  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) The Sox are silly for waiting 3 more weeks to make any moves for a pen arm and bat. They should get a bat during the all star break. Yes Morneau is going to be ready but that's not enough. I'm sure they're trying. I'm not sure they have enough to outbid other teams for Bruce, CarGo, or Reddick. All of those guys would also require Eaton to move back to CF. I would target Steve Pearce and Derek Norris and get the pitching help from within with Fulmer, Burdi, and Goldberg.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) f*** the haters. Save situations: He's 23/25. Just 3 earned runs, ERA of 1.04. WHIP of 1.00, opponents hitting .187/.257/.242/.499 (so much for that always making it interesting bulls*** too). 11.1 k/9 ERA of 8.71 in non save situations but hey, that's not why we pay him the big bucks. Stop the hate. You're wrong. Well said. I'm stealing this for twitter. Thanks.
  3. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) The reality is that in this the 22nd year of the existence of the AL Central, with small market Cleveland well on its way to wining this division for the eighth time, you combine that with how many times the other two small market teams have won the division, and you'll see that the large market White Sox, with its resources advantage, has been aced a whopping 15 times by a small market team over that 22 year period. 15 division titles between Cleveland, Minnesota, and KC, and just three for the Sox. This despite the Sox being the only team in the bunch with a sweetheart lease deal in place that allows them to keep far more of its revenues than those other teams can. It's clear what those other teams lack in $$$ resources they make up for in superior front office capital running those organizations. So yes, the reality is more of the same until that time when a change at the top finally occurs. And 2 of those teams have done the only thing that matters which is win a world series. Neither of them is the Indians. And one of them was put together by our current management team that is in place.
  4. QUOTE (captain54 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) You called me out for being irrational and negative when I mentioned the BP as a whole cant be judged by a single stretch of good numbers that skewed the stats as far as getting a true pic of the quality of the pen Now you are saying Robertson can't be judged by a single stretch of bad numbers..that it doesn't reflect the quality of his overall performance. So which one is it? Pick a lane, man It's not a stretch. It's one appearance. Take away that outing in Kansas City and nobody is talking about this. I'd trade Robertson in the offseason and go with Burdi and Jones because I don't believe in paying relievers but Robertson is pretty damn good.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) If a team overpaid for him he'd be gone. I disagree. They want to keep him.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Hopefully this is just a way to grab him an extra rest and manage his innings load. Fulmer? This makes sense.
  7. That's a weird injury. So he misses 1 start?
  8. JJ Stankevitz ‏@JJStankevitz 2m2 minutes ago Chicago, IL #WhiteSox place Carlos Rodon on 15-day DL with sprained left wrist 0 retweets 0 likes So weird....
  9. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 12h12 hours ago @whitesox if Quintana doesn't get Kimbrel's spot let's go TP Ned Yost's house Law has been really stumping for Quintana lately
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 12:15 AM) Oh I know I was just asking hypothetically obviously. They'd get an absolute haul for Jose Quintana or he would not be going anywhere.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) Why not? They're not drawing fans with this .500 flirtation. They are not a playoff contender. Just start dumping guys we don't need. Dump Robertson, Avila, Navarro, Lawrie, Frazier, Melky, Duke, Jennings and Quintana if you must and see what kinda young team you can build from that. Because they are going for it again next year as well and they'd have to replace all those guys.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:32 PM) What kind of package for Quintana and Frazier? The Sox aren't selling.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) 1. TOR +11 (7 straight wins) 2. BOS +9 3. HOU +6 1 1/2 GB 4. DET +3 3 GB 5. CHW/KCR +2 3 1/2 GB (both teams currently losing, KC by 2 late) 7. SEA +1 4 GB 8. NYY -2 5 1/2 GB Getting close to being able to stick a fork in the Yankees. The Mets are REALLY in desperate need of starting pitchers with Syndergaard struggling with the bone spur issue in his elbow. Cespedes also hurt his quad. Harvey out for the year with thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. Trade partner? Semien hit his 19th homer, homers in two consecutive games now. The Sox aren't selling
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Nope. They're going after vet pgs for the MLE. Lawson, Vazquez, Jack, etc. I'd like Vazquez for this team. Where'd you see this at?
