2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Those two years where Rose was out, Noah put the team on his back. Those teams had no business finishing where they did. Noah was, when healthy, one of, if not, the best center in the league (please note, part of that is because the league doesn't have many quality centers). Star defender, excellent rebounder and excellent passing big men (one of the best ever). Yes, outside of his passing, the rest of his offensive game was weak. He is a great passer. How many supposed Defensive Players of the Year got worked by Nene in the playoffs though?

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) 3 spots lower. This is so hilariously false. He was underpaid on his last contract when he signed it. He's a great passer and energy guy. I don't like paying guys $10 million that can't score though.

Noah is probably the most overrated Bulls player ever, right? I mean he was a fan favorite but he always made a lot of coin for what he provided.

Matt Davidson getting called up
Many on this site and over at Future Sox care way too much about strikeout rate. It's like people constantly focus on it and ignore the positives with guys. It's always, "Yeah but that K rate". Kris Bryant had a 30% K rate last year in the majors and was consistently in the mid 20's in the minors. Matt Davidson obviously isn't Kris Bryant.

Blow It Up
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) This season, yes. Prior to this season, his numbers would make him a #2 on a lot of teams. This is a false statement.

Stoney and Jason vs Stoney and Hawk
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) I know we have spoke on this at nauseum, but does anybody else find watching the games at home a little bit boring? All those homers yesterday and I just kind of watched them.. when Hawk is out there I am screaming stretch! at the TV How about a 3 man booth?? I know that time with his kids is the reason hawk doesn't want to be there... so not plausible, but I really do want his calls , but not his banter. Leave that to Benneti I think the broadcast is refreshing actually.

6/29 Games
QUOTE (kingranch @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 05:34 AM) Jordan Stephens has thrown 5 straight quality starts with a 1.74 ERA in those starts One of the most underrated prospects in the system. Should get some Top 10 consideration for preseason list.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 01:33 AM) OK get rid of Lawrie and it'll be Davidson at third, Anderson at short, Saladino at second and Frazier DH. That's a start. Saladino and Davidson and Anderson have a fighting chance. Lawrie is going to hit 20 homers and play solid 2B. Good enough for me.

We should use this type of lineup often
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) 100% thumbs up to this. To make this a regular thing, though, they'd need to bring up another infielder, and send down Coats/Sands..forget which one is in Chicago and which is in Charlotte. Davidson is coming tomorrow. I'd bring up Leury and send down Avisail as well.

Projected Top 10 Prospects Post Draft/Pre July 2
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) As far as Engel goes, it would be nice to see him put up an OPS challenging 800 in AAA. At the major league level, right now....he's more similar to Jackson stats-wise, but more reminiscent of Eaton in terms of physical tools. In most organizations, that would be a 4th outfielder. As long as he can have a respectable OBP, though (let's say 315-325), he could make it as a regular. More confident in him than May, tbh. Engel can handle CF defensively though so it vaults him a bit higher than most guys. He doesn't "have to" hit much.

Matt Davidson getting called up
I would imagine that Purke goes down. I'd call up Davidson and Bourgeios or Leury and send Avi down too.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/29/2016, Shields vs Nolasco, 7:
Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 4m4 minutes ago As @Gregdavis537 pointed out, Matt Davidson is not in the lineup at Charlotte. He's hitting .476 last six games. Has .838 OPS in June. 2 retweets 1 like Davidson may be coming up.

2016-17 NHL Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) They are leaking info that he has character issues or something like that. Please. His character issues are basically that he's black and plays hockey.

Man Siera Santos is the goods. Suzannah Collins to Jen Lada to Siera Santos is quality. CSN does that right.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) Have Davidson's strikeout rates come down recently? Delmonico's not an option based on performance after Charlotte promotion, not sure about Hayes. I was GOING to say Courtney Hawkins (on a tear)...striking out 1/3 at-bats in BIRM would turn into 1/2 to 1/2.5 with the White Sox. But it would be a lot more fun than watching Garcia/Shuck or the catchers at DH. Or Coats, since they're bound and determined not to trust him with playing time. Davidson is striking out 26%. Has a .781 OPS with 10 homers. WOBA of .353 and a wRc+ of 125. He's been much better

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) I feel your pain but what other options do they have? The fact that ALL of the guys you mentioned as actually on the big league roster shows how bereft of talent the organization really is doesn't it? Mark I'd start Eaton in CF, Coats in RF and Davidson at DH. There's absolutely no reason not to try it. None.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/29/2016, Shields vs Nolasco, 7:
Why is Jason Coats on the team? I mean really? Maybe he's terrible. Maybe he's not. he's had like 20 plate appearances. Shuck and Garcia have had years worth of at-bats. Garcia has a .656 OPS and a wRc+ of 76. Shuck is even worse with a .571 and 47 wRc+. It's ridiculous.

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) Is this true? I'm not sure how the budget is run for the organization. However, could there be a scenario where JR says "here's the budget, spend how you see fit." From this KW/Hahn decides not to put as much in the INTL market and instead focuses elsewhere? No chance. If they aren't going over, Jerry is the reason. Jerry doesn't believe in paying amateur lottery tickets that much money. It's why the drafting sucked forever. Reinsdorf would rather spend that $$ on the big league club instead of on amateurs. It's why he pushed for the new slotting system. KW liked toolsy athletes and JR liked saving money. That's how you settle for the Keenyn Walker's of the world. There is now way that Hahn can decide to spend $20 million on the INTL market and pay a 100% overage without getting it cleared first.

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) The Tatis/Johnson price was rumored well before the Seattle blowup. Hahn is like his mentor re trade negotiations. One could wonder if that money paid for Shields, some Laroche savings, couldn't have gone into the international market for this year, into which Hahn, apparently, is making a paltry investment. You do realize that the INTL market and how much they spend is absolutely dependent on Reinsdorf right? You can criticize Hahn for trades and signings. Not going nuts on the international market is strictly an ownership decision though.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) That's the sick thing...they thought about this trade for weeks and still f***ing did it. It was fine though. Shields got rocked in 1 start, the one prior to the deal. They didn't give up anything and they are paying below market value for what they thought they were getting. Shields obviously has to be better.
