  1. Vera officially signed with White Sox this morning
  2. I disagree with this. The amount of money they’re allowed to spend is definitely the biggest issue
  3. Thompson has the higher ceiling. He's a premium athlete at the position with a fastball in the mid 90's and a hard breaker. Dalquist has a 4 pitch mix and a much higher floor but we valued stuff and upside. Thompson is the better prospect right now.
  4. Why would you have no hope for Sheets? I wasn't a fan of that pick but he's absolutely useful now. 16 homers and 83 RBI in the Southern League is impressive. He's dropped 20 pounds and implemented swing changes. Rival scouts think he can be decent in an outfield corner. He's enhanced his profile quite a bit.
  5. Grandal will catch up way more than this. North of 120 games.
  6. Here is the preseason top 30 prospects list from FutureSox: https://www.futuresox.com/2021/02/24/top-30-white-sox-prospect-rankings-preseason-2021/ Mike Rankin and myself also joined the LockedonSox podcast with Chris Tannehill and Herb Lawrence to discuss the list and the process: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-176-future-sox-top-30-prospects/id1486968407?i=1000510427647
  7. I think they’ll move him around and see if anything sticks. He’s in really good shape but the bat is the carrying tool obviously McClure worked with Ben Hansen and now looks to have a big league future. Rodriguez is super aggressive but can hit and Ramos is pretty exciting. He’ll play the entire season at 19. Thanks for reading! Next wave. He’s only 19 and he will start in Kannapolis. Even if he’s a trade piece, that’s a good outcome. He just needs to play. Burger belongs on the list. He’s healthy, in great shape and can really hit still.
  8. Norge Vera is signing with the White Sox. I'm not sure what the holdup is but it'll happen
  9. Oh yeah for sure. He looks great. There was an argument to put him higher.
  10. Here is 16-30 from our preseason top 30 prospect's list: https://www.futuresox.com/2021/02/23/top-white-sox-prospect-rankings-preseason-2021-16-30/ What does everyone want to know?
  11. Reports seem to indicate that Sosa won't stay at SS either and he's gonna need to hit a lot. He'll be back on at midseason. We don't rank after 30 but I'd guess Sosa and Weaver were the next guys on
  12. We included Vera. Collins isn't eligible
  13. Last week, I would've said no chance. Now I'm leaning towards him making the opening day roster.
  14. It's ranking's week at FutureSox. Today, we released 25 names that just missed our top 30 prospect's list. What does everything think? Anyone have questions? https://www.futuresox.com/2021/02/22/just-missed-prospects-preseason-2021-top-30/
  15. I just don’t think it’s realistic to leave him down that long. They have 5 years of control. Getting another year would entail a June debut. They aren’t waiting that long.
  16. They were only showing 6 before Covid was a thing last year as well
  17. This doesn't mean anything. It just allows the White Sox to not DFA anyone yet.
  18. Theres no way Anderson will go for not leading off. He’ll hit first. I bet Eaton Bats 2nd though.
  19. Vs RHP 1. Anderson 2. Eaton 3. Abreu 4. Grandal 5. Jimenez 6. Moncada 7. Robert 8. Vaughn 9. Madrigal vs LHP 1. Anderson 2. Jimenez 3. Abreu 4. Grandal 5. Robert 6. Moncada 7. Vaughn 8. Engel 9. Madrigal
  20. I'm hoping the White Sox finally take the plunge again on a prep position player at 22. They've been all over multiple guys.
  21. 1. Norge Vera hasn't signed officially. I've been told that it should be any day now but I was told the same thing last week. It'll happen at some point. 2. Cespedes is probably looking for a big league deal and I'm not sure anyone has that for him at this rate. I connected the agency to the Sox but they'd probably only be interested on a minors deal. 3. MLB Pipeline made him the #1 international prospect and it's probably not fair to the kid. He's safe in a sense that he's the closest guy to the majors. Many of the 16-year-olds who were signed have significantly more upside though and I'd rank many of them higher. Marco Paddy is one of the better international scouts in the business. He has Jose Abreu, Luis Robert and Fernando Tatis Jr on his ledger. Jerry Reinsdorf hates paying amateur talent so there's a question on Sox strategy. Does Paddy not have the relationships with trainers to land the top end teenage Dominicans or is Jerry opposed to giving $2-$5 million to 16-year-olds and they don't even bother? When in doubt, I blame Reinsdorf.
  22. Fegan says Kelley and Cespedes are reporting to Arizona for a minor league mini-camp but aren't part of ST roster
  23. I can't see any way that Jared Kelley would be invited to big league spring training. That doesn't make much sense.
