  1. I think the plan would be make him an opener for two months and then ramp him back up to a starter before the playoffs. Two NL GMs that Jim Bowden talked to who have interest in Crochet said as much. And I think that plan could potentially work, although it certainly comes with risk. That being said, there is no player available who could have a potentially bigger impact in October than Crochet. If you’re confident in what you have to make the playoffs, he’s the ultimate World Series swing for GMs with big balls.
  2. Yes, I think it’s all but a certainty that a lot of these guys start reaching next year, many probably in May or June. But I could see Baldwin in the Opening Day mix and so will some of the other pitchers who will likely be called up after the deadline.
  3. Sounds like his opinion more than something he’s actually heard. Not 100% going for it when you have a real chance doesn’t sound like Dombrowski to me.
  4. Baltimore gets competitive balance picks which makes a world of a difference in “drafting studs later”.
  5. He was awesome in 2021 as a reliever and the stuff is still there…need a couple of teams that think they can fix him and we can something interesting.
  6. It’s wild how much he’s decreased the usage of the slider and how much less effective it has been this year. A big part of that looks to be command driven because in 2021 it was a very productive pitch and he consistently hit the bottom corner of the zone. This year he’s all over the place and it shows. If a teams think they can fix that pitch, then he may a little more value than most of us our thinking. 2021 Kopech with a year of control would be one of the most valuable players on the market right now.
  7. He’s already expendable
  8. I was very against Caglianone until this post…now I am all in
  9. I like how you’re thinking!
  10. I’ll be in the minority and say I don’t agree with the need to “win” trades. Get what you deem fair value and move on. Obviously you hold these guys if that doesn’t happen, but needing a team to overpay is a bit extreme IMO.
  11. Will you ever stop this endless crusade of pessimism?
  12. He’s still one of the best offensive CFs in the game despite that bad, but improving BB:K ratio (go take a look if you don’t believe me). And how is his defense declining rapidly? No doubt he’s not giving it his all. Not sure why that’s alarming when this a team that’s on the brink of being the worst in MLB history. We have seen what he’s capable of when the team is competing. His effort has never been in question prior to this season and I am willing bet he turns it up a notch if traded to a contender.
  13. I think they mean the broader top 30 (Bush and beyond)
  14. Star from a production standpoint, not from a Cauldield marketing perspective
  15. Hadn’t got to your post yet ?
  16. Who else would teach them that dinosaurs never existed?
  17. Give me Beavers all day over Norby.
  18. Maybe shopping for a Jeep Wrangler?
  19. As someone who hasn’t been too annoyed by Schriffen this year, I found this call to be absolutely cringe worthy. Maybe if we were on a 100 win pace I could tolerate it more, but good god was it embarrassing and completely lacking any sense of how shitty things are at the moment. But honestly, some of the blame should fall on Brooks and him failing to coach Schriffen properly. You hired a guy for his energy ahead of a historically bad seasonal and probably should have had him tone it down a bit to avoid drawing mass hate from the fanbase. Schriffen isn’t the reason we are going to lose 110+ games, but he is as the face of it at times and while I can block that out I can understand why others can not. Know your customer better Brooks.
  20. Because you just referred to Bradfield as a 50 FV prospect on your board when proposing he be a big part of an offer for Crochet + Robert, but then ripped Zavala for struggling with the bat and implying he’s not all that valuable at the moment as a result. Zavala is three years younger than Bradfield and has been more productive than Bradfield with the bat. Is it fair to say Bradfield’s value is down then?
  21. Zavala’s wRC+ is higher than Bradfield’s despite being three years younger at the same level, but haven’t heard you say he is struggling…
