Why didn't we start this thread after Friday night's game?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 2m2 minutes ago Sounds as if Shuck could going to the DL, BUT won't be known until Saturday. would make sense to add another pitcher short term I would guess that Nate Jones will come up. Maybe we see Trayce Thompson for a reliever before the next series though. Chicago White Sox @whitesox 16m16 minutes ago Prior to tonight's game, #WhiteSox placed J.B. Shuck on 15-day disabled list & recalled RHP @Scotty_Carroll from @KnightsBaseball.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) Rodons problem is he has to throw strikes consistently. Does that get solved in AAA as opposed to the Majors? I don't see the difference. I don't either. And bad minor league hitters will swing at garbage. Someone mentioned this in another thread but Rodon looks like a guy that was pitching against Boston College last year. He'll be fine.

White Sox have worked out Eddy Julio Martinez twice or more
Y2Jimmy0 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Most people were saying Giants/Dodgers for Martinez but Jesse Sanchez said Sox were interested and nobody ruled out. Cubs mentioned too. -
I think he'd dominate AAA hitters and not develop the change up at the same time. I'm going to trust the White sox with pitching

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) a sub-.500 club has no room to complain about moving a guy who's been here for a little more than half a season and will likely be gone by next year anyway Unless they'd rather have chance at wildcard and comp pick instead of prospects and selling. Meh. Maybe offers weren't better than comp pick.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) "We were aggressive on multiple fronts. Ultimately costs did not justify the return." -- Rick Hahn Obviously Hahn can't tell us fans everything. Does this really mean: Jr said make any move I want but don't spend any more money. OR I had a perfect trade but Kenny never called me back. OR Damn, I though the deadline was tomorrow. To me, it seems like everyone was asking for Anderson, Montas, and Erik Johnson. They weren't willing to do that. I wouldn't have been either. I didn't even want to include Trey, Danish, Adams or someone like that for a rental bat. They can add a smaller piece through waivers. 10 pages of freakout is a little unnecessary but I shouldn't be surprised on this website.
-
If the price for a Cespedes/Upton is Anderson, Montas, or Johnson i'd sit this one out and add a bat in August. Not worth it for a rental.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Looks like Cespedes is NYM bound. Upton is probably the most realistic acquisition at this point. Jerry CrasnickVerified account @jcrasnick All indications are the #Padres have nothing happening on Justin Upton. It appears he's staying put at deadline.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) It's very quiet. Almost too quiet. Makes me think something huge is in the works. Todd Frazier is out of tonight's lineup. So is Avisail Garcia. Sounds fair to me.
-
I'd love Alex Guerrero if the Sox could find a way to keep him past this season.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:42 AM) No rentals!! Unless they are dirt cheap. I don't want Cespedes or Upton. Then we go 2-5 next week and we're f***ed. Agree. I want an OF and I want to include Garcia in the package.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) Definitely. Norris, Alford and Lugo would be my guess. Supposedly it's Norris, Alford, and Matt Boyd. That's crazy for a rental. No way Price stays there in offseason.
-
Flowers isn't going anywhere. Especially this season. Chris Sale wants him here.
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:26 AM) Possibly tonights game thread. There's so many active threads its hard to keep track. It was in the Sox Winner thread
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) Well, if Rock isn't kidding, we're adding AJP Where did Rock say anything about AJ?
-
The Marlins are a f***ing joke. The Dodgers are flexing their big market muscles and just buying picks. Each year, the Marlins are rewarded a "Competitive Balance" pick and each year they trade it. LA will most likely just DFA Morse and take the financial hit.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) He can play some 2nd; play some DH. What's the downside? Lose a month of defensive development - okay, but it's worth the upside of having a good hitter on board who can actually steal a base (in contrast to Bonifacio who was inept at it). He won't DH though. If he were RH I could see it. LaRoche will be playing against every RHP. It's fine to sit him against LHP but I wouldn't want to slide Micah in vs LHP necessarily either. I think they are going to let Micah tear up Charlotte some more and trade him in the offseason.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) How many utility infielders to Cooper/Ventura need? Beckham is enough. Bring up Micah. the problem with Jones is that he has exactly TWO strikeouts in 14 innings of work. Where is Micah going to play?
-
I think it'll be Nate Jones and then in a few days Leury will come back for whichever reliever goes.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:13 AM) Perez started out the year hot and has cooled offensively. It seems his defense and caught stealing percentages have fallen off a bit...that's a pretty weird stat, considering he made the All-Star team and not very many argued much about it. Once again, goes to show the overall weakness of the position in the major leagues, with some obvious exceptions like Posey, Molina, Russell Martin, Yan Gomes (when healthy), etc. wOBA of .297 with an .OPS under .700. Defensive WAR is carrying him despite his 15 homers.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) If you compare cores, though....Moustakas, Cain, Escobar, Perez and Hosmer, all in their primes, there's not much of a comparison. We have Eaton, Abreu and Cabrera (31 next year). Yes, Medlen and Hochevar are struggling, but that's to be expected your first half season back when recovering from TJ surgery. They were both brought on board with 2016 in mind, although the jury's out on whether the Royals will want to pay Medlen $10 million (mutual option). Zimmer is a work in progress and has battled injury problems, that's true as well. The other key factor to consider is that the Royals have long-term solutions for C, 3B, SS and CF, the four most important positions on the field right now to find impact players in this offensively-challenged environment. All four of those guys, along with Hosmer are equally good offensively and defensively. Avi Garcia at his best isn't the equal of Cain or Eaton for this very reason. We have Adam Eaton. Crazy stat. Salvador Perez 2015: 1.3 WAR Geovany Soto 2015 season: 1.0 WAR

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:57 AM) Cargo would be good for this team beyond just this year. He might not be the hitter he once was a few years back and he might have health issues, but he's a huge upgrade over Avi. This I agree with. I want them to take Danks deal back though. Danks, Avisail Garcia, and maybe like Thaddeus Lowry. We'll pay CarGo salary but they pay Danks. Keep Samardzija and call up Erik Johnson to take Danks spot and activate Nate Jones

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) Several radio guys after the game today mentioned multiple times that our farm system is "barren" and that we had nothing down there to trade. It might not be super deep or loaded, but we're definitely middle of the pack, right? Radio guys in this town know nothing about the White Sox system. I think White Sox are somewhere between like 16-23 as far as systems go.
