  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 28, 2016 -> 06:57 AM) To be fair, some of the hits off of Albers were doinks, abetted by Rollins' lousy defense. He can't hit right handed pitching at all, his D shows his age, and Cooper/Ventura insist that he play 5/7....maybe it's Rollins who should get the DFA. Yeah, I'm not sure I put that much blame on Albers. That was an ideal situation to use Jones and Robin failed to do so.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 06:41 AM) That was near the end of April, 2000. Yes, look at their record in May-July of that season...zipped to the best record in baseball. Rob Fick flipped off everyone, Jeff Weaver and Juan Samuel were other big elements of it. That's what I thought. A fight could do wonders for this team, just need to be more strategic than last year's altercation with the Royals. Instead of Sale getting into the middle of the action, we need guys like Sands & Rollins to step up. Also, loved when Fick got that beer dumped on him. And the Magglio jump kick. What an awesome fight.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2016 -> 02:11 AM) I hate to be a negative prick, but we have no chance in this game. Sox lost all the mojo it had. Yes at one point we were so hot and confident we had a chance to play with KC and beat KC. Now forget it. We are fodder for them. Look for about 5-7 wins against KC this year 12 to 14 losses. Sorry but that's the case. After last night, today is a no brainer KC victory. There is momentum in baseball. KC owns us and has set the tone at 3-1 vs. Chicago in four games this season already. Today should be something like 7-3 or 7-1 KC Please keep the Royals love out of this thread...thanks.
  4. Ventura and Lawrie have beef right? I wouldn't mind some of those feelings spilling over to the field today. Didn't the Sox perform well after that famous Tigers fight during the Jerry Manual era? Anything that might shake things is good by me.
  5. I am so sick and tired of losing. If this team has any heart, they will come out this afternoon and simply f*** KC up. 1st place is at stake and we will see what this team is made of coming off a painful loss. Go Sox!
  6. He doesn't need to go, but he should only be used in low leverage situations until he proves otherwise.
  7. Wow, not that far away from back to back to back.
  8. Wow, that big middle finger fixed our offense! Five runs already scored since posted!
  9. Hey offense, you're being perfect gamed right now by Danny Duffy? Do you realize how pathetic that is? Man the f*** and bunt for a hit or some s***. Do anything and everything to get on base just once! Losing our divisional lead by being perfect gamed would the most epic fail ever! ________________$$$$ ______________$$____$$ ______________$$____$$ ______________$$____$$ ______________$$____$$ ______________$$____$$ __________$$$$$$____$$$$$$ ________$$____$$____$$____$$$$ ________$$____$$____$$____$$__$$ $$$$$$__$$____$$____$$____$$____$$ $$____$$$$________________$$____$$ $$______$$______________________$$ __$$____$$______________________$$ ___$$$__$$______________________$$ ____$$__________________________$$ _____$$$________________________$$ ______$$______________________$$$ _______$$$____________________$$ ________$$____________________$$ _________$$$________________$$$ __________$$________________$$ __________$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  10. This offense needs to wake the f*** up and do so now. And if it doesn't, some sort of coaching change needs to be made. I get the players are responsible for their on-field performance, but when basically the entire lineup is struggling at the same time it's something bigger than that. These guys are clearly pressing and whatever Robin, Steverson, & Sparks are doing isn't helping based on the length of this slump. We're quickly approaching the point of firing someone simply to stir some s*** up.
  11. Danny f***ing Dufffy is throwing a no-hitter through 4. No wonder caulfield is so excited.
  12. Rollins has a .485 OPS against RHP, which is absolutely horrible. Despite crushing LHP, he's basically been a replacement level player so far. Our goal this offseason was to replace the replacement level & negative WAR players with solid 2 WAR types and Rollins isn't that. Challenge the word "disaster" all you like, but I can't think of a better word to describe trotting Rollins out in the two-hole day after day against RHP. While that ultimately falls on Robin, it doesn't change the fact how Jimmy is impacting our lineup. His performance has sucked and the signing as of now hasn't worked out. There is still some hope if Robin starts looking at splits and realizes whaf kind of player Jimmy is now. Not very optimistic on that front though. Also, let me add that I agree Jimmy has added value in the clubhouse and that I was a fan of signing him partly due to that reason. However, once it became apparent he can longer hit RHP, his time as regular should have ended. I don't want to cut Rollins by any means, but his role need to change because he's hurting the team right now.
