  1. For some reason I envision that’s what everyone from New York looks & sounds like.
  2. 100% agree on Levine, he does occasionally break transactions, but most of his rumor type tweets seem like obvious plants. As for Guff, totally seems like a good dude but I’m going to take his rumors at face value. I mean, yesterday he basically agreed with Levine and then inmedietly kind of back-tracked by saying don’t believe everything you here with these rumors. He may be privy to some info, but my guess it’s a similar situation to Bruce.
  3. I doubt those are the offers. $50M AAV is too high even on a short-term deal.
  4. MLBTradeRumors, but it’s a complete wasteland where you’ll be called a homo or retard if you disagree with anyone. So basically it’s the equivalent of YouTube’s comments section.
  5. My son’s birthday is on Monday and I can’t think of a better gift than a Machado signing. Don’t let my boy down Hahn!!
  6. True, I’m still operating under the assumption we won’t add much outside of the whales this year though and I still think we could squeeze both in right now.
  7. Let’s jut get one wrapped up and then worry if we can squeeze another in the budget.
  8. I think it’s about time we accept the fact that while Guff is a solid podcaster, his abilities as an insider leave a lot to be desired.
  9. No doubt and honestly I was just fucking around, but I do think there is a case for pursuing both if you can land them for about $75M/year. With our new TV deal, that could give us a good $100M to work with to fill out the rest of the roster and potentially even more.
  10. No way am I trading a guy with Moncada’s tools after just one full season.
  11. It’s higher than that. 1/3 * 1/3 = ~11%.
  12. Probably wrapping up a contract with Harper as we speak.
  13. My guess is an official offer would outline all the underlying details & key terms. Right now they’re probably still negotiating high level figures because that’s what is important.
  14. That’s how I took it, that player believes he will choose the White Sox not that he has.
  15. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but am confused how my post is saying anything differently. Apologize if my wording suggests otherwise.
  16. 100% agree. One is a blogger from Australia with questionable player relationships, while the other is a legit beat reporter with proven access to players, coaches, & front office types. One is definitely not like the other.
  17. If this is someone ripping people who questioned Dan Clark, this guy did not say it was 100% happening, that press conferences were being planned, etc. He simply said he talked to a player who thinks Manny is choosing is the Sox.
  18. Yup, there is clearly no agenda here, it really comes down to whether or not the player he talked to would be privy to Machado’s current thinking. Obviously there is no way of knowing that, but it’s better than said player saying he’s going to the Yankees or Phillies.
  19. This is true, but I don’t think he knows that and he does so in a naturally condescending manner.
  20. Look, we really can’t go wrong either player given where the organization stands today. IMO, Machado is the safer player because he’s an all-around talent who provides consistent 6 win production and fills a much bigger organizational hole. That being said, Harper probaly has the higher ceiling if 100% healthy & locked-in with the bat. Unfortunately he’s incredibly inconsistent, struggles to stay healthy, & his defense (while better than he showed last year) is at a very minimum not good. Production wise Machado is far more likely to live up to his contract. There is no denying the intangibles Bryce brings to the table and for a team like us I think his marketability could be worth half his contract. And that’s a big reason why even though I’m not expecting both guys, I think it’s most definitely a possibility and something the front office will pursue if the the dollar are right.
  21. My honest opinion is Machado at the very least knows what he’d be willing to accept from each team and we’re down to the last minute poker. That Levine leak is a tell-tale sign that the Sox don’t want the Phillies to think they’ve gone 10 years and revise their bid. I really think you’re right that this thing wraps fairly soon and possibly even this week. Once the poker starts, things typically move pretty fast as an agent can only say “if you go to x dollars we have a deal” once.
  22. Exactly, that’s why I’d be more willing to give it a bit more credibility than when one of the random New York “insiders” or even Bruce Levine reports something.
