Corey Zangari was terrible at Kannapolis. His start since being sent to Great Falls is promising though in 40 plate appearances: .324/.375/.676 with 3 HR and 10 RBI. He does have a crazy high .500 BABIP and a K% of 40% but a great .351 ISO with a wRc+ of 151.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:57 AM) http://www.nbadraftroom.com/p/2017-nba-mock-draft.html Looks like a lot of first and second year collegiate players...not seeing all these potential franchise-altering superstars yet, guess we have to let the NCAA season play out first. Class of incoming Freshman is really good with: Josh Jackson and Harry Giles leading the way

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:07 AM) Yesterday we posted the in-person reports from Winston-Salem. Today, here are the 7 interviews I got, with some of the key names in Winston-Salem. Y'all will focus on Burdi, but make sure to read Bautista and Lowry too, at least. Some good tidbits in both of those. I think Jordan Stephens will be a top 10 prospect in the system within the next year.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) KC Johnson on the Score this morning said that nothing he has heard or seen would indicate the Bulls are going to give any large contracts to anyone in FA. They are gearing up and clearing a ton of space for two years from now. Cant Jimmy opt out two years from now? I think we'll see short deals for guys like Brandon Jennings and Evan Turner. Allows them to semi-compete in the East and possibly deal those guys in season if they wanted to.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 06:02 AM) Arodys Vizcaino Alex Colome Mark Melancon Fernando Rodney Brad Ziegler A.J. Ramos Jeremy Jeffress David Phelps And the price we're willing to pay, if anything...? Assuming the White Sox are waiting on Morneau and/or the deadline trade market to heat up...and that they're also kicking the tires on more back-end starting rotation candidates (Fausto Carmona, come on down!), would you give up more top 10 pieces (not named Fulmer) to solidify the currently weak bullpen and possibly even help turn it back into a strength? Or a Brett Myers/2012-like move, where you're not going for one of the best performers, rather a veteran with a long history and a decent-sized contract his team wants to dump in order to save money for 2017? I would add Sean Doolittle and Will Smith to this mix

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Himes' work in the late 1980s was phenomenal. And let's not forget his drafts: McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, Fernandez. After Himes: Ruffcorn, Pearson, Christman, Clemons, Mark Johnson (woo), Jeff Liefer (woo woo) etc., etc., etc. Over the next 20 years, the only first rounders who amounted to a thing were Gio and Rowand, and they were supplementals. Chris Sale stopped the streak. But it's one big happy family. Sale, Anderson, Rodon, Fulmer, Collins, Burdi should be a decent run though.

Off-day musings: 1/3 of the season done, 2/3 to go.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Are the Sox any worse off sending Coats down and giving Davidson a whirl at DH? Avi isn't getting the job done, maybe time to throw more s*** at the wall and see if it sticks? The team seems pretty intent on waiting for Morneau to get back to be the big bat they add, so the bottom of the order roster shuffle seems like the best way to try addressing it in the mean time. Coats is just sitting there on the bench doing absolutely nothing, get someone up here that might contribute something. I don't think they are content with waiting for Morneau at all. There just aren't any deals to make. Not many sellers and the ones that are will hold out a bit longer. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) You mean last year? He can't finish at the rim, he can't rebound, he can't defend, he can't play the 3 or the 5, and he can't rebound. He also fouls too much, tries to bail himself out with flopping and has not stopped pump faking. He's 25, he's played 2 years. He started over 1/3 of the season last year. If he was going to improve he would have done it last year, the year where he shot 40% from 2. You're right. I'm sure there's absolutely no chance that he improves or gets any better.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) He isn't. Taj/Portis give you much greater flexibility than Mirotic/Portis. Mirotic can certainly not be on floor same time as McDermott. Niko is one of the biggest disappointments as a bull for me since Jay Williams. We don't know what Mirotic is though. You've decided. Doesn't mean anyone else has. Taj has some value but barely any value to the Bulls going forward. Time to cash in.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) They all come from the NL. Once he has a 1 year of facing AL pitching maybe he'll be better. At some point you have to ignore every stat and look at history. Few NL players have success in this organization. Eaton has but only spent 2 years in the NL. There's a pattern that maybe says it's time to stop. Thome, Dye, and Podsednik were all pretty good. Dye and Thome spent time in the AL prior though. Melky is fine and he's been in both leagues. Case by case basis. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) I'd rather trade Mirotic but oh well. See what happens in ATL with horford, if they lose him they may be a good candidate. Taj has no future in Chicago though and just turned 31. They need to find out if Mirotic is a piece going forward.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in FutureSox Board
Ben Badler at Baseball America dropped their top 30 international prospects today: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...vO7alBk8R52r.97 The White Sox are not linked to anyone. White Sox are rumored to be signing 9 prospects this year with one large signing. OF Luis Mieses for 500k is the only prospect I've seen linked to the Sox so far. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) It is all about the return. I really don't even care about the return. Bulls aren't winning anything next year and I'd rather have the minutes go to Mirotic and Portis. I just hope they don't deal for someone where they take on salary in future years.

The Bulls are trying to trade Taj Gibson which is a positive development in my opinion.

Bulls are interested in Evan Turner according to the Sporting News' Sean Deveney.

User Actions Following Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes Zach Putnam and #WhiteSox weighing options. Surgery is one possibility, according to GM Rick Hahn. This is not good. I expect to see Zach Burdi soon. Brian Clark and Matt Cooper being fast-tracked as well apparently.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) What was the last pitch that he struck out the guy on. Looked like a curve, I guess it could have been his changeup. I love the kids that were laughing at his 92 MPH slider.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Derrick saying he picked #25 for Chicago (honoring his Simeon roots and Benji Wilson) He didn't say it though. They were trying to get him to talk about Ben Wilson. He didn't do it.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Not always. At the trade deadline, the competition is other teams selling staring pitching as well. In the offseason the competition is almost every teamwilling to trade pitching as well as the free agents. Fo example, it seems like the market for Sale or Q will be limited because it is going to take a lot to get either one. If Boston decides they need another staring pitcher for the pennant chase this year, they might trade off assets that would take them out of the market for another trade in the off-season. There are more teams looking to add in the offseason than at midseason though. It'd be a way bigger market in the offseason.
