Something like this with the first few picks would be ideal for me: #11: Jeren Kendall OF Vanderbilt #49: Chris Seise SS HS (FL) #87: Daniel Tillo LHP Iowa CC #117 Lincoln Henzman RHP Louisville (if they really want this guy, hopefully they'd wait until round 4 rather than 3).

This is what Eric Longenhagen of fan graphs had to say in his mock draft: 11. Chicago AL – Jeren Kendall, CF, Vanderbilt If any of the three toolsy outfielders (Adell, Beck, Kendall) or UVA hitters are here, I think they’re the pick. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-2017-mock-draft/

If the Sox take Jeren Kendall at #11, I hope they go High School at #49. Could be any number of options: RHP Steven Jennings, LHP Jacob Heatherly, RHP Hagen Danner, SS Chris Seise, SS Jeter Downs, 3B Mark Vientos, 3B Ryan Vilade, OF Drew Waters.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) Guys like Nate Jones and Addison Reed in the later rounds are the ideal...obviously, Hector Santiago, Petricka, etc. Kanhle was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 5th round. Swarzak was 2nd round, 61st pick by the Twins, for another example. Nate Jones was a 5th rounder and drafted as a starter. Reed was a 2nd round reliever. Petricka was a starter as well.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) Also Sox have had a former Phillies National Crosschecker join the scouting team solely as the national crosschecker for relief arms. Sox speculstely looking to grab Lincoln Henzman in the 3rd. Henzman's people think he's more of a 2nd rounder though. This is what MLBpipeline.com has to say about Lincoln Henzman. He's their #163 prospect. Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Cutter: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45 Henzman overcame Tommy John surgery as a high school junior in 2013 to make an immediate impact as a freshman reliever at Louisville two years later. After an inconsistent 2016 season, he turned down the Mariners as a sophomore-eligible 31st-rounder and has taken over from White Sox first-rounder Zack Burdi as the Cardinals' closer. Henzman tied for the NCAA Division I lead with 16 saves entering the regional playoffs. When Henzman keeps his 90-95 mph fastball down in the zone, it's almost impossible for hitters to lift. His changeup has similar action, behaving like a splitter, and grades as a plus pitch at times. His cutter climbs into the upper 80s and is an effective third offering. Henzman blitzes the bottom of the strike zone and has permitted just one homer in three college seasons. He could move quickly through the Minors as a reliever, but he also had success as a starter in the Cape Cod League last summer and could get a shot in that role. He has enough pitches to work out of the rotation, though he'd have to prove he could maintain his velocity with a heavier workload.

Sox could be 24-31 after today and 2-4 remainder of trip makes them 26-35. It's starting to go according to plan.

Didn't like the Burdi pick last year either though.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) Talking with some people to try and figure it out, but I think Sox take it very slow with Robert this year. Reasoning is not necessarily for his own development but with consideration of the tax ramifications of his bonus. Where he plays affects, which country, which state and how many days will affect how much he takes home. I've heard similar. I thought for sure he'd play for AZL or Great Falls to end this season though. The plan should be for him to start in Kannapolis next year and I don't think that happens if they spends rest of season in DSL.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Going to need to beat "Luis Mieses" in my head when looking at DSL scores. 1/4 with an RBI for Luis. 1/2 with a double for Josue Guerrero. Where'd you get stats? milb.com?

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) Do you guys agree with this assessment of Pavin Smith, in this just published article linked below? What am I missing? I don't understand why anyone wouldn't be overwhelmingly impressed with a college hitter, with his rare combination of plate discipline and power, especially from the left side. I realize that he doesn't play a premium position, but you probably know how much I value middle of the order, left handed hitters. It's a lot easier to fill holes in the lineup, with average hitters, who provide plus defense. Big offensive production is harder to come by and very costly through free agency, even if it has to come from first base, or DH. Although he's expected to go in the first round, there doesn't seem to be a consensus regarding exactly where. Would you take him, if he were available, at #11: http://www.athleticsnation.com/2017/6/2/15...kland-as-rumors I think he goes top 10. I'd be underwhelmed with that pick personally. He doesn't have enough power for me. I need my 1B to mash and he just doesn't. He'll hit and he won't strikeout very much but he's probably a 15-20 HR guy. I think you go for upside and guys that might be able to play a premium position when you pick high. Sox can find a 1B when it's time to win. That's just my take though.

