This trade would address our offensive concerns while allowing us to keep two of three top prospects (Anderson & Adams). Braun & Smith both have multiple years of control, while Lucroy would only have one more of control but at a very favorable price. You talk about wanting to build an organization that can win year after year, but relying on a bunch of fringe prospects isn't the answer to that. The clock on our core is ticking and either we can go for it while these guys provide surplus value or we can wait years for the system to be able to produce impact talent on a regular basis. Your plan of a bunch of AAAA types filling out all the holes on our roster is the absolute worst solution and would completely waste the prime years of our core.

This bench is just inexcusable. Our team can't hit RHP and all four bench guys (Shuck, Sands, Rollins, Navarro) have splits that clearly favor LHP. On top of that, two of those guys have no defensive versatility, while Shuck is a below average defender at the multiple OF spots he can play. What makes it even worse is there are plenty of options at AAA that could likely provide more value. If we're not going to use Sands then why not call up Luery Garcia and use him as a pinch runner & late inning defensive replacement? And why not calling up Coats or Hayes over Shuck? Both have better splits against RHP than Shuck in the minors. Coats is likely a better defender in the OF and Hayes the superior defender at 1B. No doubt neither guy is a sure thing, but at least calling up either of them would be attempting to address a weakness. This team is going nowhere if they continue to rely on guys like Avila, Rollins, & Shuck against RHP.

Lol @ the Robin supporters. DHing Rollins against RHP is ridiculous. And f*** Rick Hahn while I'm at it. If Jerry Sands can't start tonight (at DH no less) while Melky is out, then he has no place on this roster. What a f***ing joke.

While I think we have to improve the DH spot, there may be cheaper, more effective ways of doing so than giving up one of our top two prospects for CarGo.

Replacing Sands is the obvious move. He serves no real purpose on this team. While Coats' numbers are definitely being inflated by a high BABIP (.390), his splits are very promising (good home & away, good vs LHP & RHP). Plus his defensive ability in the corners would be a huge plus off the bench. He's a much more complete player (even if he lacks that one plus skill) and fits our needs off the bench much better than what Sands can provide. This move is a no brainer IMO.

Huge f***ing win! I got home from work when the score was 0-4 and I was certain this game would be a lost cause. But this team battled and proved me wrong. Big props to Saladino for refusing to quit and providing some much needed heart to a deflated lineup.