  15. Charlotte Knights ‏@KnightsBaseball 33s34 seconds ago ROSTER MOVE: RHP Ryan Webb signed by @whitesox & added to the #CLTKnights. RHP Matt Lollis assigned to @BhamBarons. I wondered if the Sox would have interest in Ryan Webb.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) You're probably right. I don't think Fulmer should be considered untouchable . Cleveland also could target Lucroy since Yan Gomes has sucked bad this year and has more minor league bullets to offer. For the Sox to get Lucroy, Fulmer may be the only thing we have the Brewers would be interested in. I don't think Fulmer is untouchable either. I just don't know if I'd move him for 1.5 years of control. I'd rather target Derek Norris.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) According to fangraphs Quintana has the second highest WAR for pitchers in the AL at 3.1. So theoretically he is the second best pitcher in the AL by this measure. Here is the conceptual problem I have with WAR. Supposedly, WAR is Wins Above Replacement where the replacement is any guy from AAA. Let's use a decent pitcher like Scott Carroll. This stat tells me that the White Sox will only have 3 more win from the contributions of Quintana as opposed to Carroll. Common sense wise that just doesn't make sense between a AAA pitcher and the second best pitcher in the AL. Quintana is actually tied for 1st with Kluber at 3.1 fWAR. Kluber has the better FIP. Q has the better ERA. Both pitchers are better than Estrada though. It's not true that the replacement is any guy from AAA. Carroll over the course of a season starting would most likely be a -WAR player.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) Brewers need a 3rd baseman bad since they have to rely on Will Middlebrooks and even Jake Elmore. If the Sox want to be bold they could offer Brett Lawrie or Saladino . If Brewers took Lawrie ,Saladino probably become starting 2nd baseman. Of course doubtful Lawrie alone would do it.Maybe also offer Trey M.,Courtney Hawkins. Lucroy is signed through 2016 with an option for 2017 and is still cheap . Lawrie only signed through 2016 so Sox would be gaining the extra year and better player hence the need to give the Brewers some controllable pieces also. Saladino isn't arbitration eligible until 2019 so maybe Brewers would prefer him over Lawrie. I doubt the Brewers want Lawrie. They drafted him and traded him. Saladino is just a guy. It would cost Fulmer + for Lucroy

  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) His go ahead hit, he was celebrating as he hit it but them had to run as it looked like Inciarte may have a diving shot at it. He hit a meaningless HR a couple of weeks ago as they were getting smoked and point at the Cubs dugout and smirked. He's a showboat. LOL I'd take him on the White Sox in a heartbeat. I actually think the Cubs team is extremely likable.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) He's also injured, so no thanks. Ready to come off the DL after the break.

  23. I know the White Sox will be mentioned with Reddick, Bruce, etc in the coming weeks. If they miss out and even if they don't, Steve Pearce would be a great acquisition and probably won't cost a ton in return. He can play the OF and DH. He'd be the perfect platoon partner for Morneau. It's only 48 at-bats vs LHP but Pearce has 5 homers, a .514 wOBA, and a 233 wRC+. Overall, Pearce has a wRC+ of 153 with a .933 OPS. He'd be a great addition IMO.
  24. I think the Bulls considered a full tear it down rebuild. This would have required trading Jimmy Butler. It didn't seem like they were getting enough in return for Jimmy to deal him. With this being the case, they would have been picking in the late lottery anyway. They would still be trying to sign free agents the next 2 off seasons and nobody would be coming to a bad team with nothing to look forward to. Wade and Rondo are stopgaps but I'm not willing to say that it doesn't get them closer to a title. A free agent or two is much more likely to come to the Bulls with Wade in tow and it sounds like Butler has been recruiting his ass off. Wade coming does more to the Bulls image in a positive way than it helps on the court. So yes, being the 6th seed in the East, with Wade/Rondo/Butler definitely puts them in a better position to sign a max player than going with just Butler and picking 11th in the draft does. They just weren't willing to tear it down completely because they would not have been bad enough next year to make it worthwhile. And they like playoff revenue.
