Because Sheets has a mean remoulade recipe and Elias has a known affinity for crab cakes ever since coming over to Baltimore. Seems like it’s destiny for this pairing to finally materialize.

Is it really suggesting that or do you guys simply have less org guys with below average stuff filling out rosters? Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather be at the top of that list than the bottom but not sure any real conclusions can be drawn from it without the underlying player specific details.

I think they could be…but I do like the an old fashioned AL East bidding war where Elias ultimately accepts defeat and gives up Basallo & Mayo for Cease and Gavin “The Prince of Maryland” Sheets.

I think most teams will be hesitant to give Blake Snell $200M+. I think it takes a special kind of desperation like with the Angels losing Ohtani and the Giants being unable to convince anyone from the US to take their money.

I think Boston is out of money for reasons unknown and are unlikely to add Snell or Montgomery. But yes, the Angels snagging Snell would be the best outcome for us followed by the Giants.

Boras begging for a bigger market for Snell doesn’t really bother us.

We always needed two OFs to get Sheets out of the outfield. This is one of those guys and this helps prevent Romy from automatically making the roster. As a minor league deal, this move is fine to fill the 4th OF role. We still need to find a RF and someone worth giving those innings. If they plan to platoon Phillips out there for “defense” then this is a really bad move.

They have said player in Yoelqui Cespedes, but he lacks leadership and Royals experience unfortunately

My valuations have all been data driven with very clear assumptions. I have shared my thinking with your board and no one has disputed anything other than not liking the proposed price. I think you guys want to believe you have some magical treasure chest of prospects that no one else possesses. If your top three are truly off limits, then what you have to offer can be matched.

How do you know Dominguez is not on the board?

Yankees match up better with us than the Orioles if an emphasis on pitching is true. Realistically one of their top OF prospects + two arms (or one arm plus something else) seems very doable without impacting the Yankees near-term outlook all that much.

The good thing about free speech is Bob Nightengale is allowed to present a clearly unneeded, one-sided story from Omar’s corrupt perspective while at the same time we can call out Bob for being morally bankrupt for publishing in the first place.

Why would we take guys the Yankees soured on? It sounds Ike Pereira has a LF only profile and incredibly questionable hit tool. How does that make any sense for us?

I really don’t those guys have that much value. Not saying they are bad players, but who is giving up a controllable arm for them plus lesser prospects?

Rosenthal’s latest podcast mentions Cease still likely to be moved and that many teams are still need of a TOR starter including BAL, NYY, BOS, & SFG specifically being mentioned. He then calls out the Orioles as really needing to add an impactful starter (and to also replace Gibson’s innings) and said that they should be in on Cease but could also potentially look at the Mariners or Marlins’ controllable starters as potential alternatives. He also spend some time talking about the Red Sox needing a legit TOR arm but might not having the money for Snell or Montgomery. To me, we really need the Angels to somehow snag Snell. I think that ensures a large amount of teams in need of impactful pitching but few options remaining in free agency outside of Montgomery, who I anticipate many clubs will not want to sign at anywhere near the dollars he is going to get.

We really need a legit rumor. Haven’t heard much about the Giants lately, but they need a TOR, especially if they don’t land Snell

Good point, although I’d assume in an open market like this they are pretty close to the the same thing (although perhaps timing plays some impact).

Herrera is our only signing in the top 50.