  13. As soon as we guarantee that extra year or control, Anderson should be called up. Rollins has been a disaster and clearly the Sox don't have a lot of faith in Saladino being a passable regular. Anderson will struggle at first, but no way can he be worse than Rollins has been. And I think spending some time with Rollins would be fantastic for his development. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Danny Hayes called up to take some starts at DH. Sands serves no purpose on this team as currently constructed unless we're willing to send down Avi (which seems unlikely). Against RHP: 1. Eaton, RF 2. Anderson, SS 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Frazier, 3B 5. Cabrera, LF 6. Lawrie, 2B 7. Hayes, DH 8. Catcher (50/50 split) 9. Jackson, CF Against LHP: 1. Eaton, RF 2. Anderson, SS 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Frazier, 3B 5. Cabrera, LF 6. Lawrie, 2B 7. Garcia, DH 8. Navarro, C 9. Jackson, CF
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 26, 2016 -> 08:21 AM) He probably did get fired in Miami at least in part due to his comments on Castro, though. Sox should send down Sands and call up Hayes.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 25, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) If only we would have signed Cespedes. Imagine what his OPS would have translated to in terms of wins above Avi. That's the only thing that pisses me off about the offseason. It was clear we needed another impact bat and Cespedes was there for the taking. I blame ownership more for that than I do Hahn though. He was a player worth opening the checkbook for and it seems like Hahn didn't have enough financial flexibility to add an impact free agent. Hell, Ian Desmond would be looking pretty good right now at SS over Rollins.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) The only way to have Lucroy on your team is NOT having Anderson to bring up because he was just traded. UNLESS the White Sox were also willing to take on all of Ryan Braun's contract as well...which you know JR will never do. What would be your proposed trade that DOESN'T involve Anderson? Fulmer for a rental? Hahn won't do that. A package built around Adams might be able to get you Lucroy.
  17. Must win game today. Quintana & the offense both need to bring it. We can not let Cleveland get within half a game of first place.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Saladino is a good defensive player who is fine as the 9th hitter. Problem is the catcher and CF spot are also players that are defense-first. Just not enough offensive talent in the lineup I think we can carry Saladino & Jackson if we can get a legit DH. Avila is a real problem and Navarro is such a bad framer that he's not the full time answer either. The catcher position has to be addressed IMO.
  19. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 24, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) One bad game? Have you looked at Saladino's entire body of work? Rollins has a significantly better OBP and OPS in a greater number of at-bats. Given that Tyler's numbers plummeted with increased exposure last year, I believe the same would happen this year if we let it go on. So that gap should widen. Also, despite his speed, Saladino's produced no steals, and been caught twice. Once due to an awful slide. His one advantage is defense, and I reject the notion that Rollins is so bad that his offensive superiority doesn't cover it. Rollins has a .483 OPS against RHP, making him arguably one of the worst hitters in baseball against such pitchers. Throw in defense and no logical argument can be made for Jimmy over Tyler.
  20. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 24, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) Why is Saladino playing again? He wasn't useless enough yesterday? Ugh. So you want to bench guys for having one bad game? Don't think we could field a full lineup aftet last night I guess. And honestly, who do you want to see in there? Rollins??? No one else can play SS.
  21. Avila is a real problem at catcher. Outside of drawing some walks, his bat is completely useless. Whether it's Lucroy or a lesser option, we desperately need to add another catcher IMO.
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) 2 hr for Delmonico. He is absolutely destroying AA. He is only 23 too. Do we have a legit hitter in the making? We might. We're talking about a former over-slot signing (got $1.5M as a 6th round pick) and Orioles top 10 prospect who was side-tracked due to off the field issues. I'm not ready to include in our five year plan, but there's clearly a ton of talent there and his left-handed bat stands out in a system devoid of offensive talent. I'd give him a few more weeks at AA as his BABIP is bound to regress some, but would move him up to Charlotte shortly thereafter.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 23, 2016 -> 08:24 PM) I want him to be good so bad. I have hope every time he comes up, not sure why anymore I do too for some reason, but the velocity is gone for some reason.
  24. Dude is a f***ing headcase. Serves up one meatball and all of the sudden it's the walk show.