Here's the DSL roster for those interested: http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?cid=633 Some interesting names on this roster and some interesting names not on it. Recent signings: IF Amado Nunez, C Jhoandro Alfaro, C Carlos Perez, RHP Edinxon Arias, OF Franklin Reyes should all be stateside for AZL or Great Falls this year. Looking at this roster: 2014 RHP Nelson Acosta headlines the pitching staff, he was really good last year and could see time in the AZL as well. Jenderson Caraballo ($350K), Ramon Pineda (younger bro of Michael Pineda), and Brayan Herrera were all 2017 signings. Yender Silva signed for $100K in 2015. Catchers: Ulises Martinez signed in 2015 for $50K and Kleyder Sanchez was a 2017 signing Infielders: Harvin Mendoza was one of team's top signings in 2015, Brayant Nova got $100K to sign in 2015 and Santo Vasquez was a $350K signing in 2015 Outfielders: Luis Robert is the big ticket and he'll likely move to the AZL or Great Falls once those seasons start. Josue Guerrero was next biggest 2017 signing at $1.1 million and he could also play in the AZL this year. Luis Mieses and Anderson Comas are also 2017 signing period signings for $428K and $425K respectively.

QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 09:11 PM) - Kendall - Pratto - Faedo - Peterson - Smith - DL Hall You could swap Smith for Haseley, but I assume they assume he will be gone. I'm also really hoping they are at least considering an underslot deal for like, Hiura or Warmoth. Actually based on his comments i'm gonna edit this. They're guaranteed one of the top 11 guys so there's really no reason for it to be Pratto, Faedo, Peterson or Hall IMO. I could be wrong though. I would guess that it's: Haseley, Kendall, Smith, Bukauskus, Adell, and Gore.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) I think he'll get better. Does he need to get a ton better? He's already very good.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) So is the thinking that for us to get Hasely there would be a run on college pitchers in the top ten? Or a run on the HS outfielders? Beck, Adell, and Kendall likely need to go top 10 for Haseley to fall to Sox. Or Shane Baz or Faedo or someone unexpected needs to go top 10. Not likely IMO.
-
The White Sox are guaranteed to get a pretty good player. All 4 OF's (Haseley, Beck, Adell, Kendall), Pavin Smith, Royce Lewis, Hunter Greene, Brendan McKay, Kyle Wright, JB Bukauskus, and Mackenzie Gore. They are guaranteed one of those players.

After seeing the reaction to Jeren Kendall and Jordon Adell, I'm convinced that if Luis Robert were in this class, Sox fans would want Jake Burger instead.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Looking at the descriptions of Kendall, I hear Mike Cameron. No? Yes? Jacoby Ellsbury is the comp most associated with him.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) In a world where an OF putting up .404/.505/.843 with an OPS of 1.348 and a 22% K rate in the same conference is considered a comp round pick. Wait what? Brent Rooker is almost 2 years older than Jeren Kendall and is a likely 1B. Jeren Kendall strikes out a lot. He strikes out too much to be frank. If he didn't strikeout this much though, he'd be the #1 pick. He will be a plus defender in CF with a plus arm and 70-80 speed. He also has plus bat speed and power.
-
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) This is exactly the type of player the White Sox have trouble developing. And if they continue to not be able to develop players like this then the rebuild will be deemed a failure and they have far bigger problems anyway.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) It's impossible to have a legitimate opinion on whether or not to trade Quintana without knowing the offers on the table -- both during this past offseason and during the coming trade deadline season. That said, we DO need more prospects. We have a lot of good ones now, but not nearly enough to account for attrition. As much I love Quintana, we're not to the point where we can start looking at current stars and realistically expecting them to be stars for our next contender. We very much still need to be in asset collection mode if we're going to do this the right way. This is a great post

We have the prospect profile on Jordon Adell coming today. After reading the reaction to Jeren Kendall, I'm not expecting the reaction to Adell to be very positive
