  1. Fully agree on his takes…heard one of Twitter spaces and it was absolutely cringe worthy.
  2. Fully agree. And that’s the problem…seems like he’s determined to bet on himself and not lock down $70M or so for the next four seasons.
  3. I’ve said before I’d prefer extending Crochet over trading him. But let’s be honest, Reinsdorf is gonna Jerry and refuse to take on any risk when it comes to pitching. Anyways, my point of optimism is regarding the market. Getz is a big wild card and could botch it, but at least the demand and the right GMs should be in the mix this deadline. The potential to execute a transformative series of trades is very much possible if managed correctly.
  4. Random thoughts, but I’m starting to feel very optimistic about White Sox trade possibilities. I really think Robert ultimately gets traded to the Phillies. It is just a perfect match for so many reasons with a package likely centered around Aiden Miller. Fedde is going to land a legit 50 FV prospect plus a nice secondary piece from a small club who needs a potential playoff starter on the cheap. And it’s all but a certainty Crochet gets dealt for a haul if he can hang in there for another four weeks. I was very skeptical teams would meet the ask given the innings concern, but sounds like in this market that won’t matter. There is real hope right now and Getz needs to deliver.
  5. It doesn’t appear that we have a hitting version of Bannister just yet.
  6. Please keep us up-to-date on any bad things that happen
  7. But the high first round 1B track record is sparkling in comparison?
  8. Last I checked his velocity at Charlotte was the same as last year, but perhaps that’s no longer the case.
  9. You realize how bad Abel has been this year right? His stock has probably slipped a ton. It’s a really light offer IMO.
  10. Crochet for Holliday straight up…who says no?
  11. Fathom suggested there were legitimate offers, probably a bit better than what we got for those two. Probably nothing crazy, but my guess something better than the market Getz had to work with.
  12. Hard to get excited by Shuster when he’s K’ing less than six per nine. Honestly, it looks like we got a whole lot of nothing with Gowens the one wild card. It’s very clear to me that Hahn blew it by not dealing Bummer at the 2023 deadline.
  13. You like that Phillies trade? If I don’t get Miller, no one way I moving him to them.
  14. O’s trade would be a yes for me. Phillies trade a hard no. Need to read up Knoth before stating an opinion either way.
  15. Yup, he has a 10% walk rate and 5% K rate over his last nine games, but also a .156 BABIP (which is now pretty much normalized on a YTD basis). Honestly at this point it’s just the game power that is of concern, but I’m willing to give him more time there before I panic.
  16. The broke ass Guardians are just such a perfect fit for Fedde. Honestly, any small market club with a need for SP will be over him come July.
  17. I love me some Mayo, but went with Basallo because he’s lefty and there is still a non-zero chance he can play a premium position. But I wouldn’t be against your proposal in the slightest.
  18. Crochet is incredibly hard to value, but the dude is on pace for a six win season and actually looks the part. The only things holding back his value are general health concerns and an innings limit than year. If you actually believe he can hold up, he’s a $100M+ surplus value guy even if restricted at some point this year. For the package I proposed, I’d value Basallo around $60M, Beaver around $30M, and Baumeister around $10M. If you look at the O’s system, it is incredibly top heavy and there is not a realistic path to a Crochet trade without one of Basallo, Mayo, or Kjerstad. I went with Basallo simply because he’s the farthest away (although not by much) and doesn’t fill an immediate hole. The Robert trade to me comes down to if you believe in Miller. He’s shot up to 21st overall on BA’s Top 100 list and seems like a legit 60 FV guy to me. Pair him with Basallo, Montgomery, and a bat at 1-5 and you suddenly have a group of high ceiling / high floor bats that you build around with alongside others like Quero, Ramos, Gonzalez, the three OFs acquired in these trades, etc. Crawford is probably a bit polarizing given his value is still tied to a lot of projection, but I’m willing to gamble on the athleticism and hopefully some power eventually resulting into a good everyday CF. And Abel is a buy low type that I could see Bannister being highly interested in (assuming health isn’t the reason for his problems this year) based on the rumored Texan proposal for Cease. It’s not the Juan Soto package, but I don’t see many teams who can (or will) offer a 60 FV prospect alongside two other 55 to 50 FV guys.
  19. To be honest, I have Basallo as a 1B based on the reports I’ve read but the bat seems legit enough to project him as an impact hitter regardless of position. I know some may prefer a guy Kjerstad who can play the OF, but he’s not great out there and is already 25. Given our situation, I’d push for youth and ceiling and I think Basallo offers the best combo of anyone attainable in that system (though admittedly I really like what I’ve seen of Mayo).
  20. Passan had a “Perfect Trade for each Contender” article today and it has Robert to the Phillies, Crochet to the Orioles, & Fedde to the Guardians. And honestly, all three of those pairings make sense. Here is what I’d want from each of them to get a deal done: CF Luis Robert to PHI for SS/3B Aidan Miller, OF Justin Crawford, RHP Mick Abel, & RHP Wen Hui Pan SP Crochet to BAL for C/1B Samuel Basallo, OF Dylan Beavers, & RHP Jackson Baumeister SP Fedde to CLE for OF Jaison Churio & RHP Andrew Waters Please flame away as needed!
  21. I think Phillies or Mariners are easily the two best fits for Robert and have front offices that are typically aggressive.
  22. Last I checked he was still hitting LHP, so could be a platoon OF.
  23. Would be nice to free up some OF space and see what we have with the group you highlighted. I’d certainly give Eloy away at the deadline to do so.
