  1. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Well, it does matter. You'd still like to see him get some punchouts, but it's more acceptable from him than most other guys. I guess the point being for the type of pitcher he is, a 9-1 go/ao ratio is more encouraging to me than his k rate is discouraging. A low K rate is ok for his type of pitcher, but like I said, 4 K's per 9 won't cut it in the majors.
  2. Two games without Adolfo, please tell me he's not injured already.
  3. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 06:28 PM) He's a sinkerballer. 9-1 GO/FO Doesn't matter, 4 K's per 9 isn't going to work at the major league level.
  4. QUOTE (Soha @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 05:45 PM) Gonna guess that stat doesn't include home runs, which he has 9 of so far. Now, why a stat would be useful by subtracting home runs is beyond me. Because it's only considering balls in play, which seems to make sense to me.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) I think it's kinda ridiculous to say Alvarez is incredibly overrated and then lost his upside as a reserve infielder, which is basically the same opinion as those rooting for him. He's fast and has good OBP skills, and a good story. Not everyone people root for is because they think they'll be stars. The fact that he's a good story is part of the reason why he's overrated. Go ahead and cheer for him all you want, but I hear way more about him than other prospects in our system who also have backup ceilings. He's routinely on these sleeper lists and I'm pretty sure a certain poster here predicted Alvarez would develop into a top 100 prospect at one point. If it weren't for his interesting background, he'd just be another organizational guy IMO.
  6. Wow, can't believe Anderson didn't go there.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) you're not going to like this, rowand44. But Kyle Schwarber eats baseballs and has me shooker than any player in baseball sans Mike Trout. Lol...you are a complete joke bro.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Danish 5 innings, 1 run. 101 pitches. Only two K's, which isn't going to work.
  9. This offense sure hates scoring run for Q.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) It's a game, and Saladino had back surgery in offseason. He may see off days a lot I mean, the reality is you have to play your bench guys once in a while to keep them fresh. My beef with the Guillen Sunday Lineup was the fact he played them all at once. Given that wins really don't matter this season, who really cares I guess.
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) Not a breakout prospect per se but here's a list of players I think will be thought of more highly at the end of the year than they are now: Starting pitchers: Jordan Stephens, Dane Dunning Relievers: Aaron Bummer, Matt Cooper, Brian Clark Hitters: Eddy Alvarez, Nicky Delmonico, Danny Hayes, Jameson Fisher, Alex Call, Kevan Smith I agree with most of your list. However, Kevan Smith turns 29 this season and was recently taken off the 40 man roster. I don't see his value improving much this year. And I think Eddy Alvarez is incredibly overrated around here. His upside is reserve infielder IMO and as a 27 year old speed guy he's simply running out of time.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) That is fine.. Then sit Frazier who is 1-15 with 10 infield pop ups and not Saladino who is 4/13 with 4 BB's and giving some of the best AB's I thought Frazier looked ok yesterday.
  13. Really need a strong performance from Q today!
  14. You forgot Dan Jennings, who will be traded if he's a decent season, as there is always a market for left-handed relievers. He is also controlled through 2019.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Homer for Delmonico. Probably my third favorite minor league hitter after Moncada and Collins Definitely my third favorite hitter after those two. Can't wait for him & Moncada to be up in a few months. The major league is going to be a ton of fun to watch once those two plus Lopez, Fulmer, & Burdi are all up.
  16. The velocity is dissapointing for Giolito, but the K's are somewhat encouraging. I think it's way too early to panic about the velocity decline though. Let's give him a chance to work through his mechanical issues.
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 05:23 PM) As I wrote, "when it's (the season) is over." The Sox need to admit they were wrong on it and cut their losses. He's going to be 26, he's had multiple chances, he's not going to get any better. I'm sure there is at least one kid in the minor league system that the organization doesn't know a lot about, who should get a shot. With Garcia it's "what you see is what you get." Mark No offense, but this is just a bunch of lazy BS. Don't do the generic "there's got to be someone better" crap. Look at our AAA depth chart and tell me who should get a shot right now in RF. I'm no Avi fan, but right now he is the best man for the job. That may not be the case in a couple months, but until someone shows themselves worthy it should be Avi's job to lose.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) I think value wise, he could ultimately be a poor man's Zobrist. Good contact skills, good eye, a bit of pop, and he's athletic enough to play around the diamond. His walk on base skills haven't shown up as much at the majors yet, but I think they will over time. He's worth keeping around. This is what I've been saying for a wild now. He won't be nearly as good of a hitter as prime Zobrist and it seems like his OF days may be over, but the fact he is a good to great defender at 2B, SS, & 3B gives him plenty of defensive utility. With consistent playing time, whether at one spot or across the infield, I honestly expect a 3 WAR type season from Tyler.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Jon Morosi‏Verified account @jonmorosi 11m11 minutes ago #Astros need for rotation help increases. RHP Collin McHugh won't throw for 6 weeks; posterior impingement of his right elbow. @MLBNetwork QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Bob Nightengale‏Verified account @BNightengale 18s19 seconds ago More Now that #Astros Collin McHugh is shut down for 6 weeks, only natural to wonder if this could re-start Jose Quintana trade talks w #WhiteSox Just got to hope the internal options struggle. If so, I have no doubts Luhnow panics and comes crawling back to us sooner rather than later. He should be under some serious pressure at this point to deliver a winner.
  20. I don't care if this comes back to bite me, but I think Saladino is a legit everyday major leaguer player. He's a much better hitter than a lot of posters give him credit for.
  21. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) Crazy to think they could've had Bryant and Rodon or Schwarber over Appel and Aiken. I mean, didn't the Aiken pick end up turning into Bregman? If so, I'm sure they'd rather have him than Rodon or Schwarber at the moment.
  22. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) How did he not make the big club over Asche? He need regular playing time in the field and he isn't getting that with the Sox until Frazier or Melky is traded.
  23. Nicky Delmonico is a f***ing beast.
  24. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) I have confidence in them pursuing Ohtani. The Sox were very much in pursuit of Tanaka and were reported to be in the final mix, which means they had to have a $100M+ offer on the table. We can only land one or the other, so my point is you don't pass on Robert where you have a slight edge over the competition for a guy who would be forgoing a f***ton of money by coming to the states next season and who may have no interest in playing for your organization.
  25. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Maybe not. If they traded Frazier I would assume Delmonico would be recalled. The question then would be, who does the organization think has more of a future, Delmonico or Davidson. I am assuming options ultimately made the decision breaking camp. I would hope Delmonico, as I don't think Davidson ever becomes more than a platoon/bench piece due to his contact issues.
