  1. Yeah I think they'll definitely be over their pool.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Does anyone even like Dunn? Or is it just because he was picked high its worth the risk? The only reason Dunn would interest me is if I could convince someone higher to take Dunn + 7 so the Bulls could move up in the draft. Otherwise Id actually rather get 7 + Levine + Shabazz and more picks. I just feel like Dunn youre paying a premium for and Im not really a fan. I loved him in college but he wasn't good last year.
  3. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) The fact that he wasn't, and that he was universally ranked lower than he was drafted tells me he won't get overslot from many teams, especially whopping $600K overslot. I think this could really impact our ability to sign Skoug. Skoug is signing. Sheets isn't impacting anything. Teams don't take guys in the top 10 rounds that aren't signing.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) I feel as if the Wolves are the only team potentially serious enough about getting Butler. The question is...would the Wolves do Wiggins, Dunn, and their pick for Butler. I think that would be my minimum required threshold for getting Jimmy. I feel at least the floor isn't bad (cause Wiggins is a good player...not Jimmy Buckets...but very solid). Dunn sucked last year, but Bulls liked him and young PG's can take time to develop. The pick isn't super high, but you have a shot at getting another quality player. I'm not in love with the deal...but if Bulls really wanted to move another direction...I'd be okay with it. I couldn't do a deal centered around Levine, Dunn, and the pick (or even future picks). Wiggins? No chance. I'd do Lavine, Dunn, and #7 for Butler. The Bulls have 2 options here: They can trade Jimmy Butler tonight and rebuild or they can plan on keeping him and paying him $230 million during his age 30-35 seasons. Those are the choices.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) CSN Chicago‏Verified account @CSNChicago 33s34 seconds ago More .@vgoodwill reports the Bulls are actively shopping Jimmy Butler: "It's either Boston or Cleveland but he's going" - http://bit.ly/2snIxXP Vincent was on with Bernstein and Goff and thinks Butler is definitely getting moved. Says there's too much smoke this time and multiple sources and people he talks to are saying they are dealing him. They don't want him with Hoiberg and they don't want to pay him $240 million
  6. Earlier tonight, Matt previewed Advanced Rookie League Great Falls Voyagers that started play tonight: http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2017/...falls-voyagers/
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Or they make it something like Schwarber, Almora and someone like Clifton. Struggling players for each other. Can forget Eloy Jimenez or Happ. Baez is probably more valuable to the Cubs now anyway, fwiw. Cubs' fans would say it's an overpay, Sox fans not enough to move the meter. The Cubs aren't trading Kyle Schwarber. For anyone.
  8. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) The Celtics should trade some picks (including next year's nets pick, but not this year's) and trade for George. They also appear to be slight favorites to get Hayward right now. A lineup of Thomas, Fultz, Hayward, George, and Horford could beat the cavs I think and give the Warriors a run for their money. George likely wouldn't stay in Boston though.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Haha, that hypothetical Astros offer is laughable! If the Astros offered Kyle Tucker, Franklin Perez, and Yordan Alvarez, I'd do that instantly.
  10. I don't think I'd trade Quintana to Astros without Kyle Tucker. That's a deal breaker for me. Another team can and will beat their offer without him involved.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) Good post...but believe (for now) teams will shy away from offering super elite prospects like Torres...instead trying to acquire him for 3-4 players with two being MILB top 35-75. Super elite prospects were never being traded for Quintana though. I always thought he'd land a top 30 guy, another top 100, an org top 10, and a flyer type.
  12. I was hoping that the White Sox would draft more high school players and go with longer-term upside plays. With that being said, it's tough to do where they were picking and I understand why they chose the method that they did. They are insulating the system with good players and it makes sense. They also were pretty successful according to the major publications: MLB Pipeline: #16 Jake Burger #48 Evan Skoug #60 Gavin Sheets #97 Tyler Johnson #106 Luis Gonzalez #162 Lincoln Henzman #189 Will Kincanon Baseball America: #20 Jake Burger #65 Gavin Sheets #78 Evan Skoug #86 Luis Gonzalez #151 Lincoln Henzman #155 Tyler Johnson #244 Kade McClure #349 Will Kincanon Keith Law: #21 Jake Burger #68 Gavin Sheets #73 Luis Gonzalez #86 Evan Skoug #97 Tyler Johnson

  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) Strikeouts are a huge problem in baseball and I'm glad the Sox are going away from it. I don't care what the statties want to say about a strikeout not being worse then a hit by ball...it is far less entertaining and makes the game slower. More strikeouts, mean less contact, means less plays / action as a whole. I completely disagree that they are a huge problem.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) After reading bleacher report article we should reread Grant Bizbee's sbnation article he wrote prior to the draft evaluating each teams draft. But really the Sox weren't really in a position to be bold. Teams in top 3 with a comp pick can be bold. This is a great point. It's tough to save too much at #11. That pick value was $4.2 million. I bet they sign Burger for like $3.4 or $3.5 million. Sheets and Gonzalez likely get full slot. The savings are going to Kincanon and Skoug.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) In the back of my mind I wonder if the Robert signing is forcing the team to try to save a few bucks in the draft by not picking the high dollar HS players, in general. No that's not the case. I don't really think they saved much. It's hard to do so when picking 11th. I would think Burger gets something like $3.4 million. That saves about $800K. I bet they use the savings throughout to sign Kincanon and Skoug for overslot. Hostetler mentioned that they were likely going HS in round 3 and that player got picked ahead of them. He said it happened a few other times too. He could obviously be lying but there's no reason to offer that up.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) I missed that. Interesting. He said that he could likely handle Kannapolis but might need some seasoning initially in Great Falls. I bet he finishes the year in Kannapolis and begins next year at Winston Salem. Middle of 2019 trajectory.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) Here are some details on White Sox 2nd round selection Gavin Sheets http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2017/...h-overall-pick/ Can someone pin this topic? I don't know how to do that. Thanks.

  20. I really don't see the Fulmer comparisons with Bukauskas other than stature. Fulmer didn't throw strikes in college. J.B. is a 20 year old Junior that has started in the ACC for 3 solid seasons. He has great stuff. I think he's more along the lines of Lance McCullers and Marcus Stroman than Fulmer. I'd be fine with that pick if the bats they like aren't on the board. I'd be down with them taking Evan White for a slight discount though and I'd definitely take Evan White over Pavin Smith.
  21. I'll say they end up with either Jeren Kendall or JB Bukauskas at #11 and Florida HS SS Chris Seise at #49.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Another bad game for Burdi. He's nowhere near as ready as they thought He has a 2.19 FIP, a BABIP of .382 and is averaging 13.5 K/9. I think he'll be fine.
  23. I think Caulfield was actually arguing in favor of Rodon wasn't he?
  24. Nelson Acosta is the most well regarded pitcher on the Sox DSL team. Here's a tweet from raBBIt on him from last year. Brian Bilek‏ @BrianBilek_ Nelson Acosta went 6 innings with 10Ks and four hits for the #WhiteSox Dominican Summer League team. After today: 37/1 K/BB in 33 innings.
  25. Rodon's stuff was really good today and he looked healthy. Struck out the side in the 1st on 10 pitches. Very promising
