  1. Baseball America has him 36th overall
  2. I hope you’re right, but it kind of feels like most of these mocks simply missed on how clubs valued Burns & Smith (hope I’m wrong though).
  3. It’s pretty wild. Hopefully they are just waiting until the trade deadline or something to make a move. No way this clown should be give a single inch of rope at this point.
  4. Maybe a little, but I personally can’t imagine Smith was a huge underslot. To get someone like Ryan Sloan at #43 will requiring going college senior with a couple mid round picks (which I’d be ok with).
  5. Yes, assuming those rumors are in fact true. But we still need to see him actually make a move that proves that out. I have zero concerns on the pitching side of things with Bannister’s influence on moves. I have much less confidence in Barfield and even moreso Watson to help us identify the right positional prospects via trade at the moment. Hope they prove me wrong though. It also doesn’t help that the one dude I have trust in (Shirley) is going to have a hard time addressing the system’s positional need with the remainder of this draft given how weak that crop of players is come #43.
  6. Getz basically has add four or five legit positional prospects (including a couple high ceiling ones) this deadline or during the offseason from trading off Robert, Crochet, & Fedde. Just feels like that could be a very tall task. I do love Smith’s upside, but it is a bit terrifying that we still don’t know Getz’s view on building an offense. I 100% get the risks that come with Jac and Griffen, but at least it would have signaled Getz is willing to swing for the fences for high impact positional players. Right now, his biggest additions on the offensive end are a pair of highly questionable, low upside OF prospects in Fletcher & DeLoach.
  7. I’d assume Condon, but also thought it was all but certain he’d go #2
  8. Wow, Burns going second is a shocker
  9. Would have loved to see Weatherholt go #1.
  10. You literally do no research and just spit out pessimistic bullshit. Go look at what free agents are signing for. Jorge Soler got 3/$42M this offseason….if you think a $20M option for Luis Robert is negative value then you are totally lost.
  11. $50M of surplus value is like one 55 FV positional prospect and a 45 FV pitcher. You’re saying you would accept that for Robert?
  12. Way too little. I wouldn’t trade for less than $80M or $90M.
  13. Yeah god forbid those $20M options…?
  14. I don’t see why the Mariners would trade for more pitching
  15. The Dodgers’ injured list is absolutely wild. Feels like Fedde would be a perfect fit for what they need right now.
  16. That’s really shitty to hear
  17. I’d be super nervous building a trade around Snelling right now. Without having all the facts admittedly, I’d worry there could be some sort of injury contributing to his problems. Too risky in my mind to be a co headliner.
  18. As for the Padres, I just don’t see a good fit even if they were willing to give up De Vries. Baltimore remains the best theoretical fit, but obviously doesn’t feel very practical with how Elias operates.
  19. I will say that Jones’ lack of hit tool development this year has tanked him value some and he would not be an appropriate headliner for Crochet. While Arias is not mentioned, he is another guy many here wanted and he’s currently striking out at a +30% rate in Low A, so another guy unfit to headline a Crochet trade. Feels like we’d Dominguez as a centerpiece and there is no chance in hell that the Yankees would do that.
  20. Figured this would be a fun one to discuss, so splitting out from the other miscellaneous threads. Couple quotes from Bob on a potential Crochet trade:
  21. Small nugget from Bob on Fedde: Nothing really new there but always nice to reaffirm that the return should be good. I will add that Bob also speculates the Mets, Rangers, & Cubs may not sell, which would definitely help boost Fedde’s value even further.
  22. Latest from Bob on Robert trade market: Also worth noting he says that the Mariners are a favorite for Jazz while the Phillies have no interest in him (he is a lefty). I still think the Phillies are the most likely suitor for Robert despite Rosenthal’s speculation on willingness to give up big prospects (just doesn’t align with how Dombrowski has operated).
  23. Ramos is struggling in AAA and definitely needs more time down there.
  24. If you could get Griffin to agree to #8 slot money, you’d save just over $1.2M at #5. Combining that with the 5% bonus overage of ~$700k would give us $2.0M to work with. That could allow you to scoop up a pair of high upside prep arms with our second round and comp pick tonight. To keep things simple, adding $1M of those funds at #43 would give you $3.2M to work with or roughly #28 value overall. Adding the other $1M to #68 would give you $2.2M to work with or roughly #43 value overall. Feels like that could get you Ryan Sloan at #43 and Joey Oakie at #68 which alongside Griffin would be a pretty sweet day one and wouldn’t require you to go underslot anywhere else in the draft.
