A combo of Machado at 3B, Anderson at SS, & Moncada at 2B could provide elite infield defense. That is the dream and I think something Machado could be convinced of assuming the money is there.

Man the medicals would have to be really bad to pass on Mize. Dream scenario right now is Tigers do a big underslot deal with Kelenic, Giants & Phillies are infatuated with Bart & Bohm respectively, and somehow we get our choice of Madrigal & Mize. I just hope the Giants are as obsessed with Bart as the experts are making it out to seem. He’s probably my #4 prospect at this point, but he’s a clear tier below the Madrigal/Bohm group who are a tier below Mize.

I would be ok with this, but not sure if there anyone from extended (Curbelo?) they want to give the everyday SS role in Kannapolis to once Rivera is bumped up. And if we end up selecting Madrigal in the draft that job probably goes to him pretty quickly.

I know some players do that, but I’m at SoxFest with my 4 & 1 year old sons all decked out in Sox gear. I doubt I look like the guy who might go sell his stuff on Ebay. Regardless, I just think when you’re at a fan convention you shouldn’t worry about shit like that. Doesn’t mean I think he’s a bad guy though.

On a baseball at least. He personalized autographs with the requester’s name. I had to get my kid’s name on there which kind of sucks. Not sure why, hell his intentions may have been good, but I heard multiple people complain about this and I would have preferred just his autograph.

He seemed perfectly nice to me at SoxFest, but he refused to sign just his name which kind of sucked.

I did not know that, although I doubt it’s a huge factor. The money has to be their first & foremost, everything else is secondary.

I’m good friends with an intelligent, die-hard Cubs fan and he already acknowledged their next TV deal will be nothing like the crazy ones we’ve seen in recent years.

You act like there won’t be another half dozen teams willing to offer these guys $350M to $400M contracts. These guys aren’t going to automatically pick the Cubs because Theo is their GM, that idea is ludicrous.

Don’t think there’s a chance in hell the Cubs can win the Harper or Machado sweepstakes with the amount of dead money they’ll have on their books and with all their young players hitting arbitration in the next two years.

Yup, and we have almost no long-term financial commitments. Now is not the time to be risk adverse. The fact that Reinsdorf is like 88 years old and agreed to a rebuild tells me he is going to do everything in his power to get one last World Series before his card is punched.

Rodon, Kopech, & possibly Stephens will join the rotation. Vieira, Hamilton, & maybe Burdi will join the pen. Despite how people feel about it, Eloy will be on this team before the end of the year IMO. Plus we’ll get Avi back at some point. Lot’s of talent will be joining the team in the second half.
