be a hub city for the NHL and people thought I was nuts.
  12. Is it counting this year? If so it'd be: Zack Collins, Zack Burdi, Jimmy Lambert (Hansen, Call, Fisher), Jake Burger, Gavin Sheets, Luis Gonzalez, Lincoln Henzman, Tyler Johnson, Nick Madrigal, Steele Walker, Konnor Pilkington, Lency Delgado, Jonathan Stiever, Andrew Vaughn, Matthew Thompson, Andrew Dalquist and James Beard. The point is that using the first 5 rounds is stupid. If you're going to use WAR, just do it based on all 40 rounds since teams don't take players in order anyway. The drafts don't appear to be great from 2016-2017, but there are numerous future big leaguers in this 5 year span.
  13. My guess would be Heuer is on the taxi squad initially but ready to go whenever. If the rules for this season are 65 games and expanded playoffs, the White Sox should be all hands on deck.
  14. There's talk that MLB will put together a prospect league to replace its traditional Arizona Fall League. What could those teams look like? Sean Williams broke down how the White Sox could measure up earlier this week: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/16/taking-a-look-at-a-potential-all-white-sox-arizona-fall-league-roster/
  15. Have you heard Rosemont because I've heard North Central College? Also, the extended fall league the way it was initially described sounds awesome. Every team would have their own "prospect team" during an extended AFL season. It would be pretty cool.
  16. The MLB playoffs are all heavily predicated on variance anyway. Instead of 10 teams having a chance to win a title, it'll be 16.
  17. I think it's absolutely permanent
  18. Wouldn't necessarily be 2nd place in any division. It would likely be 3 division winners and 5 best records. That makes more sense.
  19. See ya.
  20. Absolutely. Marco Paddy is tight with Fernando Tatis Sr. If there's an international draft though, might not matter.
  21. There is another one coming, yes.
  22. For sure. You'll never land the Wander Franco's of the world with the strategy the Sox use though. They landed Fernando Tatis so it can happen, but they limit their ability to land talent. I'm thinking there will be an international draft in 2022. While that should help the White Sox, it also hurts a tad because Fernando Tatis' younger brother is the best of the bunch, and White Sox are favorites for him.
  23. It's part of it. Reinsdorf is very much opposed to signing kids at 13-14. Everyone else is doing it though. It's gross but they're behind because of it. He doesn't spend at the top of the market on free agents but he also doesn't spend on 16-year-olds. It's pretty bad business.
  24. This article is great for anyone interested in the shenanigans that take place in Latin America: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2020/06/16/mlb-international-free-agents-deals-underage-prospects/5334172002/ MLB and the MLBPA have allowed this exploitation to happen for years. Not allowing the trading of money and pushing the period back 6 months, doesn't make this any easier for many prospects and families.
